Look what you made me do, Ben Buchnat. I, too, was ready to stay in a comfortable bubble of indie and punk harmonies. Pop really has been pretty boring this summer. But that all changed when Taylor Swift dropped the song and music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” the first single off her new album “Reputation,” sending fans and haters into a frenzy. Now the most successful debut of any video in YouTube history, with a record-holding 43.2 million views in 24 hours, Swift only proves her music industry prowess. Taking every critique she has ever received from the media or public, Swift uses the song to make a strong comeback after a relatively defaming 2016, something my colleague failed to include in his review. Her famous beefs with rapper Kanye West, Kim Kardashian-West, Katy Perry and Calvin Harris are particularly highlighted throughout the video and song, and should be noted. But in order to do this, we need to break down the video frame-by-frame. Let’s gather the receipts. The video opens on a graveyard, Dead Taylor clawing her way out of the grave wearing the dress from the “Out of the Woods” music video, the last true music video from her last album “1989.” The name on one of the neighboring gravestones belongs to a “Nils Sjoberg,” the pseudonym Swift used when she co-wrote

According to a post from Tumblr user Wanderlust, Swift seems to answer a telephone very similar to the one that she speaks in from the “Our Song” music video. = The old Taylor Swift is dead, and her answering the same phone is symbolic of her readiness to just throw all the old stereotypes aside and be
Taylor refers to herself when she was younger, along with a neighbor boy, as "dirty-kneed kids scrapping to beat hell and trying to land on our feet" (TBT 2). Her independence is also evident in the way she dressed. When teased that she dressed like an eye test for color blindness, she reveals she was actually flattered. "I had decided early on that if I couldn't dress elegant, I'd dress memorable" (TBT 6).
The story I chose for this analysis is “Why, you reckon?” by Langston Hughes. IN this analysis I will be focusing on how the great depression in Harlem had effect on the story, how racism played a part, and how or if the characters were justifyied in their actions. During this time period the intense racial divide combined with the economic harships that plagued the U.S. during the 1923’s makes for an interesting story that makes you think if the charaters were really justified.
In the world of music, billboard and celebrities, Taylor Swift is no guest to the industry that made her famous over the years. From a talented teenage girl from Nashville, to a 25 year old pop queen whose net worth is $200 million. From her talents in her song-writing about love, relationships and guys, she has gained the likes of millions of people all over the world through her music. Her music inspires many teens and young adults through her own personal relationships and feelings that she freely expresses in her songs. With numerous awards for her songs and music videos such as “You belong with me” that won her the best female video at MTV music Awards in 2009, she has become a well known
Taylor Swift is once again under fire over the allegedly racist theme of her new music video for “Wildest Dreams.”
Abortion is a procedure in which a pregnancy is terminated by the removal of a fetus or embryo. This procedure has been and is still a controversial topic and debate in society, individuals have different opinions and arguments towards this subject. Many people defend their argument and opinion is based on their own value system. Although abortion is a matter of reproductive rights, individuals will perceive it by their own ethics and morals. Philosophers Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, and John Stuart Mill discuss and express their own system of morals and ethics.
Taylor Swift’s debut album contained such songs as Our Song, Teardrops on my Guitar, and Picture to Burn. Swift’s approach is perhaps more country than the Dixie Chicks in a few regards. The banjo is featured throughout the record and more traditional country percussion, as well as more country-style lyrics. However, she stands out with a crystal-clear voice and excellent use of metaphor throughout her songwriting. In terms of musicality, Swift may not be the most gifted, aside from her voice. But in her songs, her personality shines through in a way that pulls light through into your ears, noted especially in her song Love
I chose “Here We Aren’t, So Quickly” by Johnathan Sofran Foer, and “Wake Up Call” by Megan McGuire. They have similar underlying themes and will be an interesting comparison. “Here We Aren’t, So Quickly” is about what seems to be a daydream about the future relationship between two lovers and how it evolves over the course of their adults lives. “Wake Up Call” is about the relationship between a girl and her parents as she grows up from adolescence in to young adulthood. .
