The Lion’s Den Basketball Showcase was held in Gyms 1&2 on December 18th 2017. We opened the doors at 12:10, and the admission fee was $0.50. We had some members of the King Safe Schools Council act as bodyguards to avoid the risk of people sneaking into our event without paying. In addition to this Nazar marked people’s hands once they’d paid as a proof of purchase. We stayed with this price because we knew that people could play basketball for free and by charging a small amount of money we could increase the number of attendees we had (King students are always looking for a deal). Once participants paid and entered the gym they were asked to move towards the desk where a presentation about NBA Cares our social event was held. To participate …show more content…
We then proceeded to our first game stipulation was the Half Court Challenge. Every participant got three attempts at a chance to make a half court shot. Surprisingly, no one had made a shot but the atmosphere from the participants was very enjoyable to be around. Participants were cheering each other on, laughing at their own attempts and were overall having a good time. Our second game was 4 on 4 basketball half court game. We decided as a group to let everyone pick their own teams of four and the first two teams that came up to the refs (Robel and Simrit) got to play the first game. There were a total of six teams, 3 teams on each side. The conditions were that the game was up to 3, with every shot only counting as 1. It was also king’s court rules, which means that the winning team always stays on and the losing team rotates with the next team in line. Participants who were waiting to play in the next game had to stand on the out of bounds line at all times to avoid confusion. The refs counted each team’s amount of wins which led to our final game. A full court match, with the best team of each side playing against each other was only fitting for our final game. Due to time management, the game was only up to one. The winner of the game won 20 timbits. Because of an exciting play that happened which decided the game, the participants became extremely excited and then left the gym because we announced that the event was
Joes High School’s total enrollment consisted of sixteen girls, and twenty boys. Ten of the boys that had enrolled there played basketball. All of the boys were over six feet tall. Lane Sullivan, the new coach of the basketball team, had never even touched a basketball before he started coaching. Sullivan had never coached anything at all before he started coaching the Joes basketball team. In order to gain knowledge about the sport, he got a book about it. He started coaching in 1927, but before the 1928 basketball season, Joes High School didn’t even have a gym. Instead, they’d practice outside on a dirt court, and two times a week they’d take a bus to the nearest gym, which was ten miles away. In order to play home games, the boys had to play in the local dance hall. The “court” was nowhere near regulation size, and the ceiling was so short that the boys couldn’t shoot an arched shot. The people who attended these basketball games had no place to sit and watch the game, the all stood around the edges of the court and on the small stage. Joes High School finally got their own gym around Christmas time because the people of Joes donated their time and material in order to make it happen.

As previously mentioned in my planning stage, I had chosen to assist ‘David’ to partake in a group basketball game for completion of my HNC Social Care Graded Unit project. In studying David’s support plan; I had identified his social skills needed slight improvement, with his self-motivation needing most encouragement. I believe the group sports activity we planned and performed met these objectives. Additionally, my placement supervisor has forwarded confirmation of the successful completion of this task via email to my senior lecturer.
I have been selected to organize an event by a local sorority to put on a three on three basketball tournament in which all proceeds will go towards a child in the Make A Wish Foundation. The tournament is limited to college students, we would like to invite other community members to join in on the tournament. The tournament will take place in the middle of the spring semester. Marketing Plan: 1 - 2. Executive Summary:
Although the 1992 Olympic Men’s Basketball Team is considered the greatest assemblage of professional athletes in history, the Dream Team does have its critics. Regardless of the bureaucratic problems that stemmed from allowing NBA players to compete in the Olympics, many benefits were reaped by intertwining the two associations. Even though the basketball that was played with the Dream Team did not differ fundamentally, it changed the game of basketball forever because it respected the historical values, inspired young basketball players to pursue their NBA and Olympic dreams, and it treated book reviewers to an action-packed topic whilst also changing international basketball for the better.

The team was ready, we had been working extremely hard for the past seven months for this. We were all in great shape and very rested. A few of the returning players were meeting me at my house to carpool to the final game of the state championship tournament. Everyone knew that the hard work had paid off when we won the semi-final game the preceding day.

17 year-old Rashim Lancit was the standard senior at LaSalle High School. His best friends were Andrew and Colin. They played together for their high school basketball team. However, Rashim loved the game of basketball more than his friends and dreamed to go to the NBA. He thought there was no way that he would make it there. However, that all changed one Friday night at the LaSalle basketball game.

When I was in junior high we had a very competitive block in basketball. One day we all decided that we would have a two-on-two tournament the next Friday to decide who was truly the best and to crush some over-inflated egos -- not mine, I was sure. People began to talk trash on Monday; all week long you could hear the taunts and the heckling. We dared each other to try this or that, threatened each other with monster stuffs and amazing dunks in the faces of our opponents.
The ball comes speeding over the net and slams down onto the face of the court landing just beyond the base line, the line running along the back of the court. I had called her winning point... "out." As I turned towards her, I could see the anger building in her eyes. We walked towards each other, and with only the net separating us, she began to confront me. She argued that, as she saw it, the ball was obviously in and that we should replay the point. I wanted this game as much as she did and we were both standing strong. I finally decided that there was no use in fighting. We had to resolve this argument between ourselves because there were no line judges to decide for us. We decided to replay the point and she won. I tried to convince myself that there would be times when a call would be questionable and that I should try not to point fingers. I still went home discouraged that night because I knew that the call I had made was fair.
Down two with six seconds to go fatigue had taken it tolls on the players. With little energy left; over time was not an option. I knew I had to go for the win. I walk on the floor confident of my ability that was until the whistle blew quickly turning my confident to butterflies. As I fought to get open I quickly saw the ball coming my way. As I rose for a jump shot time itself began to stay still. An in flesh everything became silent. As I watch the ball leave my hand I envisioned greatness; sure the ball was on its way in I started to celebrate that was until I hear the announcer say my teammate tip in miss shot to win us the game. Mix with emotion I celebrate with my teammate. “Ok guys, we have 24 hours until tip off. Get some rest because this is going to be the biggest game of your life. Let’s bring this championship back to Barton College. Go Bulldogs and Goodnight!” Why few players stay in the lobby to hang out I took it talk upon to work on my game and reflect on the semifinal game that just took place. At basketball games you will notice how there are all sorts of fans attending the game.
The rules are made to keep players safe and to make the game fair. A team plays with 6 players on the court with a minimum of 3 players (Recreational).
