There is no dictionary that can define exactly what love is in this world. Love is different for everyone. It can only be felt. For me, this is the best definition of love: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Love is the most powerful emotion known to humankind. Some of us are not currently in a relationship, some are at the beginning of a relationship, or have been in a relationship for a long time. Based on my experience and observations, I notice that
You talk for a while but it just doesn’t feel enough. You feel like this is different from any other random meeting you’ve had. You want to know more about this person, so you ask them out on a date. One date leads to a few more. And every time you meet, you can’t help but think about how beautiful they look when they smile, you can’t help but be amazed at the way their eyes light up when they’re telling you something about their life, and you can’t help but feel like this person might just be the one for you. That is when you know that you are falling in love.
Everything changes around you when you fall in love, or maybe it is just only you changing. You will the feel the pounding of your heart when you see them, and your wish to be seen by them only. Your temper becomes gentle, tolerance rises and imagination expands. You try to imagine what the person would have done if they were in your place, what they would be doing at the moment or if they would be thinking about you too. And just like getting high, falling in love allows you to see the world through beautiful rose colored glasses – only seeing what makes you feel good and ignoring what makes you feel
Look around, many people are going through that phase in their lives where they are trying to figure out where they belong. They may be trying to hang out with different groups of people, try new clothes, and act differently than they did maybe just a couple of months ago. Love is just another stepping stone in life that helps in the search for one’s identity. Finding love is a life changing experience, all the emotions people go through. Love is a strong drug that most people will experience in their life.
The general umbrella of love encompasses various kinds of love, such as romantic love, the love of a parent for a child, love of one’s country, and several others. What is common to all love is this: Your own well-being is tied up with that of someone (or something) you love. When love is not present, changes in other people’s well being do not, in general, change your own. Being ‘in love’ infatuation is an intense state that displays similar features:. and finding everyone charming and nice, and thinking they all must sense one’s happiness....
... of being in love just do not outweigh the pain it causes when its over. When you are madly in love you would never regret all the time and effort, although at times effortless that you put into making a love story your very own love story play before your eyes. Never taking a moment for granted, appreciating the scent of your loved one and look in their eyes when they look at you with the most passionate eyes you have ever known. The feeling of being, the feeling of lightness and that amount of support you could ever imagine a person could give…this person your person is giving it willingly. Being in love is so beautiful and when it finally touches you, you could never understand how you could have lived before without this love. The feeling of being so whole could never amount to the all the riches in the world. Because when you are in love no one is more richer!
To get to the point of love, we get to know a person, flirt with them, and finally commit to them. When we fall in love, our goal is to have closeness to another human being, or a commitment. Without commitment, which includes intimacy, we would not be able to have a happy and healthy adulthood (Myers, 2010). This is a foundation that not only will fulfill us, but also will give our children a strong example of attachment. With this example, they will be able to repeat this process in their lives.
Love is having compassion for others, sharing feelings and your life with another person, as well as, having faith in others and forgiving those we love for the any errs that they may make. Most of all, we must be committed to those we love. Of course, this is only my opinion. No matter how long I try to explain what love is ultimately it is up to you, the reader, to define what love is to you. So let me leave you now with the words of the great Humanist Erich Fromm, "Can anything be learned about the art of love, except by practicing it?"
Love is not usually well defined. People often think that they are in love, but they cant explain it. There is a great dealing of confusion of the words love, and infatuation. Love may include romance, infatuation, affection and tenderness. But it could be love if one or more of the elements are not present. The definition of love varies from person to person. Love is essential element for all relationships. Much of what is written about love is either brief or mocking. Society in general is very cruel and heartless toward real love of any kind. Modern writing mocks marriages, husbands and wives, but condones adultery, and other obscene values. Real love is a mystery to most people. Most people never realize the true potential or value of love, nor do they learn to practice the art of love.
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love.
I found this information to come as a bit of a shock. I assumed when you fall in love, it’s for the right reason and it’s true love. After reading this article, the word “love” was brought down to ground level. Meaning our text gave real statistics and facts. When talking about love I think people have an imaginative, happy picture in their head. I think love can lose its meaning because our world is so superficial. Being in love shouldn’t be hard, but it also shouldn’t be easy. When you are in love, you should focus on your growth and your partner’s growth (“Falling in Love,” 33). You should also be considerate of your relationship growths together. When you are in love, you care more about the other person than yourself.
Many people have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of love. The word love has been tossed around by everybody and not very many people really understand the true meaning of love. There are some exceptions, but I think this is especially true for teenagers and young adults. I might be one of those people who do not fully understand the topic of love, but I hope to better understand the topic of love and its true meaning is this course.
Love, that single feeling which generates the funny sensations in people's stomach, giving them the warm pleasures in their body, causing them to feel joy, and to believe every aspect in their life is right. It causes them to receive an exhilarating, appealing feeling that makes them want to rejoice. Love can be a speeding of their heart, but it can also be nerve-racking. It makes their hearts begin to rapidly pump, making a rapid beat— “ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom”. Attempting to describe love is a rigorous task, but it is possible. However, the easiest detail to describe and understand about love is not so much the feeling of it, but the concept of what it is about. Many people may obtain different views and definitions regarding love, but
Falling in love can be one of the most unexplained feelings a person can endure. There are two sets of feelings that are the basis of modern romantic relationships. The first is the attraction. Attraction is the excitement you feel when falling in love. To better explain this feeling, attraction is what you feel when you meet someone new who really excites you and you begin to feel aroused when thinking about this person.
Love is something that cannot be controlled or planned by anyone. It is something that comes out from nowhere regardless of what we are doing or what we are going through. By the fact that we are humans, there is only one kind of love that we are all familiar with. Human love is obviously the love that we have and what we feel for other people. Basically, it is the love that all people feel and go through. There are factors that affect our idea of “human love”. One factor is attraction. Attraction is something that gives us the urge or the idea that we are “falling in love”. There are certain aspects under attraction that give us a deeper knowledge about love. The first aspect is the ideals. Ideals are the notions or the things that we think are the
First, we need to know what love is in order to identify it. From a biblical point of view, love is defined as, “love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud (Corinthians 13:4)” It goes on to include that love is not selfish, not disrespectful, it forgives, trusts, hopes, and protects. The Four Loves, written by C.S. Lewis, defines love as a focus on another person and accepting him/her completely for who he/she is. It is the unselfish giving of yourself. Love and other emotions: On the process of feeling, by Jason Brown, defines love as a source of importance and value.
Falling in love is a mysterious, wonderful, and deeply spiritual experience. It is finding the other half of one’s self and feeling complete for the first time in one’s life. The experience of falling in love has inspired countless stories, plays, and songs. It is the deepest desire of a human to be in love with another person, and to have that love requited. Falling in love creates intense, spiritual feelings between two people. Often, these feelings can be so strong that they consume a person with their intensity. These feelings, as wonderful as they can be, cannot be maintained at that intensity for the duration of a life-long relationship. Although these deep feelings can and should resurface from time to time, being in a constant state of intense love would drain a person over time and prevent that person from finding self-fulfillment, self-satisfaction, and, ultimately, true happiness.
What is love? Love is a very special and meaningful word to each human being. Each human being has his/her own thoughts about love to guide himself/herself to land safely and smoothly into the kingdom of Love. Without this preconceived idea of love, people would be acting like a blind person searching for the light with thousand of obstacles in front of him.
