Now during Miranda's childhood, and teens : he spent at least one month every year at his grandparents home in Puerto Rico.
Now sadly, his grandmother : Abuela Mundi, died on Christmas Day of 2017. Lin Manuel was truly devastated when this happened. Lin Manuel Miranda is mostly of Puerto Rican descent. An interesting fact about Miranda’s mother's ancestors is that her ancestors include of an interracial couple in the 1800’s. The woman, Sophie whom was black, and the man David Town whom was white. The married couple of Luz’s ancestry lived happily with each other, although the couple tried to outrun slavery as laws and government changed around them. Now his name “ Lin Manuel” actually came from a poem that was inspired by the Vietnam War. The poem was called , “Nana Roja para mi hijo Lin Manuel” which was written by an Puerto Rican writer named Jose Manuel Torres Santiago. Lin studied in Hunter College High School , and Wesleyan University. During his sophomore year in Wesleyan …show more content…
University in 1999, he started the earliest drafts of his first musical “In The Heights”. Lin-Manuel Miranda married Vanessa Adriana Nadal, one of his highschool friends in 2010. His wife Vanessa is a lawyer at Jones Day. Their first son, Sebastian De Miranda, was born in 2014, and on February 2 , 2017 their second son Francisco De Miranda was born. Lin is well known for creating the famous American Musical “Hamilton”.
This has earned him a lot of recognition around the world. Hamilton has earned Miranda a lot of awards, some just including : Tony award for best original score, and much more. He also made his first appearance in theatre during his first musical “In The Heights”. Although Lins main source of popularity is Hamilton, more people knew his name from ‘In The Heights’. Even though Lin Manuel Miranda made the lyrics for the songs in Hamilton,In The Heights,21 Chump Street,as well as the lyrics of a couple of songs in Moana; Miranda also appeared in different movies. A few examples of these movies being : Speech and Debate, Star Wars The force Awakens ,and the new Mary Poppins movie. Even with him doing mostly musicals, and writing lyrics this has actually won him 28 awards. And there is much more to come for this man, considering he isn't done doing shows, writing lyrics, and making
musicals. His relationship with Puerto Rico actually brought more attention to the U.S territory. Puerto Rico was destroyed during Hurricane Maria. This costed a lot of families to be without a home, safe drinkable water, and electricity. And as a man with most of his descents being from Puerto Rico,Lin Manuel Miranda wasted no time in helping with as much as he can. A song that Miranda and other Puerto Rican artists composed called “ Almost Like Praying”. He composed this song to see how much money this created him. This song has raised about 20 million dollars, all donated to Puerto Rico. In a relief kitchen in Isla Verde in Puerto Rico, he and his parents along with other helpers ,made sandwiches for the ones who needed it. This moved Lin to tears as he was welcomed along with his parents. Not only this, but he will return to Puerto Rico as he is playing in Hamilton as Alexander Hamilton in Puerto Rico of 2019. The tickets being only 10 dollars so the people can watch him. With the money he earns,he will donate it to Puerto Rico, and keep helping with as much as he can. Just apart these good deeds Miranda has already done,he also donated more than 10 thousand gifts with the help of Toys R Us to thousands of kids in Puerto Rico. Lin Manuel Miranda has helped Puerto Rico out so much, probably a lot more than any other country. Puerto Rico is truly happy and honored for this man's family to be born there and being able to help out. But even apart from this Lin Manuel Miranda was also at the March For Our Lives on March 24 of 2018 . He performed a mashup song with Ben Platt, famous actor for playing Evan in the musical Dear Evan Hansen. These two performed the mashup song “Found Tonight” which includes the songs ‘You Will Be Found’, and ‘The Story of Tonight’. Lin Manuel Miranda and his wife have been married for 8 years. Lin loves his wife so much, that he thanks her a lot whenever he wins an award. During the 2016 Tony awards, he said “ My wife’s the reason anything gets done, She nudges me towards promise by degrees. She is a perfect symphony of one. Our son is her most beautiful reprise.” Lin Manuel also showed off the tattoo he got of his wife's initial, the letter V, stating that “ In other news, I got a permanent parking spot for V over the weekend”. But apart from Lin being a loving husband,he keeps his children away from the public. If he decides to put a picture on his Twitter, his kid is either facing away from the camera or has his kids face hidden with a sticker. His reasoning why is unknown, but it's understandable if he wants privacy for his kids. He went as far as saying “if you take a picture of me with my son, please hide my sons face”. Sadly apart from all the amazing things the thirty eight year old man has done, the great wife and two kids he has, he was just recently diagnosed with shingles. This is keeping him quarantined from his youngest son. Which at first it started with a big migraine, which Lin posted on his twitter as his worst migraine, and blurry vision,he actually caught shingles. So now,Lin Manuel Miranda stays near his parents resting and getting better. Hopefully after he gets better, gets to see his eight-week old son Francisco. Now Miranda has done a lot of spectacular things, but since the thirty eight year old has so much to do yet in the future. But with the current things he's done such as donating money to Puerto Rico, making an appearance with Ben Platt singing “Found Tonight” during the March For Our Lives ,to him currently fighting off shingles. This man has accomplished a lot during the years he has been active. This man has many things upcoming, and isn't done doing things yet either.
When asked to write about an important activist who has demonstrated protest, I immediately drifted towards a Hispanic and/or feminist activist. Various names came across my mind initially such as Cesar Chavez and Joan Baez but as a later discussion in class concluded, there are numerous others who are rarely highlighted for their activism and struggles, which lead to me researching more. In my research I came across Dolores Huerta, an American labor leader and civil rights activist, who I felt was an underdog and brushed over activist in the Hispanic community.
As the Great Depression and the World War came to a dramatic close during the mid 1940s, the American society prepared for a redefinition of its core ideologies and values. During this time, the idea of a quintessential “American family” was once again reinforced after two decades of social strife. Under such historical context, the 1941 novel Mildred Pierce by James M. Cain and its 1945 film adaptation by Michael Curtiz both carries a strong idea that when one, especially a female, tries to disobey their traditional family roles and social etiquettes, undesirable consequences would inevitably follow. However, the film adaptation, utilizing a slightly different narrative configuration and plot organization, further intensifies and emphasizes

