Linux Against Microsoft Windows
Linux is a free operating system that was developed on the internet. It was formed by Linus Torvalds first, then he put its source code to his web page. After that, the internet hackers and the programmers developed it.It is a Unix-like operating system because it is the main reason to develop the Linux.By the time,it becomes a big organization and now it is a powerful, advanced operating system. It has an important feature that is not available for other operating systems. You can run Linux with other operating systems like MacOS, DOS,Windows 95, Windows NT, Novell, OS/2 on the same machine. It is an advantage of linux that a user can easily compare Linux with other operating systems.
Unlike Windows, Linux is a capable of runnig on large variety of computer systems. One of them is Intel Based PCs.Most of the home users prefer Intel Based PCs.So they can run Linux on their computers(Windows can only run on Intel Based PCs).Digital Alpha systems are used by the huge companies.Linux has the capability of running on the Digital Alpha systems so it can reach the advanced users.Other computer system is Macintosh Power PC that is used by graphical designers, press companies and advertising companies, can be run with Linux. The others are Sun Sparc&Sun Ultra, Amiga, 3Com Palm Pilot which are rarely used. This capability of Linux provides a large user number and user kind that makes Linux more popular.(www.linux.org)
Linux has a powerful security system. It is almost impossible to write a virus for Linux because it must be 30-40 Mbytes. Also it has firewall system to protect the network from the hackers. If we think that there are a lot viruses for windows that can harm all of your system, we can understand how Linux is secure.Linux is a stable operating system that never fails like Windows. When Bill Gates presented the Windows 98, an error message appeared on the screen that says you must shutdown your computer. In Linux, there are not error messages like that. You can kill a process that is not replying with kill command.Linux has true multitasking property. It is true because it is not like Windows. You can run up to twelve process in the same time with no performance loss.Miicrosoft claims that Windows has the capability of multitasking but you can not run two process on the same time. Linux has virtual memory. It means that you can use ...

Linux have a lot of features and by the time its features are getting more. By the spreading of internet, Linux become more popular and more people learn that there is an operating system called Linux which is better than Windows.Linus Torvalds answers the question ‘What makes Linux so successful?’. He says “It is very simple.Because the software is free, there is no pressure to release it before its really ready just to achieve some sales targets. Every version of Linux is declared to be finished only when it is actually finished, which explains why it is so solid. The other reason why free software is better is because the personal reputation of the developer is attached to every release. If you are making something to give away to the world, something that represents to millions of users your philosophy of computing, you will always make it the very best product you can make. That’s the reason why Linux is a success .“(www.linux.org). We can understand that Linux(It is a free software) is not worried about sales, and it wants to give the best to the user.
I was very interested in computers and technology as a child, both playing games and building fake parts for them. Still in elementary school, I was fascinated by these computing machines, spending hours on end working with DOS to satisfy my curiosity. Around my middle school years, Windows became graphical, and I found interest in even more computer games with even greater experiences and capabilities. Windows was the dominant operating system at the time, but I was soon to find there was a whole different world out there of operating systems. While out on vacation in Washington, DC, my Dad and I were able to meet with the local Tech Fanatics group, HackDC. It was here where I discovered Linux. Linux, an alternative to Windows, immediately grabbed my attention when I saw it in use. It appeared to me as something that only the extreme computer users even heard of. Upon my return home,
American football can be joyful and entertaining to watch but what people do not know is that players are suffering a disease that has never been discovering before. In 2009, Jeanne Marie Laskas novel “Concussion,” brought one question to American. Can football kill people? She concludes that playing football can cause permanent brain damage, cause a person to go crazy, and to the point of death. She uses diction and anecdotes to bring a threat to football players in America to light.
The Linux operating system is the catchall term for the dozens of software stacks built around the free and open source Linux kernel. Clumped into distribution...
Professor Schechner's enjoyable production increased my appreciation of the value of wardrobe and inflection of voice. Prior to this performance I did not see Polonius as a buffoon (as portrayed by Mr. Shapli), nor the incestuous nature of Ophelia's familial relationships (Ms. Cole's ability to transform from coquette to lunatic was shocking). Doubtless there are near as many interpretations of Hamlet as there are Shakespearean aficionados.
Physical and emotional abuse can originate from any source but the majority of the abuse generates from parental or adult figures and is direct toward a timid figure, typically a child. The abuser commonly chooses a more timid recipient because they will be less likely to stand up against the abuser. Physical abuse is maltreatment that involves actual contact between one body part of a person and an other body part of an other person, such as hitting or slapping. Emotional abuse consists of just the opposite: maltreatment that is directed to harming the individual psychologically, such as negative comments or put downs (National Exchange Club Foundation, 2000).
Physical abuse can have a number of long term effects. It can cause physical injury, brain damage, and may lead to emotional dev...
