Love And Hate In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet

Love and hate two of the most power fullest emotions out there. But which is more powerful that is the question. Love is more powerful. This essay will give three examples. First, without love we might not be here today. Without Romeo and Juliet’s parents having children, there would be no story. Another one would be that this world would be all hate and war. The feud between the Montagues and Capulets is an example of this. Lastly, what would be the point to life if all of it is just hate? Romeo and Juliet would rather die than live without love. An explanation of these three reasons will follow.

First, without love we might not be here today. Why? There are many reasons, without love your parents might not have met and you would have never

even been born. Think about it, love is the reason we are here, it’s so strong that without it many things wouldn’t have happened. Without the love of Romeo and Juliet there wouldn’t be a story or play about them or the love of the parents for their children. Lord Montague says: “The statue I will make of Romeo to lie beside his Juliet will be just as rich. They were poor sacrifices of our rivalry!” it took the death of their own children to end the feud.
Second, this world is already corrupted, but love is what keeps this world together. Imagine earth without love. Earth might be a dark and gloomy place where every one just hates each other. There would be wars and many other things. Two members of the Capulet house are just walking down the street of Verona and one says: “A dog of the hours of Montague moves me.” This means it almost takes nothing to start a fight between the Montagues and the Capulets. But love keeps these things from happening. It might sound dumb that an emotion can do that but it is true.
Last but not least, what would be the point of life? Romeo and Juliet take their lives at the end of the play because they cannot live without the person they love. Love is more powerful than hate in this case. If all people do is just hate and not do anything else, what would be the value of life. Society would be corrupted. Just imagine a world like that. It’s like you were just put on this earth to hate each other. I wouldn’t want to live in a world like that because it’s pointless. That’s why love is a stronger emotion.
I believe that without love the world would be a terrible place and that is why I think love is a stronger emotion than hate. In the play Romeo and Juliet prove that love is stronger than hate, just imagine if the Montagues and Capulets kept fighting.
