My attention getter would be how an American writer by the name of Morgan Robertson wrote a book entitled, “The Wreck of the Titan.” Written 14 years before the sinking of the Titanic, Morgan’s novel seems to have foreshadowed the sinking of the titanic which is ironic and intriguing. Who are you giving credit to/citing credentials for the speech? Where are you getting your sources from? We have all heard about the Titanic. Either we have watched the romance movie or done our research in a different way. No matter where we get our information from we know the biggest parts of the tragedy. The ship Titanic crashed into an iceberg on a cold April night on the Atlantic Ocean while sailing its first trip. But haven’t you ever wanted to know more details about? Maybe how the people who were on it and survived? How could the situation be prevented? Couldn’t they have saved more people? Well in the book “A Night to Remember” it has details on the Titanic you have probably never thought of knowing. While reading the first chapter some parts really caught my attention. One was when people felt the jolt from the collision with the ice berg people didn’t suspect what tragedy was to come. They are haunting to hear about and I wanted to see what these real life events were like. It is important to see the significance of those In the first class compared to those in the third class with real life experiences. For example, Jack Thayer was a first class passenger who lived through the horrifying event and spoke about his time on the titanic. He was separated from his family and was with his friend. “Just before the Titanic sank, they decided to jump from the rail. Milton went first. Jack never saw him again.” Jack recorded hearing screams as the titanic when down into the cold water. Then almost all at once they stopped and dwindled. He lived on to see that his mother did in fact survive, but the same was not true for his father. He later in life committed suicide. This is just one tragic story of the records of that night. This is a good example of what will help me write the paper, not something I would probably put in my paper.
The selections, “Attack at Sea” and “Into Dark Water” both gave an illustration of the drastic occurrence on ships where lives of passengers were taken away; major people to these ships were partially responsible for some of these tragic deaths because of their illogical actions. The Titanic passage described millionaire and President of White Star, Bruce Ismay and the Lusitania passage introduced the captain, William Turner and their similar contact with the ships. Both of these men were placed in similar situations but executed them in a different manner. Over the recent four months in Communication 1402 class, I have addressed three formal speechs and completed a number of chapters in the corresponding textbook “Communication Works”. This course of Communication aims to provide general information what public speaking is and how to address a public speaking. Recalling back the experience during the processes of completing the Speech to Imform, Speech to Persuade, and Group Presentation, I will draw a conclusion about this course and these three presentations in five aspects, comprising my previous perception of public speaking before this course; learning from the Speech to Inform; the goal and evaluation of Speech to Persuade; learning from the Group Presentation; the most important thing learned from this course.

While there is no direct person or thing to call the antagonist, there are many clues shown throughout the book for the reader to pick at least one adversary. Primarily, all readers must know the true meaning of “antagonist.” The term antagonist does not always imply a person or any living organism.
Within the context of film industry, the film Titanic by James Cameron belongs to epic romance/ disaster genre. The film, released in 1997, was a global box office hit because the director provided equal importance to history, fiction and romance. To be specific, one can see that the film’s plot is based upon the history of RMS Titanic. On the other side, the main characters including the protagonist and the heroine (Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater/Dawson) are fictional characters. Besides, the element of romance between the main characters (Jack and Rose) is the film’s main attraction. Thesis statement: The critical analysis of the film Titanic proves that the innovative mode of storytelling (flash back and other techniques), Acting, Cinematography, Editing, Sound, Style and Directing (equal importance to fictional and historical characters), Societal Impact, and Genre (epic romance/disaster) are the most important factors behind the film’s success as a historical/fictional masterpiece (special references specific shots, scenes, characters, stylistic devices and/or themes).
“It took two hours and forty minutes for the titanic to sink, just long enough for 2,208 tragic performances to unfold, with the ships lights blazing” (Sides 2). April 1912 the white star line’s pride, the titanic, left for its voyage that would change history forever. While traveling through the Atlantic Ocean they collided with an ice berg causing fractures throughout the boat. The ice water filled the compartments causing the front of the boat to weigh down the back, separating the boat in two. Research shows that the cause of the Titanic’s sinking was due to a dramatic increase in the probability of running into an iceberg and its high speed while traveling through the North Atlantic Shipping Lanes in 1912. As a consequence of the sinking, the U.S. Coast Guard now runs the international ice patrol and monitors the ice bergs by radar and satellite. Also it is now required to carry binoculars and radio connector all times on a ship.
I have also learned about different types of audiences and speeches including persuasive, informative, entertaining and delivering special occasion speeches. It came to my attention that whenever I was making these presentations or speeches, I needed to do so with confidence, consistence and practice before the actual presentation and completely eliminate the element of panic. It was also clear that capturing the attention of the audience and engaging them in the whole process, it was necessary to have a very strong introduction and also try and use visuals to deliver the message. It was therefore vital to respect each person’s diversity and cultural values (Lucas, 2011).
The Titanic is known as one of the most remarkable films of the 20th century and won Best Picture of the Year in 1998. This film was based on a real event that made headlines all across the world including in the New York Times. This tragedy was not supposed to have happened. The ship was built to be indestructible. So the event was certainly unexpected and tragic.
