Recommended: Setting and achieving goals
Pondering about my future, I was able to identify three goals to work towards to better my life. The first goal is personal, my fiancé and I have been trying to save for a house and a car and this is the year we are going to make the purchases. My second goal is professional, in the future, I would ideally like to be a social worker. However, thinking about the immediate future, I would like to find a job that will give me real world experience in my chosen field of study. Finally, my third goal pertains to my on-line education. My goal is to graduate on-time with honors, and I am willing to work arduously for it. As stated by MacLeod, “In order to reach a single goal, several enabling or supporting objectives usually have to be met”(2012). Therefore, a plan needs to be put in place in order to reach your goals successfully. When approaching your goals it is best to go about it in a S.M.A.R.T. way, which is to ensure your goal is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound (Cohen, 2013). Starting with my personal goal of buying a house and a car, I have made a precise plan of action. Specifically, my fiancé and I are looking at a used 2003 Volkswagen Jetta that is three thousand dollars. We have more than half of the money put aside for the car, and we are paying off all our bills before we make the purchase, so we do not incur an extra expense. Realistically, we need this car to be able to travel to look at potential houses for sale in our desired neighborhood. We can afford the car, so it is attainable, yet we are waiting until May to ensure our bills are paid off. Getting the car before then is doable, however, staying on schedule will guarantee us being able to afford the insurance payments and still have money in our pockets. Once we have the car we can then start looking at the houses I have been keeping a list of and thus begin the home buying process. We have narrowed our search down to Westchester, New York and a hundred and fifty thousand dollar house is attainable. Once we have our car we will most likely get a real estate agent, which is essential to the search for a home. The house cannot be further than an hour and a half away from my fiancé’s job and we would like to move by the end of the year.
People need to think intelligently and set goals that are specific to their needs, making it possible to achieve their goals by making sure they are measurable and realistic and making it possible to build a support system around them; furthermore, they also need to set a deadline with time frames that can be met. Chanika Charles stated that “young people are at risk of being gobbled up by despair, overcome by conditions beyond their control” (A17). To avoid this, people need to start motivating themselves and getting excited about what they want to achieve, making sure their goals are relevant to their needs and being more perseverance when situations become difficult. When setting up their goals, they must ask that magic question: is this relevant to my lifestyle, furthermore, what will I do to achieve it?

If individuals are not careful, technology will eventually overtake humankind. Ray Bradbury dives into this theme in his short story, "The Veldt." In general, writers develop their theme by using various literary elements. This is the case in "The Veldt," however, the story's theme is also built through its science fiction genre. Bernardo puts this into light, saying that "Bradbury's poetic style transports the reader out of the everyday world and into a fantasy world, often reminiscent of the unchecked imagination of childhood." This fantastical style can be found throughout Bradbury’s other works, including Fahrenheit 451 and Something Wicked This Way Comes.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...

In the essay "Our future selves," by Eric Schmitz and Jared Cohen, the authors focus solely on how technology has had an optimistic impact on our lives and society. Similarly, the more technology advances are available the more effectivities, productive, and creative an individual will become. Therefore, making an individual feel more connected and equal. However, in his essay "The Loneliness of the Interconnected," Charles Seife introduces and proposes an opposing view. Seife believes that the more technology offers us the more isolated we become towards our surrounding. Due to the abusive use of technology we have become isolated to reality, to opposing views but most of all towards verbal communication. Thus, although theses two essays demonstrate
To my surprise, we were presented with the task of writing a paper on our personal goals as one of the first assignments for this class. I was suddenly given the opportunity to analyze my personal goals with respect to education, work, and other aspects of my life. I came to realize that my primary personal goal was to expand my knowledge to gain a better understanding of myself and to determine my ultimate path in life. For me, these goals could only be realized by attending college. During my time at University of Phoenix, I will be investing my time and energy into the specific objectives of graduating and improving myself as a person.
Looking to the future If I could do anything in this life what would it be? I feel that there is many things that I want to be, I want to be a great dad, I want to be a great teacher, I want to become an educated person who respects others regardless of what they went through and just try to be a more helpful person to my family and everyone I come into contact with, I want to be a strong person emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. If I could do anything it would to articulate my feelings in a way that moves people into being a better person. If I could anything in my life it would be, to figure out the complexities of life be able to describe it in great detail such as, depression, oppression, social justices, violence and just life in general I feel that, becoming a future teacher could help many American Indian kids on my reservation as well as my own. I hardly had any male role models in my school that I could relate to until my later years.
The goals that I have planned for my future will require dedication, new knowledge, and skills. These are the requirements that I will consistently have to work towards if I want to be able to provide for my future family, assist my parents and grandparents financially, and live a good life. I want to be able to have the skills necessary to become useful in our society.
Keep in mind the purposes for which you want to buy a home, and determine how critical location is to this equation. Also, consider the opportunity costs involved with travel time both to work and other places of interest. 7. Follow Through with an Offer When you finally walk through the door of the house that feels like home, satisfies your requirements, and is within your budget, make an offer!
In using college to become the person I want to be I made a lot of goals that to me seemed that they would be useful. The short term goals I made for my college self was to try and meet people that would help me succeed in my classes by keeping me on track to achieve an average of a B, Dedicate at least an hour to organizing my work load and my room, and lastly try and make use of the resources that are available to me to figure out a major. My long terms goals were to try and maintain a healthy environment of myself so I could prosper by spending time with the right people, to graduate with a B average, and to find a job after college that made me happy and was what I wanted to be doing. The goals I created for myself at the time seemed easy to complete like
As Washington State governor Jay Inslee says, “We are the first generation to feel the sting of climate change, and we are the last generation that can do something about it.” Because of the known threat that climate change poses to the planet and its inhabitants, our futures greatly depend on how the problem of climate change is addressed in the near future. Like Mr. Inslee says, it is up to our generation to decide the Earth’s future and humanity’s fate. This decision involves either making drastic changes in manufacturing legislation, oil and power usage, and huge innovations in renewable energy and manufacturing -or- a lack of change and preventative measures at this time when recovery is still an option. One of these

From the start, they were working on the ship as fast as they could. Beta and Mu wanted to be far from Earth when someone found out that they had defied the rules, it was a surprise that they had been able to stay there for 6 days without someone checking on them. Although, in the worst-case scenario Beta had come up with that was because the GA had sent out a unit to arrest them for insubordination. But now they were starting to get more troubled with the situation; the ship was getting better every day, but they were quickly running out of food. After all, originally their food supplies had been meant to last two months for two people. With all five of them and the fact that Gamma hadn’t had time to plan a trip to Red Restina for a trip to buy groceries, they had already been half-way through them when the two agents had joined them.
Design, first and foremost, is concerned with solving problems, but from where we currently stand we have created more problems than we have solved. Sustainable product design is focusing on creating products with the least possible negative impacts on the environment, featuring eco-sound materials, energy efficiency, and easy recycling.
