The sandy shore of the dark, mysterious Loch Ness is surrounded by large rolling hills of green. The day is coming to an end, the sun is starting to slip behind the tall trees and in the fading light, and an enormous, slick body ascends from the murky water. A long neck is briefly visible through the mist; it slips back into the depths only seconds after it appeared. There is a major controversy on the identity of the beast lurking in the Loch Ness in Scotland. There are many hypotheses on the topic, all showing some type of research or picture evidence gathered by locals, scientists and tourists. Although a large amount of people believe that the Loch Ness monster is a reptilian plesiosaur or a variety of sea serpent, with scientific evidence it can be proven that the beast is actually a long- necked seal.
The legend

The nature of the long- necked seal is very shy and they have retiring behavior, the features and geography of the Loch Ness fully support the animal’s reluctance and timid actions. The animals are more likely to appear on warmer days, this also results in the appearance of people which can account for the recorded findings in Scotland. The speed of these animals, over twenty knots, can also account for why their identity can be mistaken for other animals or why there are so many theories (Shovlin 28). A Weddell seal, a species of Antarctic seal, have been known to hyper oxygenate their blood stream for long dives, up to half an hour below the freezing ice. This relates to the long-necked seal because it illustrates how they could have survived the freezing temperatures of the loch for so long, and with being below the surface it accounts for the rare sightings (Shucker). The mystery of Loch Ness is slowly, but surely being uncovered by new scientific findings and the piecing together of well- known
What is scaly, creepy, 50 feet long, and swims in the world's most notorious lake? If you said The Loch Ness Monster, then you’re correct! The Loch Ness Monster, mostly known as the creature Nessie, is a huge, “mythical” creature that has been scaring the people of Ireland for centuries, but this monster is actually real.
Seaworld is a giant marine life theme park. The greatest attraction to these many theme park would be those killer whales. In fact, these killer whales are the face of the park. As gigant as these mammals are, seaworld is keeping them in some pretty tight quarters. Mr. Jett and Mr.Ventre says “Wild killer whales can swim a hundred miles daily as they socialize, forage, communicate, and breed. In stark contrast, with little horizontal or vertical space in their enclosures, captive orcas swim only limited distances, with most spending many hours surface resting.” The animals don't have the freedom they need. Also when taking the whales out of their natural habit the whales tend to be depressed and not as heath in that situation. They need their freedom in the big ocean blue. Bring them into the small living units, breeding whales in captivity all for the entertainment of humans. At young ages the calves are taken away from their mothers on to a new seaworld park. Mothers of the calves have even been seen denying their offspring.
Hey, I didn’t see you there, how are you?I'm just wondering whether or not a big ol' grizzly bear is going to come charging at me at any point in my life, but seeing as grizzly bears are endangered that probably won't happen. In the past, there were thought to be around 50,000 grizzly bears in North America, nowadays they are growing sparse there are estimated to be only around 1800, now not even a 20th of the population in the past. Most of these grizzlies are located in Yellowstone National Park and Alaska, but they can also be found in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Montana. Some are thought to be in Washington.
One of the most well-known urban legends told is the story of Bigfoot. Much of the research has shown that there are several names assigned to the mammoth ape. According to Napier (1973), Bigfoot would be the creature found mostly in Northwest America, Sasquatch would be a creature named in British Colombia, the 49th parallel in the north-west states of America and Northern California, and the Abominable Snowman, or the Yeti would be the creature named in the Himalayas. Of course, “Wild Man” and “Savage” have also been names used to identify the creature. There’s been thousands of sightings across the world, but there have also been many misidentifications where those who think they have seen Bigfoot have really just seen an ordinary animal or person. Arment (2006) states an individual’s perception may color the eyewitness account. Such misidentifications include: hermits, fugitives, refugees, bears, gorillas, and simply people making up stories or rumors. In addition to sightings, there have been photos, videos, movies, and TV shows that strongly indicates the possibility of the existence of this creature. Though there is much evidence from sightings, myths, and recordings that Bigfoot exists, there is also much proof that it could all be a hoax. Incorrect sightings have led skeptics to argue over the existence of this being stating Bigfoot is really just a fable. So one has to ask oneself, does Bigfoot really exist or is it just another urban legend?
