“No Jab, No Play.”

Vaccines. Or as the fun doctor at your family practice puts it - SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, SHOTS, are one of humanities most remarkable yet controversial triumphs today.

Having saved millions of lives, vaccinations are one of the most amazing medical breakthroughs. There was a time where when a new vaccine was introduced, it was a cause for celebration. However, despite their success, small groups are sceptical and vocal about their concerns on the detrimental effects of vaccines towards a person’s health. These days, their small voice is amplified through multiple forms of contemporary news media, often causing mass hysteria and dividing society for no reason.

So, I won’t endeavour to. Instead, I am taking the concerns you, the readers of the Ink Drop, who are most definitely medically trained professionals that have an extensive knowledge in the field of medicine and vaccines.

Opinions are not overly helpful when discussing this sensitive issue because opinions, interesting as they may be, can never replace facts. And that is what we’re really looking for.
So, let’s start with the first fact: Both sides have risks. But, what we really need to know is: what are those risks? Can children get long-term health problems from vaccinations? And are the diseases we’re vaccinating against really such a threat anymore? Or has this all just become one big mass hysteria?

South Australia has introduced legislation that would ban the enrolment of unvaccinated children in preschool and child care centres, and are encouraging other states to follow. The number of people against vaccinations is increasing rapidly in Australia. The only thing Australia should have an increase of is better Netflix shows and faster food
