In the novel “Lost Boy Lost Girl” you can find many differences and similarities between the character, For example they work together to get the job done. I can relate to john because we all have to work together to get the jobs done like in school when you have a project due, You have to work together in your groups to get done faster and to finish it up and make it look good. Another thing i can relate to john is that we all have values, different but we have them. The dinka peoples values include respect, courage, hard work, and self sacrifice. We have most of these values here or in my family. In the text it states “The hunters took the lion’s body and cut off the tail, paws, and mane. They gave these to Alleer-Manguak’s family as a token
of respect for his brave deed and his self sacrifice.” Here in the united states this would be like the people who are in the armed forces. The officer give the fallen soldiers families a flag and a beautiful ceremony. for there great self sacrifice and braveness. This would relate in Alleer-Manguak’s case.
A character that was admirable in the novel “we all fall down” is John. John is the father of Will who is the main character, they spend nearly the entire story together looking for a way out of the world trade center during the 9/11 attacks. During the story you learn that John is very smart, brave, and respected. These are all characteristics which play a crucial role in saving lives such as his co-workers and a random lady they find on the way named ting, but mainly in the ending John and Will successfully escape.
How can two people who are very different share similarities? Dally and Johnny, two greasers from S. E. Hinton’s novel The Outsiders, have distinct differences as well as similarities. They are similar because they both know what it is like to have abusive and neglectful parents. Also, they both care about each other in similar ways. Dally and Johnny are completely different when it comes to the law. Dally is the least law abiding in the gang, where as Johnny is the most. Dally and Johnny are dissimilar when they die. Dally dies a hoodlum, which is vast difference from how Johnny dies a hero. Therefor, Dally and Johnny have a lot in common, but also have great differences.
Pharoah is the younger brother to Lafeyette, LaShawn, and Terence. He is an intelligent person. His mother LaJoe wants Pharaoh to do well in life. She thinks that he has the motivation to do whatever he would like to do. Pharoah has a lisp that makes him work harder in becoming a better person throughout the novel. "Pharoah was different, not only from Lafeyette but from the other children, too. He didn't have many friends, except for Porkchop, who was always by his side... Pharoah got so lost in his daydreams that LaJoe had to shake him to bring him back from his flights of fancy. Those forays into distant lands and with other people seemed to help Pharoah fend off the ugliness around him" (15). Pharoah was changed throughout the novel, overcoming his lisp and becoming confident in himself that he could one day escape the Horner homes.
The embodiment of a collective group of people congregating on a farm to seek a better lifestyle, is what took place in the book The Blithedale Romance by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It started off in a positive manor that in turn back fired on the main characters of the story. Narrated by Miles Coverdale who also was one of the characters that went to Blithedale, embarked on a journey to better himself. Along with a few other members, Mr Coverdale soon became involved in trying to unlock the mystery that each member held. All the characters apart of this journey though, shared and played a significant role in Mr. Coverdale's time spent there. Out of all the characters that Mr. Coverdale encountered, Zenobia had to be the most interesting.
The animals were obtained from all corners of the known world, such as India, North Africa, Nothern Europe, Asia Minor, etc. There were many varieties of animals such as: bears, panthers, rhinoceri, hippos, croccodiles, lynx, apes, leopards, bulls, giraffes, ostriches, lions and elephants. The lion holds a special place in the hunts because of their speed and the stren...
I received a free copy of The Girl from Everywhere by … from Hot Key Books in exchange for an honest review, this has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

In the novel “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe, Nwoye is Okonkwo’s eldest son who is a feminine in the eyes of his father while being a lackadaisical boy just like Unoka was during his lifetime. As a child, Nwoye was often criticized by his father for not being a manly person. Eventually, Ikemefuna comes to fill the void of a manly person and afterwards, Nwoye decided to emulate Ikemefuna as a way to show to his father that he is not a feminine but instead he is transitioning into a manly person. On the other hand after the murder of Ikemefuna, Nwoye decides to distance himself from his father and seems to lose the respect he once had towards his father. Without Ikemefuna’s influence, Nwoye decides to convert back to his gentle nature which basically leads to Okonkwo to view his son as a disappointment and feminine person. Later on in the novel, Nwoye decides to not forgive his father for his betrayal in killing Ikemefuna which ultimately leads to Nwoye to convert into Christianity as a way to show his father that he did a scandalous thing that would never be forgiven.
The epic genre has existed for centuries and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. However, as culture and values change so does the epic tradition. Milton played a large role in introducing the Christian worldview to the epic tradition through the epic poem Paradise Lost. Instead of continuing the tradition through humanistic values, Milton applies his faith to the epic genre and allows Christian values and truths to permeate through the text of Paradise Lost.
The Sudanese Civil War lasted approximately twenty years and destroyed whole villages along with the lives of entire families. “They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky” tells the true story of the Sudanese civil war and the Lost Boys swallowed up by gunfire and hatred. The Lost Boys was the ‘nickname’ given to the thousands of children that were orphaned or relocated during the bloody Sudanese civil war. The Lost Boys includes Benson Deng, Alepho Deng, and Benjamin Ajak who wrote the novel provides their opinions and understandings of several political concepts. These political concepts have multiple views by the Sudanese people. When brought to comparison by the American culture the perspectives are not that different.
In fact, the history of the portrayal of the animal could be traced back to prehistoric time when people were still residing in caves and hunting animals like horses, reindeers for the food. Hunting was an indispensable part of their daily life because animals were the primary source of food and tools. That’s the reason why hunting was considered as one of the most popular themes in prehistoric art. As early as 3,000 B.C., a rock art from Uruk that demonstrates the king killing a lion using ancient weapons was already created. Later, around 700s and 600s B.C., a series of sculpture which has the similar theme was identified in the palace of Ashurbanipal. Every element of the carving signifies the message of strength and motion (Animals in Art). As we could observe from the ancient art, human beings have been closely bonded with the nature and animals since prehistoric time. Animals became a vital element in our art and were portrayed by us to convey messages to the
God Grew Tired of Us appealed to me because I lacked knowledge of the Lost Boys and the Sudanese Civil War. The Lost Boys’ trek across Sudan, first to Ethiopia then to Kenya, impressed me beyond measure. I was shocked by the fact that 20,000 young boys were forced to journey so far. The amount of death and loss that those boys had to go through made their transition into American culture that much more impressive. Even though most did not know where their families were, they kept on living and trying to be successful. The few that were able to come to the United States had immense compassion and generosity for those they left behind in refugee camps. I also found striking repetitions of past events. The murder of males in South Sudan reminded
Milton continues to be considered as one of the best poets, and his best known poem, Paradise Lost, continues to be tricky for his readers to identify exactly who is and who is not the hero between the three prominent characters: Satan, the Son of God, and Adam.
