When I started High School, My only goal was to be a wife and a mother because that is all I thought could do. Wives and mothers are some of the best jobs in the world, but I learned that I could do more. My current goal is to graduate from Johnson County Community College with my Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I’d work a for while then I would really like to go back to get qualified as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant to work with elderly people.
It has been really difficult for me because I have a learning disability. I struggle a lot in Math and English as well. Having this disability is horrible because i can’t learn as fast as the other students in my class and i’d get embarrassed to be asking the teacher for help over and over again. To overcome this I started advocating for myself which i couldn’t at first but one of my teachers, Ms.Lowe was the one who taught me how to advocate for myself. She is the one who influenced me throughout High School.
A way to overcome my disability, I tried by joining clubs, helping others, working and focusing on my grades. One of the things that has helped me has been in Link Crew. Link Crew is fun way to help the incoming freshmen so their experience won’t be as bad as mine. I enjoy trying to help anyone as much as I can. Work is nothing easy but I still do it to help my mom

So i want to be there to work with kids and just really enjoy being around them. I’d also did community service at crosslines to work with kids and I really enjoyed that. Some of my personal accomplishments are that i was nominated for student of the month but sadly wasn’t picked. I am a really responsible person as well. I tend to always have good grades, they might not be all A’s but they’re good for me. My attendance is usually great as well, and I respect others the same way they respect
My experiences with tutoring others has taught me that it satisfies me to help others understand and learn. As you teach others you learn about the different ways you handle situations and solve issues as well. I’ve always been the person that my classmates come up to for help, but it wasn’t till grade 10 until I officially started tutoring math, mainly Pre-Calculus 12. In grade 11, I continued tutoring, but this time I focused on a single individual, and that brought up challenges of creating a suitable relationship, that becomes the foundation for effective learning. This year, I took on a challenge, my teacher asked me to be a mentor towards a student with learning disabilities who was struggling with school. I
I've cared for people and am a good observer when it comes to looking out for problems and conflicts. That's why I feel as though I'd be good in this field to help out children who need it the most, because I'm the type of person who can detect when something's wrong and I put my whole heart into something that is important to myself and the child in need. I've weighed the pro’s (helping out children, getting them in a safer environment, and doing what's best for the parent) and the cons (not being able to help everyone, and being put in dangerous situations) of this field and determined that the pros outweigh the cons that kids in need are so important I'm willing to put whatever on the line to help out whenever and wherever. This job takes a lot. You have to put all into it, and that's the type of person I am. I put my all into the things I do and am willing to sit down all night if need be to come up with a situation to help those who need
There are so many things I want to do differently. I want to work again and contribute. I want to show my children how to contribute to the growth of our Faith, our family and our community. I want to help others to come to a realization there is more to this world; that Jesus loves them. Then, there’s the need to prove my ability to finish a degree and get an education that will lead me back the work force.
I attended the BOCES Program for the Hearing Impaired for eleven years. I initially liked BOCES but later grew to dislike this program. The teachers often made me feel incapable of doing what the "normal kids" were doing. I wanted to do more challenging things! I remember that one time I asked one of my teachers if I could take a Spanish class. Her reply was "NO!". She didn't think I could handle it because I had a hearing loss. I was persistent and took the class anyway. I did very well. I proved her wrong. But above all, I proved to myself that if I wanted something enough, I could do it. It was a great feeling!
