Question 1
Define love?
If you asked everyone what love is, you'd get different answers from everyone. For me love is such an abstract and baffling concept. Love is something that you cannot just google and find an answer for. It's something that is different for everyone. I think when you truly understand love, you'll feel it. I think a lot of people find themselves astray from the true meaning of love, imagining that it's all just what they see on tv. Everyone tries to understand love by dissecting it and trying to find the definition of it. I think from the fault in our stars that love is a self-diagnosed disease. It's the thumping of the chest that keeps you awake at the crack of dawn and the permanent smile on your face. I believe love

I passed a little boy who was sitting in a pram and he was crying and screaming because he let his balloon go and his mother said she wouldn't go back to get him another one because 'he was the one who let it go'. So with out hesitation I walked up to the mother and asked if she'd mind if I gave her son my balloon and he had the cutest grin on his face when I handed it to him.

Poets and philosophers for centuries have been trying to answer the question, what is love? Love has an infinite number of definitions, which vary from one person to another. Love cannot be measured by any physical means. One may never know what true love is until love it- self has been experienced. What is love? A four letter word that causes a person to behave in a way that is out of character. What is love? A first kiss, childhood crushes on a teacher or friend’s mom. What is love? A choice that people make by putting their partner’s wishes, desires and needs above everything else. What is love? The act of forgiveness, the infatuation with someone, the communication between two people. What is love? A friendship that turned into a lifelong commitment, that special someone who has vowed to spend the rest of their lives to honor and protect, to love each other “till death do you part.” When in love nothing else in the world matters. According to the online Encarta Dictionary love is the passionate feeling of romantic and sexual desire and longing for somebody. Poets and philosophers may never know what love really is, and we may never truly understand the question what is love.
Love is said to be one of the most desired things in life. People long for it, search for it, and crave it. It can come in the form of partners, friends, or just simply family. To some, love is something of a necessity in life, where some would rather turn a cold shoulder to it. Love can be the mixture of passion, need, lust, loyalty, and blood. Love can be extraordinary and breathtaking. Love being held so high can also be dangerous. Love can drive people to numerous mad things with it dangerously so full of craze and passion.
The word love is usually misused or misinterpreted. There are numerous meanings and definitions to this overly used word. Not many of them make much sense to me. Love is a feeling of complete bliss. Love is something that can’t be touched or bought, but is something that is much better than money and earthly objects. I can stay here and describe love all day long and still have so much more to say about this word days later. Love isn’t a word that should be used lightly, but usually is. I believe that love is the most commonly used, but most understood word ever known
Love is having compassion for others, sharing feelings and your life with another person, as well as, having faith in others and forgiving those we love for the any errs that they may make. Most of all, we must be committed to those we love. Of course, this is only my opinion. No matter how long I try to explain what love is ultimately it is up to you, the reader, to define what love is to you. So let me leave you now with the words of the great Humanist Erich Fromm, "Can anything be learned about the art of love, except by practicing it?"

There are several ways that the word love can be described, either way it has the same effect on any person. Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course.
“Love is universally accepted by many people and the concept of love within the English language refers to a variety of different approaches, states and attitudes, ranging from pleasure to interpersonal attraction.” (Kendrick 123) My characterization of love encourages the intimate emotion I partake for my family. In ordinary terms, love is an intense feeling of affection towards another person, object, or anything for that matter. An average person typically refers to love as an attraction to another person so strong that one begins to develop an inability to feel a romantic passion for anyone else. However, in psychoanalytical terms there are multiple ways to describe the characteristics of love. In actuality, love is not a feeling. The only accompanying feelings that come with love is anxiety. Love demands love. Love is founded on faith and is extended by faith.
How would you define love? As we all know, love is an extreme feeling of deep affection. One of the article in “Life today” February issue talks about love. When someone falls in love, it is something that he or she cannot control. That person goes through their mind all day and they can’t help themselves because they are attracted to that person.
People in this world have not a clue what it means to love or to be loved. Most people use one another and never truly attaches themselves to experience the feeling of love, but rather fill the void with things other than love. As mentioned in the documentary Minimalism, it is said, “that we as humans are too materialistic in the everyday sense of the world, but not at all materialistic enough in the actual word.” Thus, meaning that the focus of today’s society is not about who we love or whom we wish to share our lives with, but rather what we can purchase or who we can use to our own advantage. Loving people and using things will lead to a better more sensible way of life.
Over time the definition of love and what it is has been debated and argued over, but in most cases the answer is very similar. For others, real love can only exist between family members or between people and a god. For some people, it is felt for your partners, family, pets, or even inanimate objects. None of the people are right or wrong, but I do know one thing, love is very powerful. Love is overused in today's world, people say they love someone because of the way they look or their body. That isn't love. To me, love is the most spectacular, indescribable, deep euphoric
