These are three of the reasons of the Lizzie Borden case.The issue of the Lizzie Borden case is a complex one, but it is vital to discuss because there are many reasons why she could be proved guilty ,but there are also reasons why she should be proved not guilty. In the 1880’s the people thought that Lizzie Borden was not guilty.There was seven witnesses. The witnesses was Dr. Benjamin Handy, Hyman Lubinsky, Adelaide Churchill, Bridget Sullivan. Lizzie and the questioner states in the Inquest “ Q. Had you got a fish line?A. Not here. We had some at the farm.Q. Had you got a fish hook? A. No sir” (7). Lizzie knew that they didn't have any fishing lines. If Lizzie knew they did not have any fishing lines at the house , so even if she was to look for the sinkers she could have lost them again because she did not have a fishing line to put them on at the moment. So over all the some of the people in the 1880s believed that Lizzie was not guilty. Yes, because I ate some pears up there”(8).With Lizzie knowing that she was sick she ate three pears in less than fifteen to twenty minutes in the morning. Another reason is that why did she get up onto the second level just to eat pears when again she was supposed to be looking for sinkers for her fishing pole for the fishing derby that she was going to in two weeks.