The National Football League, since establishing it’s name in 1920, has become known for much more than just the sport. In more recent years, the news has reported on scandals involving the NFL and it’s players concerning domestic abuse, cheating scandals and most vividly the issue of concussion related deaths. From the beginning of its time, it has been no secret that football is considered a high-impact sport that comes with cause for injury, such as concussions. What was a secret was the link between concussions and brain disease. Drysdale (2013) noted a concussion occurs when “When the head is in motion and is stopped suddenly, “the skull stops, but the brain, swimming in spinal fluid, continues forward, sometimes striking the rough inner
Windows based computers are more practical, easier to use, and more versatile than Macintosh computers. There has always been much debate over which is the better system. There are people who are die-hard Macintosh users, and there are people who are the complete opposite, and naturally people sitting somewhere in between. The fact remains that the majority of home and business users own Windows based systems because of their versatility in all areas.
A single incident of physical abuse can result in severe trauma. If the child were physically abused more often, this would result in a greater impact on the child. The age of the child when the physical abuse begins has a greater impact on the child. When the child has a very close relationship with their abuser, the feelings of betrayal are that much greater. The person that they trust and look to for protection is the person who is instead hurting them. When a child has no one to turn to, his or her feelings of abandonment increase. A child will find a way to cope with the abuse, different methods of coping include physical, such as becoming the “comedian”, some children use humor to cover up the fact that they are suffering. Another way of coping would be emotional, such as the child refusing to try anything new for fear of failure, avoiding any more negative messages about themselves. The children of physical child abuse suffer physically and emotionally. The physical child abuse effects also vary depending on the age of the
limits the network access, in other words, it recognizes the internet accessibility level of the user. In addition, when a virus attacks the computer it directly downloads or deletes the appropriate information. On the other hand, Windows 10 has a different strategy to secure its system by isolating the applications that run on devices in a hardware-based virtual environment. Although, Windows security system has developed dramatically over time, Mac OS X is still less vulnerable to viruses and other malware.
Firstly, with the operating system market there are no actual barriers to entry. Any one firm can enter into the market and introduce their operating system. A number of powerful firms have indeed done so.
It all began in 1991, during the time of monumental computing development. DOS had been bought from a Seattle hacker by Bill Gates, for a sum of $50,000 – a small price for an operating system that had managed sneak its way across the globe due to a clever marketing strategy. Apple’s OS and UNIX were both available, though the cost of running either was far greater than that of running DOS. Enter MINIX, an operating system developed from the ground up by Andrew S. Tanenbaum, a college professor. MINIX was part of a lesson plan used to teach students the inner-workings of an operating system. Tanenbaum had written a book on MINIX called “Operating System” and anyone who had picked up a copy would find the 12,000 lines of code that comprised MINIX itself. This was a big issue; due to the fact that all know (well published) operating systems to that point had been well guarded by software developers, thus making it difficult for people to truly expand on operating system mechanics.
The bruises of the heart linger forever; these bruises cannot heal as the bruise on the skin does. Emotional abuse does more harm to the heart that physical abuse does (Stosny, 2008). Mentally it will kill one inside, with fear from the heart all the way to the brain, you are affected in so many ways.Yes, physical abuse leaves bruises on the surface and scars in the heart, yet once they heal it seems to get easier to handle and deal with. Once words are spoken, they cannot be taken back, they will cut the heart like a knife with a wound that can never heal; therefore, think before you speak.
A persons emotions influence every aspect of ones lives. Especially when you’re a child, your emotions are vulnerable to every interaction they receive. When these emotions are beaten down and destroyed continuously, a common name for this is abuse. For example, Dee, a young married women, was emotionally abused everyday by her husband. He treated her as more of a servant than a wife and she eventually hated her life. She became depressed and eventually contemplated suicide. It wasn’t until then that she considered getting help (YWCA Mohawk Valley, 2014). Approximately one third of Canadians have experienced child abuse (CBC Radio, 2014) and approximately 8% of Canadians experience depression (Mood Disorders Society of Canada, 2009)? This is normally an uncommon conversation topic in today’s society because most people do not like to talk about it. The statistics above are connected; many people who experience abuse are prone to mental illness. When a child has been physically abused, there are noticeable bruises, or other effects on the person. On the other hand, most people do not recognize or even know the effects of emotional abuse. Emotional abuse can deeply wound a child, and as the child grows, the scars will remain; the scars that people do not see that can cause a lifetime of suffering. These invisible scars can affect a person’s development as they struggle to accept themselves from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. Emotional abuse negatively impacts an individual’s self-esteem, which can in turn, cause depression and substance abuse later in adulthood.
In our educational system we have students that come from all around the world, but according to figure 3.1 on page 89 throughout years the Hispanic population has increased. Because of the increase of non-english speakers in our educational system, I believe that future teachers must prepare with ideas and ways to teach these students English and make them feel welcomed. I, being bilingual could not personally explain how it was like to be ignorant of the English language because i started school at the age of four and my parents said i learned the language in three months. I believe that being bilingual is very prestigious because it is an opportunity for better understanding of the non-English speaking community and better pay. Throughout the years i have heard that knowing a second language and speaking it is considered unpatriotic. I completely disagree with this assumption because students who come from other countries will grow up like i did loving this country more than their native country because that is what the educational system teaches you. In Addition, the philosophies mentioned in the book really impacted me. I was amazed on the variety of philosophies a teacher has the ability to choose from to instruct their course. Using a variety of philosophies in a class is a great way to teach every student because it is evident that each person learns in different
