When people ask what my favorite sport is, I quickly reply soccer. I never really gave much thought to who my favorite soccer player is until I saw Lionel Messi for the first time. I saw him play for Argentina and he showed me how great soccer really is. He has a great style of both teamwork and individual skill. The ability he has to keep control of the ball is what made me interested in soccer. Without him, who knows if I would even begin to enjoy soccer. He shows both individual skill and the importance of teamwork. He does not only score a ton of goals, but also gives many assists. Lionel Messi, in my opinion, is one of the greatest soccer players in history. Lionel Messi is most definitely one of my role models. Messi doesn’t only teach me how to improve on individual skill but also can show me the importance of not showing off. The soccer skill that this man has is unbelievable. Lionel Messi is a great role model. I remember one time when I was watching him play. He had just scored one of the coolest goals of his career. He spun the ball just out of reach of the goalkeeper's hands. With a smooth and controlled kick, the ball trickled into the net with a serene kind of spin. It seemed as if the whole thing had been in slow motion. As soon a the ball smacked up against the net, the entire net jolted back. The goalkeeper dove and grunted as he tried to reach the ball, but he just couldn’t. Lionel Messi’s shot was just too good. The whole crowd cheered so much. The best part, to me, is that after Messi scored his amazing goal, he didn't even celebrate. Messi just simply gave the ball to the referee and got prepared for kickoff. This showed me that even though he had scored an amazing goal, Lionel Messi did... ... middle of paper ... ... around player, but Messi also possesses the capability to have the most CAPS (goals). Messi has such a large capacity to take criticism as well. His coach may yell at him loudly, but unlike most players, Lionel will take what the coach is saying to him and use said critiques to make himself a better player. Despite the evidence, most players will scream at the referees telling them that they're wrong, not Lionel Messi. Messi will just simply sigh and agree with the referee, even if he disagrees with the call. You will hear stories about players that have a great amount of playing time, but overall, Messi pretty much holds the record. This man is hardly ever taken out of the game (unless he is injured) and it is mostly because the coach knows that Messi can get the job done. If I could meet one professional soccer player it would be, no doubt, Lionel Messi.

Soccer fans all over the world have participated in the debate of who is the best soccer player today. The debate has been narrowed down to two candidate: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Both Ronaldo and Messi have many fans around the world. Many say Messi is the best soccer player on the planet, and many say Ronaldo is. Now, they both are really great players, but in my opinion Ronaldo has the slight edge over Messi. Cristiano Ronaldo is better because of his athleticism, his playing in two leagues, his worth, and his success with his country.
At 16 years old Lionel Messi made his first debut at a friendly game with porto.
...oke multiple records. He helped to win the UEFA Euro Team of the Tournament in both 2004 and 2012, and the UEFA Team of the Year not once, not twice, but six times in the years 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Athlets have been lookd up to as role models for as long as sports have exsted. There is just something attractive about the thought of being in good physical condition and being talented in sports. But, are athlets the kind of people that children should be looking up to for direction and guidance? Many children often look up to the professional athletes as role models. In fact, in 1995 Sports Illustrated for Kids did a survey for kids who were ages 7 through 12 about who their role model was. The majority of the kids answered that a professional athlete was who they most looked up to. Only four percent of the children answered that their role model was one of thir parents. Because of today?s media, athletes are constantly in the public eye. Everything they do on and off of the playing field. Some professional athletes speak a positive message through their fame by demonstrating constructive ideas such as teamwork and commitment while they are on the field. Even off of the playing field some athletes set a good example by visiting children in schools, going to hospitals, or even setting up foundations and organizations to help the ill and less fortunate people. However, other athletes are not as considerate to the fact that someone may be looking up to them, some athletes are not concerned about anything other than the sport they are getting paid to play and themselves. These athletes are the ones that propose questions over whether athletes should be considered role models or not. A role model can be defined as a person whose behavior, example or success is or can be emulated by others, especially young people. Who would want their child looking up to someone who has been convicted of domestic violence or has a drug addiction? It is an argument of opinion that cannot be settled.

Pele and Maradona are considered by many to be the best players ever to the game. It is not an exaggeration to say that Messi has the claim a position alongside these players in soccer's pantheon of greats (Coggin). As a matter of fact, He had been described as Diego Maradona's successor because of his prolific goal scoring record and ability to dribble past challengers. a ball but He is a technical genius with a low center of gravity and pace who can break down any defense off the dribble and raise something out of nothing. He struggles when used as a striker and prefers playing out wide and cutting in on his left foot.(ESPN)
In conclusion, we can see that Messi’s career have been successful in over a short period of time. But, has also had some upsets that were overcome by the young superstar and also overcame his disorder to reach his goal of being a professional soccer player. In addition, all his hard work have paid off because he won some of the most prestigious award that a soccer player can get at this level, like the Golden Ball.