I had a difficult time learning in school. I became a few years behind my grade level and my parents considered having me repeat a grade. My learning support teacher worked with me one on one for months and taught me how to study and work hard. I continued working hard and started getting better grades, and soon I became top of my class. I kept studying and strived to get the best possible grades throughout middle school and high school. I looked to challenge myself and took advanced placement classes. I don’t think I would have worked hard in high school, if I had not struggled earlier on, I would most likely be on a completely different life
My academic performance excels my grade level. I enjoyed past experiences with speaking in front of others by participating in student council at Brookside Elementary in the 4th and 5th grades. I have had experience updating other students about things that are happening around campus. I will always be on time for our meetings and go to every one. I will always remember to bring my best ideas so that ASB can be a thing others will enjoy. I am a responsible, organized person that likes to contribute my ideas. Some things that I can bring to ASB are a positive outlook on ideas, creative and fun ideas, motivation, quality, leadership and hard work. To be in ASB, I know that you need to respect others and have good communication with my peers. I believe I excel in these two categories, and I will put forth my best effort to make MCMS a better school. I can contribute positive character traits as well as being an example to others. I would be very excited if I could be part of ASB next
As a young child in elementary school, I struggled in the regular classes of language arts and math, and this caused my teachers to put me into Special Education. I recall hearing the regular students call me “stupid” all the time behind my back. When I had my regular classes in Social Studies or Science none of the other students wanted to be my partner in the group projects. I felt like an outcast, and my self-confidence was exceedingly low. However, I knew that I was not the smartest kid, but I was a hard worker. I begged my mom to help me convince the teachers to allow me to to join the regular classes in the 5th grade. Fortunately, my teachers agreed, and in my regular language arts class I was motivated to prove to my teachers, my classmates,
I am engaged in professional development activities, I am committed to becoming a teacher, I promote life-long learning, I am excited to become a teaching and to learn more about teaching, I believe that all students can learn, and I believe that I play a large role in influencing student learning. On campus, I am working towards becoming a member of the organization SNEA. I want to become a member because I already go to the meetings on campus and I want to continue to be a part of it when I am teaching. Outside of school, I work at the Boys and Girls Club. Working at the Boys and Girls Club gives me vast amounts of experience working with children from ages birth to fifth grade. With working at the Boys and Girls Club, I am required to continue my professional development as well. I have attended seminars about incorporating play into course work, how to develop as a professional if I were to want my own education center, and obtaining certificates for CPR, First Aid, and
A goal I achieved was when I graduated from high school many years ago. I was the first one in my family to graduate from high school. It was a big accomplishment for me and my mom. Graduating was my goal. I wanted to make my mom proud, life happens I couldn't go to college then but I told myself one day I will full field my dream to have a career. I meet my career advisor at a job fair and am here enrolled to be a medical assistant. My new goal is to work real hard to get the best grades I can possibly get and to have perfect attendance at the end off the medical assistant program. Am going use my time wisely, get all my work done in time and ask for help if I don't understand something.
To be honest, before writing this essay I was very unaware of what ableism was. So when reading about ableism was interesting to me. I personally do not have a disability, but I do know people that I am close with that do have disabilities. My grandmother and grandfather have physical disabilities. My grandmother physical disability is that she cannot walk she lays in a bed at her home all day. She has a problem with her ankles that when she tries to walk they give out and she falls. My grandfather also has a physical disability; he cannot walk as well. This past year, my uncle was diagnosis with cancer and he was struggling with many challenging that came with his cancer. He had trouble breathing, heart problems, and chemotherapy. It was
I’ve always wanted to become a lawyer. I disappointed my mother when I became pregnant and she knew how hard my life would be without an education. Her first job began at 3am, six days a week making tortillas at a restaurant, she was home by 7am to get ready for her full time job. She cleaned houses and offices seven days a week into the late hours every night. She wanted better for me and I failed
In middle school I was diagnosed with a disability with the way I expressed myself through writing. Ever since, I have gained multiple values and learned several lessons about self confidence. I was taught to push past my limits, in order to be successful in reaching my goals along with my dreams. Today I am a senior in high school who was once thought to struggle, but was able to succeed beyond expectations. To some, a disability may seem like a setback from achieving goals, but to me I used it as a challenge for myself. I accepted myself for who I was and looked at my disability as a unique trait of mine. I was able to provide a message to others that anything you set your mind to is possible with dedication and hard work. It might take
After graduation, I planned to relocate back to St. Louis, MO. Also, I planned to further my education, by getting my Master’s Degree at the University of Missouri St. Louis. After receiving my degree, I want to find a career in Child Welfare. In conclusion, I want to live happily ever after with a husband, a few kids, and an amazing career.
In high school my ideal career seemed to change from day-to-day. I tried working at a fast food restaurant, and ice cream parlor, a day care, but none of these led to any career decisions. I wanted to join the military so I took the ASVAB but I was not confident enough in my ability to make it through basic training so I gave up the idea. I wanted to be an architect so I applied for admission to the CAD program at ITT Technical Institute and was accepted. I was scheduled to start classes on June 12, 1989, but deep down what I truly wanted was to a wife and mother and the idea of getting out of Rantoul, Illinois did not hurt either. My unspoken desire came to the fore when I met my future husband in January of 1989. We were married on June 10, 1989, four days after my high school graduation and two days before I w...
My goal is to go to college and then have a career. It 's a goal that probably a lot of people have,
