Even though choosing to go to college is something that takes a lot of thought, there’s still the idea of how to pay for it. That topic is touched by Robin Wilson in his article, “A Lifetime Of Student Debt? Not Likely.” In his article he talks about how taking out student loans isn’t as bad as it sounds. He argues that taking out student loans is something that you won’t notice in the future, they’ll just be like other bills that need to be paid. Most people who do have student loans, are still able to live a comfortable life, not scrabbling like most would

For most families with teenagers applying for colleges there is one main question―what will it cost us? According to The College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2013–2014 school year was $30,094 at private colleges, $8,893 for state residents at public colleges, and $22,203 for out-of-state residents attending public universities. Although these numbers are averages, the actual costs of colleges are widely varied. A sad truth about this is that many students and their families don’t even know where all their money is going. Normally the money is paying for tuition; fees; housing and meals; books and school supplies; and personal and transportation expenses. As showed in the average cost of college, usually a school has a lower tuition for in-state residents and a vastly higher tuition for ou...
College is one of the largest financial burdens in today’s society for many. Since the recession, people often ponder what the best financial options for students looking to go to college are and what path they should take to get them there. Being able to read other’s opinions on said topic can be rather beneficial for one looking into the possibility of furthering his or her education. Mike Rose, faculty member at the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, and Karen Lawrence, the president of Sarah Lawrence College, have both shared their opinion for others to read by writing articles about this epidemic and stating what they believe to be the advantages and some of the possible downsides
Can they afford to send their child off to college? How much is the total cost for their education? These are common questions amongst parents who are thinking about having their child attend college. With many Americans living paycheck to paycheck, college can seem nearly impossible. Families are trying their best to set aside money for their children but are constantly being put into a bad position as the cost of tuition raises each and every year. “No one should be denied the opportunity to get an education and increase their earning potential based solely on their inability to pay for a college education.”(Scott, Bobby) All children should have access to a quality education and not burden a family nor put the student into debt.
With six hours of school, several hours of extra-curricular activities, community and church activities, and family time, it 's practically impossible for a high school student to hold a full-time job. Many college students graduate with a degree, but debt that will burden them for years. While scholarships provide the opportunity to help ease the burden, there is still the question of how can students pay for college without accumulating a large amount of debt. Even if a student has a job that pays above minimum wage, it is difficult to earn enough money to pay for tuition out of pocket. Especially when there are other expenses to be paid during high school such as, a car, repairs for your car, a phone and its monthly plan payments, a laptop, holiday and birthday expenses, gas money, and more. Personally, the financial challenges I will have to address, is how am I going to pay for college without going into debt? As well as paying for supplies and living expenses, and possibly
College may be a big expense, but it prepares one for their future and career. An excerpt from “Is College Worth the Cost?” by The Pew Research Center states “seventy-five percent of Americans say that college is too expensive for them to afford.” College may be a huge expense, but when a student wants to go to college and they cannot afford it on their own, they can take out a loan, apply for scholarships,
Many other factors play a role in taking money from the attending students which for the most part includes seven things. First, at your average four-year College, rent will cost close to $9,000. This causes some students to have to share space and all pitch in for rent at a given housing unit. Second, food can add up with the $5 here and there that you spend on fast food or the $20 that you may spend at a grocery store. A slightly minor one is school supplies. For the most part there only supplies that will cost a few dollars each which is not bad. However, the fact that you will most likely need a laptop adds another pretty penny to the stack that has already accumulated. Fourth, every college has really expensive text books that you will need for your classes. These will range anywhere from $50-$200 per book depending on the class. And last but not least is the good and services that you will use while in college. Most students can save money here through discounts or grants that will apply to what you need to use but for the most part it will come out of pocket. This will include anything extra that you need/want in order to feel more comfortable in college. Things such as a vehicle, gas, new clothes, new games and so forth are included in this list as a

A role model can be a role model just because they are a leader or have great talent.
