How did Abraham Lincoln’s assassination effect the U.S.? Was his death a good thing or a bad thing? Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford’s Theater on April 14, 1865 by a famous actor named John Wilkes Booth. This event made the country go into grief but made it stronger. Most people say this was a bad thing because it affected the country very negatively. Others say it helped the country out. Abraham Lincoln’s death was a very bad thing because it put the country into grief, it caused Lincoln’s ideas to not be used, but some might say it was good because it put many criminals to justice.

For example, “Lincoln vetoed the bill but the debate raged.” (source 8). This is important because it proves that Lincoln’s ideas would make the debate angry which is why they did not happen. For example, “...to leave Lincoln’s ideas or use them; he did not.” (Source 8). This is important because it proves Lincoln’s ideas were not used after he died. In conclusion, Lincoln’s death negatively affected the country because his ideas were not used.
Finally, some might say that Lincoln’s death was a good thing because it put many criminals to justice. For example, “It captured many criminals of the confederate army.” (Source 4). For example, “JWB was captured after the assassination.” (Source 3). This does prove that criminals were brought to justice because of their actions. However, there are many criminals across the country and just because we caught some of them it doesn’t mean that it is more important than how Lincoln’s death affected the country.
Abe’s death was not a good thing because it put the country into grief, it caused Lincoln’s ideas to not be used, but some might say it was good because it put many criminals to justice. When the country went into grief nothing was getting done and everyone was sad. Lincoln’s ideas were not used which made the country not be able to change for a while.
