Lord Of The Flies Leadership Analysis

Lord of the Flies is a book about surviving on an uninhabited island. There was a group of boys stranded on an island. They were on a plane on their way to another place, because there was a war. The boys needed to be rescued. There was no adult on the island, so they have to take care of themselves. That is really hard so they needed a leader who can decide what’s going to happened on the island. Also take care of the others. It is not easy to choose a leader. It’s very important for the boys to choose a good leader. Everyone wants to be a leader, but it’s better to take someone who is older than the others and knows what to do if there is a problem like this. This article focusses on the struggle to be a leader.
As I said, choosing a leader

is very hard, especially with kids. There are two boys who want to be a leader: Ralph and Jack. Ralph is a 12-year-old boy. Ralph's capacity for leadership is evident from the very beginning. During the crisis caused by the sight of the dead paratrooper on the mountain, Ralph is able to proceed with both sense and caution. He works watchfully to keep the group’s focus on the hope for rescue. He is the oldest of the group boys on the island. Jack represents evil and violence, the dark side of human nature. He is selfish and as leader are you not supposed to be selfish. When the younger boys have to vote who is going to be the leader, they choose Ralph. That is sad for Jack, so Ralph said that Jack could be the leader of the hunting group. Ralph has an idea. While Jack can hunt, Ralph and the littluns (the younger kids) can make shelters and find some fruit.
He wants to make a fire on the top of the mountain. If the people who passed the island, they can see the fire and there is a chance that they can be rescued. But the first time they made the fire it failed. Jack was totally into hunting which is why he let the fire out. Ralph was mad, because Jack is not listening to him. Later he apologised. But Ralph thinks he did not mean it. He made the fire, but then he continues with hunting. It is like he does not care about the fire or being rescued.
When Jack becomes a better leader for the littluns, Ralph was about to give up as a leader, but Piggy, a chubby boy with glasses said no, because if Jack becomes a leader, then it would be a disaster. So Ralph keeps going be a leader of a little group people. Most of the kids went to Jack and went hunting. Jack made his own group and an own shelter, because he does not like the way Ralph lead the group. Jacks group had a good life, but at the end two people were killed They were both killed by an 'accident'. I could not see if Jack feel sorry for them.
What I just want to say is that you need to choose a good leader. If you don't have a good leader things go bad. In the story Jack has an own type of leading a group. He doesn’t care how to survive. As long as he can hunt, everything is fine. He just didn't want to be rescued, he likes it without the adults. A real good leader is someone who cares about everyone and for shelters where the littluns can hide. Jack is someone who really wants to hunt and nothing else. That is not how a leader supposed to be. But in the story most of the children went to Jack because he was making fun. So do you think Jack is a good leader or Ralph?
