On January 14, 1964, police got a search warrant and raided Loma del Angel Ranch (Blanco, n.d.). As the sisters were herded throughout the ranch, girls pointed out spots for police to find the bodies. Meanwhile, angry villagers gathered demanding lynching of the sisters. The sisters could do nothing but watch as all of their secrets were dug up. Officers found the bodies of 11 men, 80 women and several fetuses, a total of over 91 (The Four Gonzalez Valenzuela Sisters, 2011).

Chipotle is my favorite place to eat. As I am sure it is for other people. Chipotle is a fast food Mexican grill. They are most known for how big they make your burritos. Now it is fast food but it isn’t actually fast, they’re like a restaurant but without the wait. They serve all naturally raised meat and organic beans. So there food is pretty healthy and worth eating. The employees are always nice and it just a great place to eat over all. Chipotle is a great choice for a quick fast food stop because it gives great service, atmosphere, food and value. My experience there is always a good one.
The book Murder in the Bayou: Who Killed the Women Known as the Jeff Davis 8?, written by independent journalist and private investigator Ethan Brown, tells the horrific true story of the bayou town of Jennings, Louisiana located in the heart of the Jefferson Davis parish. During the four year duration between 2005 and 2009, the town of Jennings was on edge after the discovery of the bodies of eight murdered women were found in the filthy canals and swamps. The victims became known as the “Jeff Davis 8.” For years, local law enforcement suspected a serial killer, and solely investigated the murders based on that theory alone. The victims were murdered in varying manors, but when alive they all shared many commonalities and were connected to

Gartner-Denowh Angus Ranch (GDAR) is located just on the outskirts of Sidney, MT, a close-knit family run ranch that focuses on raising efficient and functional cattle bred for the commercial cattle operation. GDAR began in 1957 when Joe Gartner and Russel Denowh bought 20 head of registered Angus cows from a dispersion sale in Montana. In 1974, Denowh and his son, Mickey, bought out Joe Gartner but kept the commercial name. At this time of the GDAR's life, they were calving about 150 cows and selling around 60 bulls per year. Russell's other son, Paul, joined the operation in 1984.
The missing woman hung from the ceiling, skinned open like an animal. The head had been cut off, and much of the body presented severe cuts that resembled a cow in a butchery (Fox & Levin 2011, pp. 3-4). Sadly, this extremely macabre event was just the first discovery in a series of terrible findings. After scrutinizin...

The presence of the past is everywhere. One does not have to look very far to realize that the past has quite an influence on the present. In fact, there are a few examples of modern works of art at the University of California, San Diego, that bring to mind architectural works of the past. One such example is the La jolla Project, which is a collection of stone blocks on top of a hill on the Revelle College lawn south of Galbraith Hall. The isolated groups of blocks refer to architectural elements such as columns, posts, lintels, windows, and doors; but the collection, as a whole, resembles a modern reconstruction of Stonehenge. The La Jolla Project and Stonehenge differ from each other in many ways, but they also share some striking silmilarities that are constant reminders that the past is very much a part of modern life.
In any wrongful conviction, there would be some groups and parties received major impacts from the consequences. The victim, or the individual who was accused wrongly, is the one that under many effects. Turn back to the case of Carrillo, it can be seen that he had not finished high school by the time he was convicted of being the murderer. He spent his 19 years of youth behind the bars, has not had a chance to take care of his pregnant girlfriend; he did not have a chance to take care of his son during his grown-up period; he did not have a chance to enjoy his own life like any of his friends. After being free, Carrillo desires to take a shower and enjoy with his friends before continuing living freely later on (Daily Mail Reporter, 2011). In Carrillo case, at least, he is still alive, and can start his life again at the age of 37; however, some cases cannot be undone. For

Once the police arrived the scene was a filled with blood and brain matter with both Kitty and Jose getting shot in the head. The shot to Jose caused him to get partly decapitated and Kitty was shot several times in the face causing her to become unrecognizable and they were both shot in the knee caps. With the placement of the bullets in both knee caps the police assumed that the murders were a mob hit. The police did not correctly search and questions at the crime scene, because if they had they would have found that the weapons the brothers used to commit the crime were thrown into the back of Erik’s car and the brothers still had gun powder residue on their hands. The nature of the killings led the police to classifying the killings as a mob hit.
Between the years of 1976 to 1983, the period known as the ‘Dirty War’ was in full force in Argentina. During this period, thousands of people mysteriously went missing, and are referred to now as the ‘Disappeared’. It is believed that many of the disappeared were taken by agents of the Argentine government, and perhaps tortured and killed before their bodies were disposed of in unmarked graves or rural areas. Whenever the female captives were pregnant, their children were stolen away right after giving birth, while they themselves remained detained. It is estimated that 500 young children and infants were given to families with close ties to the military to be raised. Within this essay I would like to touch on the brief history of the Dirty war and why the military felt it was necessary to take and kill thousands of Argentina’s, and also the devastating affects the disappeared, and stolen children are having on living relatives of those taken or killed. It is hard to imagine something like this happening in North America relatively recently. To wakeup and have members of your family missing, with no explanation, or to one day be told your parents are not biologically related is something Argentina’s had to deal with, and are continuing to face even today.