Miranda interest was captured by the unimaginable changes in Hamilton life after finishing the first few chapters of Ron Chernow biography of Hamilton. Miranda began to envision the life of Hamilton as a musical, and researched whether a stage musical of Hamilton's life had been created. Miranda therefore began a project entitled The Hamilton Mixtape. In 2009, Miranda received White House performance invitation to perform music from his musical In the Heights. Instead he considered trying something new that featured American politics. He performed the first song from The Hamilton Mixtape, and from here on the idea of using self-destructive stubbornness, linguistic dexterity, brilliance, and relentlessness of Hamilton in his unique, idiosyncratic lens composes a series of music entitled Hamilton (Mead,

Adventure, mystery, and magic all go hand-in-hand when it comes to the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling. The books were adapted into films starting in 2001. The first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was directed by Chris Columbus. The story of Harry Potter is magical as is however; the movie needed a little extra magic. This extra magic needed to be added through music. Director Chris Columbus chose John Williams to compose the music for a promotional reel (John Williams). After Columbus heard the song for the promotional reel he knew they had to have Williams compose the entire movie (John Williams). Williams created an entire score for the movie and called it “The Harry Potter Suite.” “The Harry Potter Suite” has a song for each important event that happened throughout the film. John Williams adds magic and tells the story of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone through his composed music.

The Voice, 'Ol' Blue Eyes', Swoonatra, La Voz, and Chairman of the Board. These were all sobriquets of the infamous Frank Sinatra. However, one of Sinatra's earliest and possibly most well-known nicknames was The Voice. A title such as The Voice is more than just a name that sounds cool and sensual. It promises something flawless about his singing style, signifying you could select one song, or perhaps even an album, as representative of Frank Sinatra. However, Sinatra had a multitude of styles over his five decade career, so to call him the voice could potentially be doing an injustice, perhaps a more accurate description would be The Voices.
