Light must take several precautions in order to hide the fact that he is Kira. After Light finishes high school and goes off to college, he joins the anti-Kira team to learn L’s real name and thus kill him. Lights plans were hindered by the appearance of a “second Kira” who is a popular model named Misa Amane. She has a Shinigami named Rem. L finds sufficient evidence to convict Light as the first Kira and Misa as the “second Kira.” This is due to Misa’s carelessness. They are both detained in jail, but Light foresaw this and already conjugated a plan to prove his “innocence.” Light and Misa forfeit their notebooks, thus losing all of their memories of it in the process. Their notebooks are then passed onto a “third Kira.” Since they are in jail and the killings continue this concludes that Light and Misa were “innocent.” They are then released, but under house arrest at the police headquarters. The third Kira is arrested, and Light manages to touch the Death Note, hence regaining all his memories. He kills the third Kira, thus regaining the possession of the notebook. He manipulates Rem’s love for Misa into killing L by putting Misa’s life in
This reason makes sense because Asia and even a friend of hers claim that they saw and even spoke to Adnan that day and at that time Hae was murdered. This part of the story is when Asia found out Adna was arrested so she wrote him a letter explaining what she remembered about seeing him that day and time. This is from the letter “Im not sure if you remember talking to me in the library january 13’th,but I remember”. This means Adnan is innocent because he was not murdering Hae at the time he was at the library. Therefore Adnan is innocent because Asia’s letters prove that he was at the library at the time Hae was
Light and dark is an everyday aspect of life, The Scarlet Letter really reveals how light and dark everyone can be. Though it was sometimes hard to read, the book made me think more about the good and evil in everyone. Throughout the novel, Hawthorne uses the symbols of light and dark to depict good and evil among the characters Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth.
Suspense, used to change the story drastically, prevents “The Most Dangerous Game,” from seeming too predictable and boring. Author, Richard Connoll, creates suspense by conveying unsettling emotions that the audience can relate to and that give a false sense of predictability. The title of this story, a major factor of suspense, tells the audience exactly what will happen. The interior suspense gives hidden meaning to the title and adds many twists to its foreboding plot. The element of suspense, leaving audiences guessing about future events, allows the audience to get emotionally involved in the story line.

Each of these three people had an equal opportunity to stop the murder; however each person’s ignorance caused them to fail in their duty as a fellow citizen. It was their duty after they heard of the Vicario brothers’ plot to kill Santiago
Zusak’s use of personification to bring everything from the clouds and curtains to life is certainly extraordinary, but the most obvious oddity has to be Zusak’s interesting choice of narrator. To most, Death is a terrifying, ominous thing, without shape or form or voice, but to readers of The Book Thief Death is an interesting, and almost friendly companion. Due to this unconventional narrator, the book occasionally is interrupted by striking interjections from Death. To some, this is an annoying inconvenience, but to others, it keeps them hooked.

What if we lived in a world where a small piece of paper was considered the Angel of Death? Where your neighbors would turn on you in an instance because a small black box “prophesized” them to? When true human nature is shown before you are cast into the blackness of death? Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” is a short story in which villagers gather once a year with a black box to perform a lottery that decides just that. The head male of each family must draw till someone has the black dot that decides which family will draw next. The “winner” in that family is then stoned to death by everyone in the village, including their own family. The story has multiple hidden messages that are hard to distinguish from the text. Each message shows a side of human nature that most people believe they do not have. By using literary analysis, Shirley Jackson’s messages become
The momentum that came from the villagers’ extreme degree of self-interest further propels the storm of immoral and unethical actions. The terrible tradition was carried out once again. Instead of considering the effect that the tradition had on their fellow villagers, they were grateful that the little black box had spared them their own lives. As far as they were concerned, the sky was blue and the sun was still shining.
We wonder what this great evil could be that makes evil itself tremble. Another personification used is ‘candle writing’. Candles are usually associated with gothic stories, as it is only a small source of light. within the vast darkness of the room.
Marquez’s criticizes the Catholic religion in A Chronicle of a Death Foretold through the town’s hypocrisies. The story takes place in a town that has a strong emphasis on religion, yet society refers back to archaic rituals of honor. Society and its religious leaders persistently defy the Catholic faith, which allows for the brutal murder of Santiago Nasar. Through the hypocrisies shown in the chronicle of Santiago Nasar’s death, Marquez shows the failures of the Columbian culture’s Catholic faith as it has a negative impact of the community.

Fukuyama's article states that the world is nearing the "end of history". While the phrase "end of history" seems to suggest imminent doom and the end of the world. That is, however, not what he is suggesting. Fukuyama argues that history, or in other words the growth and development of human ideals and philosophies, is reaching its peak. The article delves into the various eras of the past such as the renaissance and explains the strengths and weaknesses of the main ideologies during those eras. He then further explains the growth pattern between those eras which has lead to the current ideology of liberal democracy. He believes that liberal democracy is the best ideology and that it is the final stage in human ideological development. He further suggest that human history should be viewed as a progression or battle of ideologies. With the current trend of universalization of liberal democracy and individualism, both characteristics of Western culture, he argues that Western liberal democracy has become the grand victor. He also asserts that despite the liberal democratic ideology has not completely been realized in the material world, the idea has been accepted and has triumphed over all alternate ideologies.

The Tale of Genji is seen as many things, whether it is the first novel written or the world’s first psychological novel. In this book, Murasaki Shikibu tells the story of Hikaru Genji and his experiences. The Tale of Genji is considered the world’s first novel; the story takes us through the birth and death of Genji, a smart, attractive, and talented boy. Genji, is the second son of Emperor Kiritsubo and as the son of an emperor Genji’s life is extremely controlled, whether it be arranged marriages or having little to no secrecy. Through his extra-ordinary life, Genji deals with very ordinary circumstances; various love affairs, some of which bearing children, and the death of loved ones. Shikibu is able to capture her readers in this book by writing with enough emotion and detail that the story is given validity through the chapters. The validity is captured in the many of the stories conflicts whether it be; a father making the right decision, feeling close to someone who resembles one’s mother, reliving lost loves, losing a loved one, or having a son then losing your wife. Shikibu brings these stories to life in The Tale of Genji in a way that brings truth to the very story she is telling.
