The Los Angeles Dodgers are an American professional baseball team based in Los Angeles, California. The Dodgers compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) West division. Established in 1883 in Brooklyn, New York, the team moved to Los Angeles before the 1958 season. I think that this is really

“The Green Bay Packers are a non-profit corporation held by the citizens of Green Bay to run it’s football team”,who I think are the best, arguably are the most storied franchise in the National Football League, were organized on Aug,11, 1919, in the dingy second-floor editorial rooms of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building, located on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay. Never imagining what might become of the semipro football team being formed that day, nobody documented who was there or how many were on hand. There had been no announcement of the meeting beforehand, and the Press-Gazette provided no details about it the day after.Whether a full complement of players attended or if it was simply a
America’s Team Will the real “America’s Team” please stand up? This term is widely used throughout the media when referring to the Dallas Cowboys. “America’s Team” was first coined some 40 years ago while introducing them for a feature film by the legendary sport writer Bob Ryan. In the following years, because of their success and mass media exposure they were a team that America as a nation could identify with ,so the name stuck. The Cowboys since those days has regressed into a very mediocre team who only looks for moral instead of actual Super Bowl victories.
The Atlanta Braves is the longest operating franchise in the history of all professional sport leagues in America. They are the only organization to field a team every year that professional baseball has been in existence (“Story of the Braves”). The organization begin in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings and overtime changed the name several more times before landing on what we know today as the Atlanta Braves. The organization began in Boston, moved to Milwaukee for a decade or so before finally making the move to Atlanta in 1966. It was at that time, the organization changed the name to the Atlanta Braves. Years later after the move to Atlanta, Ted Turner purchased the Braves and helped put them on a national platform. During this
Rader states that baseball was founded by Abner Doubleday in 1839 at Cooperstown, New York. In the next couple decades, the game developed the simple concept of bases. After having bases introduced into the game, the kids in bigger cities started club based teams which played each other. These teams started to develop a personal passion and respect for baseball which led them to adopt written rules. He conveys the idea of fellowship within the team and how the players celebrated all aspects of the game. He gives an example of a club team called the New York Knickerbockers and how they celebrated with their opponents and teammates whether they won or l...

...rises me that little to few people know the true past of California and I believe that it should be taught in high school. I also never knew about the unfortunate circumstances of all the Chicanos that were relocated and lied to in order to build the Dodgers Stadium. Being relocated by force essentially and promised a better living condition where they have priorities that was never built. I have been a Dodger fan my whole life and never thought about the location of the stadium and how they obtained it. The worst part is I see so many Chicanos at the games and are die hard Dodger fans that don 't know the complete story.
Since 2005 the Philadelphia Eagles have saved 3 million dollars because of the environmental work they have done and 100 percent of their energy comes from reusable sources. ("Smarter Business: Greening the Games") To start off, most NFL teams have charities and donate to charities, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, they help out with the environment. Teams have a special way to pick players around the league and in the draft for their team. To add to that, NFL teams and especially the Eagles keep a close eye on the player's health and how to keep them healthy. I want to start an NFL team and have the franchise based on the Philadelphia Eagles. There are many cities in the U.S. that are suitable for teams and there are a lot of things
Hank Aaron was a famous baseball player who was respectful to his teammates and his fans. His nickname was “Hammerin’ Hank”. At one time he led the league in the most home runs. He was born in a poor family and then grew up to be a great professional baseball player. He became one of the most admired baseball players in Major League history.
“The Braves started in 1876 in Boston, known then as the ‘Red Stockings’. And in 1883 they became then ‘Beaneaters’ and then the now infamous ‘Braves’ in 1912. Then in 1914 the Boston Braves won they’re first national title, by sweeping Philadelphia.” (Atlanta.braves.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/atl/history/atl_history_timeline.jsp)
Teams are taking are taking advantage of the abundance of talent in Latin America. All major League teams are active in the Dominican Republic. The Dodgers, the first team to move into the Latin American market, scout the area’s talent closely. About one hundred and four of the two hundred and thirty-seven minor-leaguers they had under contract at the start of the year were from that region.
n 1919 the Chicago Black Sox Scandal was a result of the owner Charles Comiskey not paying the baseball players what they were actually worth. The Black Sox felt under appreciated due to how conniving the owner was. He included a baseball reserve clause which stated that any player who refused to accept a contract “from the Black Sox” was prohibited from playing on any other professional baseball team. This involuntarily secured a signature from the baseball players if not they would have to deal with the repercussions that follow, meaning no other baseball career.
One of the most iconic names in baseball is the team name “New York Yankees”, and along with it have come some equally as famous players. The Yankees have had so much talent come through their stadium, names including Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra and Mickie Mantle to name a few. Though there are several arguments about who the greatest players of the game are it is no question who the top ten are from the New York team. Based on up to date career statistics these players have a ninety year span of talent between them. These players may not have top score in all parts of the game but they have all set certain records that either have yet to be broken or held for a longer time than most students have been alive.
This is the story of the 1919 Chicago White Sox scandal. The team, a strong favorite to win the World Series, throws the championship on a bribe to show up their penny-pinching owner (Clifton James). However, not all the players want to go along with the plan, like Buck Weaver (John Cusack), but are unable to do anything as the rest of the team goes along with it. Sure enough, the Sox lose the series and the scandal is uncovered. The team is then found guilty and banned from baseball for life. I would say this nemesis was Comiskey who was the man who was at fault here. He, as well as his fellow owners were all nemesis to these. Comiskey paid his star players a substantially lower salary than what they would have received on other teams. He
Chicago Cubs baseball goes all the way back to April 25th, 1876 when they played the first game in the history of the Chicago National League Ball Club. However; at the time, they were not known as the “Cubs.” In general, they were known as the “White Stockings.” But a select few referred to them as the “Colts,” or “Orphans.” The team played in only five different locations in the 1800s because of the lack of places to play baseball at the time. As years went by, the league became popular, becoming one of the sports first dynasties. Chicago won six of the first eleven inaugural National League Championships (Cubs Timeline). In 1902, Frank Selee began managing Chicago to debut his managerial career. Just like managers, the name changed as well. A local newspaper penned the nickname “Cubs” for the first time. The name grew on people over time and was officially adopted in 1907. The year after that, victory arose in the city of Chicago. The season was filled with some of the greatest old-time baseball players. The batting line-up consisted of many good hitters and not jus...
