Have you ever thought about the antihero in Little Brother?Seriously have you ever thought. Is Marcus Yallow a good role model for kids? Well that's what this essay will be talking about. The book portrays Marcus as a trouble maker who saves San Francisco. However he did quite the number on random innocent people to save San Francisco. He was hacking into the school and he always was sneaking out and by passing security. He didn't care about the other peoples consequences for the crimes or actions that he committed.
Marcus Yallow was very upset with the Department of Homeland Security, DHS for short. The DHS was taking over the city and looking at people's activity, if they were going somewhere on a train signed in somewhere etc.

Would you the reader want your child or any other child to do this to a school and cheat their way through. Marcus is very good at hacking computers and computer software. In the start of the book he gets called to the principals office because of something someone did online. It was him but he uses a fake username called W1n5t0n, pronounced Winston. In the book he gets called to the office for finding ways to get around the school security systems by using counter measures. Also he is accused of giving out the so called counter measures to other students so they can also bypass the school security. Further more the principal states to Marcus that "We know that this w1n5t0n character is responsible for the theft of last year's standardized tests." (12) After that Marcus says that he didn't do it but it was a sweet hack. That just shows that there are more people like Marcus that can hack. So the the as the reader would you want kids being like Marcus. Because in the book there are already people hacking like him and cheating. Sure it's good for kids to know how to do cool things. But remember what happened when Lizard Squad hacked Sony and X-box, when people know how to hack something so simple it could turn into something huge and terrible. If all kids were hacking like that you probably wouldn't want to be going on my phone all the

Summer at Devon is easygoing as teachers mellow out and the rule enforcement dwindles, such carefree behavior represents childhood; Devon’s winter session is ultimately more strict and level, emphasizing the mood in adulthood. As the sun shines bright, tension unravels and everyone at Devon loosens up including the teachers as Gene explains on page 23, “Now on these clear June days in New Hampshire they appeared to uncoil, they seemed to believe that we were with them about half of the time, and only spent the other half trying to makes fools of them.” The summer days are filled with happy-go-lucky antics that seem to come with no serious consequence; exactly how a young child would spend everyday of his life as a youthful boy. There is no
In the novel, My Brother Sam is Dead, by James and Christopher Collier, they teach that there are many other ways to solve conflict besides war. War is violent, disgusting, and gruesome and so many people die in war. Families separate in war because of how many people want to be in the thrill of the war and also how many innocent family members die in the midst of war. Lastly, war is worthless and it was caused by a disagreement over something little and the outcome of war is not worth the many lives, time, and money and there are other ways to solve conflict besides to fight. War causes so many negative outcomes on this world that it needs to be avoided at all costs.
The new phases of life and social context is predicated through the sum of feats and experiences as crises and adversity are usually the greatest motivator which propel individuals to become better than they were before. J.C. Burke’s ‘The Story of Tom Brennan’ (TSTB) is an example of the transitional process through entering a new, unknown area which acts as a catalyst for beneficial change. Obstructed by turmoil both mentally and physically, the protagonist Tom Brennan relieves his severe life in the town of Coghill achieving new standards in conjunction to Lisa Forrest’s article ‘Testing new waters after leaving the swimming pool’ (TNWALTS) is another type towards transitional change that explores the personal crisis and career changes over
He was not like his brothers, he was different, he was smarter, healthier, and stronger. At the age of five he advanced to the home of the student, where he was scolded for learning faster than his brothers. Equality teachers told him that he had evil in his bones because he was taller than his brothers. Then at the age of fifteen when the house of vocations came Equality was guilty of the great transgression of preference because he wanted to be a scholar, but his selected vocation was to be a street sweeper. Every day while he was swept by the fields he would watch and smile at Liberty and she would smile back.
Christopher Johnson McCandless, a.k.a Alexander Supertramp, “Master of his Own Destiny.” He was an intelligent young man who presented himself as alone but really he was never lonely. However, he believed that life was better lived alone, with nature, so he ventured off throughout western United States before setting off into Alaska’s wild unprepared where he died. Some may say he was naive to go off on such a mission without the proper food and equipment but he was living life the way he wanted to and during his travels he came across three people: Jan Burres, Ronald Franz, and Wayne Westerberg. McCandless befriended these people, it is believed that he made such a strong impression on them that their connection left them with strange feelings after finding out about McCandless’ death.
