More than 2000 years have passed since humans discovered music. Music is an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color (anonymous, 2014). It started out as a simple striking of materials that produced sounds and was later developed with the inventions of musical instruments such as stringed instruments. The development of music evolves from prehistoric until the present period of time. Music has been very popular to people, not only to adults but also to teenagers and children. Its popularity can be attributed to the components of music such as lyrics, genres, artists and specifically, being a big part of the present media. The researchers came up with this topic due to the influence of music in the present time and the stress that is being encountered recently.
In this paper, the researchers will provide the definition of music and stress prior to the reliable sources and not just something that is self-explained. The different stressful situations and music’s effects on teenagers will also be discussed in this paper. Furthermore, the researchers will present explanations on how music helps relieve stress.
Until today, other researchers further conduct different studies on music. One of these is music as medicine. Novotney (2013) claims that researchers are still investigating on how music therapy can improve health outcomes among people. Majority of the results only leads to just how music influences health. The researchers discovered that listening to and playing music increase the body's production of the antibody immunoglobulin A and natural killer cells — the cells that attack invading viruses and boost the immune system's ef...

If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
Music has been around since the very beginning of time. The human body flows in a rhythmic syncopation. Music is used to change one’s mood and to inspire those who open their minds. It has the potential to cure diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. Humans, of every culture and society, function with a type of rhythmic music. As humans, we are hard wired to respond to music (Mannes). The human brain responds to music in such a way that the brain becomes more open to new rhythms, ideas, and values. Music has the power to take over the human body. This makes it easier to overcome conflict and change the ideals of somebody while using music (The Power of Music).

I’m writing my paper on Music Therapy, and how music affects the mind and body, to treat various illnesses. Music therapy is the prescribed use of music under the direction of specially trained therapists to influence changes in negative conditions and behavior. It accomplishes this by maintaining and restoring mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health .One type of theory is the idea that music, movement, and speech are inseparable. Music evokes unconscious thoughts and feelings, which in turn expand self-awareness. Music therapy is a powerful and non-invasive form of sensory stimulation which provokes responses due to the familiarity, predictability, and feelings of security associated with it. In some medical settings such as mental health services, it has been used to decrease patient’s perception of pain, anxiety and depression. ICU patients listening to music showed a significant decrease in blood pressure. It has been shown to calm the patient and to relax their mind and body. Music eases the burden on the arteries and nerves through relaxation. Du...

Modern medicine is the combination of modern technologies and ancient practices. This article is about the evidence and the outcome that listening to music has on late adolescents. For years evidence has shown that listening to music can provoke and emotional reaction in people. This study looks a little bit more in depth on the happiness side of the emotions. The theory being tested is can music listening be linked with more global happiness. A subjective well-being (SWB) is what defines global happiness and people’s cognitive and affective quality of life. SWB is a life outcome which comes from many factors like economic wellness, personality, and psychosocial prosperity. Could youth listening to music bring a positive influence to their global happiness? Music is one of the most pleasurable things in many people’s lives. Music also influences motivation and is an artistic outlet from adolescents. In the developmental period, music listening engages adolescents be increasing autonomy in their everyday lives (Steinberg). In adolescents’ autonomy development, music plays and important function, which could result in their global happiness. Some of the positive role of music can depend on the level of self-determination that drives music-listening behaviors, with higher self-determined motivation being more likely to promote optimal development and well-being (Ryan).
There have always been discussions of the effects music has on ones behavior, and how it’s related to Psychology. The truth has never really been verified among common knowledge, but it’s usually something that intrigues people. They say heavy metal and rap can make teenagers violent, sad and depressing music can make teenagers sad and depressed, and some say it’s best to listen to classical music when doing schoolwork because it makes your brain more active. There have been many people that reported how music has effects on their behavior. It can lift their mood, “fuel the fire” when they’re angry, or even make it easier for them to fall asleep. People never really get the chance to research the actual science of music, and how it changes people attitudes.
It has been scientists' belief that music must have been present in the ancestral population prior to the dispersal of humans around the world. Therefore it is believed that music must have been in existence for at least 50,000 years, with the first music being invented in Africa and then evolving into becoming a fundamental constituent of human life. Any culture of music is influenced by the aspect of their culture, including their social and economic organization, climate, and access to technology. People express their emotions and ideas through their music. Music expresses the situations and how music is listened to and played. The attitude towards music players and composers varies between regions and periods of history. Music history" is the distinct subfield of musicology and history which studies music (particularly western art music) from a chronological perspective. ("History of Music")

Hence, a sound, a rhythm, a beat has naturally direct send message to one’s mind that bring him calm, relax, safe just like a baby under protection of a mother.