Bigfoot’s existence can no longer be denied. No longer is it a question of Bigfoot being real, but rather a question of man’s capability in being able to believe the truth. The facts cannot be mistaken. Besides being seen time and time again, video footage has been collected. This alone is enough to make many believe, but for the rest, the physical evidence is unmistakably real. As the theory progresses, more and more credible researchers come forward to show support in such a creature’s existence. They do this at the risk of losing their own credibility. None, however, are capable of an explanation for Bigfoot’s uncanny ability to remain hidden from human observation, the nature of which remains to be a question. Perhaps, though, as more and more people start to believe in the truth, questions will be answered and the mystery solved.
One of the most intriguing creatures known to cryptozoologists it the Loch Ness Monster, often called Nessie. She is known to live in Loch Ness Lake in the Scottish Highlands, which is 23 miles long and almost 750 feet deep in certain parts, making it difficult to locate the monster. There are multiple theories on what N...
Canadian’s culture initiates from their wildlife and forests. Many different ways of living in Canada’s regions has an impact on the cultural view. The major problem with the wildlife view involving cultural acts is Seal Hunting. Seal Hunting has been continuing for years and harming many of the seas natural inhabitants. In the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which is in the Maritimes, is a popular venue for such activities. An exploration of a day in the life of a seal and hunter is portrayed in the Maritimes, and its effect on the culture in the Maritimes.
Over the past century and a half, the spur of Bigfoots existence has questioned many researchers and non-believers alike. Extensive research and findings have sparked many to seek out if there is another creature amongst our woods. Bigfoots existence is limited to substantial evidence such as sightings, footprints, and somatogenic traces. Ben Radford the author of “Bigfoot at 50 Evaluating a Half-Century of Bigfoot Evidence” explains effectively of the possible existence through extensive evidence and theories whether the beast actually resides among us.
The origin of modern day whales, a mystery that has puzzled paleontologists for years, may have just been solved with the discovery of an ankle bone. This discovery might sound simple and unimportant, but the bones of these ancient animals hold many unanswered questions and provide solid proof of origin and behavior. The relationship between whales and other animals has proven to be difficult because whales are warm-blooded, like humans, yet they live in the sea. The fact that they are warm-blooded suggests that they are related to some type of land animal. However, the questions of exactly which animal, and how whales evolved from land to water, have remained unanswered until now.
Monster is the popular book, particularly in school. This classic beloved story was written by Walter Dean Myers and it's about Steve Harmon on trial for his life. But throughout the book, Steve's parents still love him. In this world, parents love is so strong even they don't trust their child or the child has done something bad. Parents have strong emotion for their child.
The legendary Bigfoot has reportedly been spotted near a Lake Geneva, according to a paranormal investigator in the surrounding area.
This finding, however, raises many questions about animal’s rights. In order for the scientists to get information on this new species they had to murder nine other whales, one ‘accidentally.’ This finding was a great feat for science because it is important to learn as much as we can about a species before they become extinct. The rate in which large aquatic mammals are reaching extinction has been rising. So although there is much to be found and much that has been found about not only the new species of the baleen whale, but also the other two species that have risen to the surface, it was not done without farthing along the extinction process of another species.
Seal slaughtering had taken place on the ice floes off Canada’s East coast in two areas which are the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the east of the Magdalen Islands for almost half a decade. Each year, thousands of Canadian fishermen murder and shoot two-weeks to two-months old seals, drag them and skin the pups while still alive and conscious. They sell the skin for leather and fashion garments while the remains of the body are left on the ice to rot. I believe that the process of clubbing seals is cruel and that it should stop before the population of seals is endangered.
The Loch Ness monster Many times we have been in a dilemma whether to believe or not someone who tries to persuade us for something and very often by listening to his arguments and by having enough evidence we finally manage to get out of the dilemma. Nevertheless, sometimes we cannot be sure about an event because although there is enough evidence, our minds cannot be persuaded. An example to justify that is the existence of the Loch
Years later however, in 1994, the photograph was reported as a fake by an art teacher named Alastair Boyd who claimed to have saw the animal himself in 1979. Boyd discovered that the picture was nothing more than a wood neck attached to a toy submarine. The Loch Ness Monster may or may not be real. No evidence has been found affirming the creatures existence, but no evidence has been found denying the animals existence either. The truth behind the Loch Ness Monster may never be known, but the legend will continue to expand so long as some still believe.