Character Compare and Contrast Essay The Young and The Innocent Views The thesis of my paper would have to be, How Being Young, While Having an Innocent View of The World Could Be Misleading. I am comparing both Tom from “A Woman on The Roof” and Sammy from “A&P”. Both characters are very similar. Yet in some ways the two characters Tom and Sammy are not much alike. Both Tom and Sammy are rather young I would say both are around seventeen or eighteen years old.
After hearing a brief description of the story you might think that there aren’t many good things about they story. However, this is false, there are many good things in this book that makes it a good read. First being that it is a very intriguing book. This is good for teenage readers because often times they don’t willingly want to read, and this story will force the teenage or any reader to continue the book and continue reading the series. Secondly, this is a “good” book because it has a good balance of violence. This is a good thing because it provides readers with an exciting read. We hear and even see violence in our everyday life and I believe that it is something teenagers should be exposed to. This book gives children an insig...
The Odyssey and O Brother Where Art Thou are considered a representation of each other in some ways and prove more similar than it is commonly thought. Although the overall persona of each portrayal is quite different, it still illustrates the same message. A good lesson to be learned from this comparison is to contemplate your actions to prevent bleak situations from occurring. The characters in these tales had to understand the consequences by experiencing it themselves. Acknowledging the time period that these voyages took place in, they didn't have anybody to teach them proper ways to go about situations.
People always think that the future will bring greater and better things. But, honestly do we even know if the future will be better than in the past? The answer is no we don't, not at all actually. We can't predict what the future holds though. In the book 1984, by George Orwell, the main character Winston Smith is not happy with the future so he tries to remember everything from the better past. There is a company called THE BIG BROTHER which controls you basically and telescreens tell you what to do and what to think think anything else is a thought crime, and the thought police will arrest you for it. Winston Smith is a rebel against THE BIG BROTHER, weak, and was very lonely because he was the only normal person alive.
“They can murder whoever else they would like, for me the war will never be over.” (Collier and Collier 200) This quote was taken from chapter 14 of the book My Brother Sam is Dead by James and Christopher Collier, and was said by Mrs. Meeker. Mrs. Meeker is a mother and wife during the Revolutionary War, and lost both her son and her husband due to the war. Sam Meeker, who is the oldest Meeker, brother ran away to fight for the Patriots, though his parents claim to be Tories. Although both sides of the war are experienced and expressed in My Brother Sam is Dead, the authors make a strong conclusion throughout the book that war is gruesome.
In a quintessential storybook, a hero's character is meant to convey a lesson, and teach a behavior that the reader should adopt. Unfortunately, not all protagonists have the good character of the archetypical hero. Such is the case in The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, one of the most widely taught and analyzed novels with a teenage protagonist: sixteen-year-old Holden Caulfield. Although The Catcher in the Rye is an enduring classic about the woes of growing up, its content is inappropriate for school study due to the fact that the main character, Holden Caulfield, is a poor role model for impressionable adolescents.
Guns drastically alter character’s actions and outlooks in novels. In the dyadic stories, Jim the Boy and The Blue Star, guns play an important role for the protagonist Jim (the boy). Tony Earley’s saga places Jim’s (the boy) childhood in a setting that showcases the usage of guns. The historical context of the Great Depression adds a dynamic to this theme as characters are affected by the wars around that period while in the location, rural Maryland, residents commonly use pistols---for self-defense---and hunting rifles---to obtain food. Because of this Jim’s relationship with guns was influenced by those who used them. Throughout Jim the Boy and the Blue Star Tony Earley uses this relationship with guns to provide insight toward his character
New Boy is a short film that envelops the viewer into a third person character and leads viewers to experience how it feels to be an outsider “The New Boy”, the audience experiences this feeling through the Protagonist 's mind in this case “Joseph.” This short film not only focuses on the idea of bullying but also the idea of being an outsider. The positioning of the title “New Boy” on the left-hand side of the frame indicates that the new boy will be powerless.
The first reason to support that mobile phones should be banned in schools is that devices can be used to cheating for instance, text friends about answers during a test, take picture of test questions with mobile phones to send to friends, search the internet to answers during a test, and store information on mobile phones to look at during a test. It is suggested by Benenson Strategy Group (2008) indicated that 65 per c...