An identity crisis is defined as a period, at which an individual struggles with one's own sense of self. I believe that everyone goes through such a crisis at one point or another; however, I do not feel it is correct to say, everyone goes through this type of crisis entering their first year of college. Now, I am not say that someone can’t have an identity crisis entering college for the first time, for is was made clear in the essay, that some people can indeed, have a sudden realization of either finding or losing one’s self in college. In turn, it is fair to say that most people do develop a sort of crisis when embarking in the college life. It's a time in your life when you experience the world in a new light—and usually on your own.
“Wow, your house smells amazing!” I exclaimed to my friend Kristi as we sat in her living room. Two years ago, I remember walking into Kristi’s house and taking a deep breath. Every time I visited her house, I relished the pleasant scent floating around her house, so one day I expressed this to her. However, her reply surprised me. “My house doesn’t smell like anything!” she responded. Initially confused, I slowly realized since she lived in her house her entire life, she no longer noticed the smell. This made me wonder if I no longer noticed things in my own life. Sometimes people’s lives mirror this situation. Settling for lackluster lives and sinful actions, they fail to notice problems in their lives anymore. Through “Dare You to Move”
Swift’s debut song isn’t like the others. Her big debut song wasn’t about revenge or heartbreak, but rather her inspiration, Tim McGraw. ‘Tim McGraw” was written in Taylor’s math class when she was 16, along side of Liz Rose. Not only does it remind her of her true inspiration, but also of her un-named summer love, who was going to college, and had to dump Swift. But, not only was this her big debut, it also happened to be her first ever published song. It was published June 19, 2006 by Big Machine Records, and has sold over a million downloads. It reached about 40 and 6 on the “Billboard Top 100” and “Hot Country Songs” in the United States.
Death has a very different way of reacting to his job than what our reaction is. Our reaction to his job is cruel, despicable, and unnecessary. But to him, it’s what he has to do. It’s what he was meant to do. So to him, of course he’s isn’t going to have a super dramatic reaction to something he does everyday. “It kills me sometimes, how people die.” This quote resembles that Death does know that he carries them away after death. He recognizes that, however, it still shocks him. The overall death of a human shocks him, to where his reaction is he knows that he has to do this but at the same time it’s saddening. “I am haunted by humans.” Now this quote takes more into our reaction to deaths of loved ones. We of course are disappointed and melancholy. Although, no one thinks about the effect our reactions have on Death. Our reactions cause him to suffer and his reaction is disappointment. So, Death’s reaction shows he is caring because he doesn’t react in a harsh way like we do.
XXXTENTACION is a very explicit rapper and songwriter who has been on the come up faster than most artists today. His recent music video “Look At Me!” has recently sparked some outrage from social media sources and viewers. The original song is typical of what the rapper usually does, promoting profane content. His audience was expecting the new music video to match the song and preparing themselves for a vulgar video. However, this nineteen-year-old rapper used his platform on social media to clickbait his followers and attempt to spread awareness about the faults in our society, especially in the black community.
Ever since I was in eighth grade, I have been obsessed with Taylor Swift. She has been my role model since I was thirteen. When you look at most singers today, they have to be singing about drugs or alcohol, using vulgar language, or performing half-dressed. You never see Taylor Swift doing anything that she would be ashamed of later in life. On the other hand, she has had many relationships that have lasted short time periods. At least, she is not getting married for 72 days or even 24 hours such Kim Kardashian or Britney Spears. This is why I chose to write a research paper on her.
If Swift truly hated humanity then he wouldn’t have written about it so much, he would have written about things that he cares about. Also, I don't think it is possible for him to hate humanity because not everyone is the same and it would be very hard to hate every single kind of personality or morality from every single person. Humanity is too broad
At the young age of just twenty-four, singer/songwriter Taylor Swift has already made her mark on the world. With four platinum records, several hit singles, and seven Grammy Awards, the young songwriter has been a source of both entertainment and inspiration for people of all ages. Unlike other artists, Taylor Swift is completely fearless with her songwriting. Whether she’s singing about her first day of school, falling in love, or breaking up with a boyfriend, Swift always shares intimate details about her personal life in her lyrics. Many people love this quality about her, but others think Swift gives women a bad reputation by appearing to be a flawless and blameless victim in her songs. Regardless of the negative thoughts some people have about her, Taylor Swift is undoubtedly a huge success and a role model for teenage girls all over the world.
