Life of a Salesman
People tend to shy away from a sales career due to the fact they lack self-confidence or they don’t want to be the stereotype of being pushy or dishonest. A career as a successful sales representative requires a positive attitude and the ability to be creatively persistent to sell a product without forcing it on the customer. According to Alliance (2013), “sales representative jobs have the potential to be dynamic, exciting and very lucrative” considering you meeting new people every day but at times very stressful. The reason it is so stressful is due to the fact that it requires you to work long hours without the potential of receiving commission and that you deal with rude and unsatisfied customers routinely. Every salesperson has their own way of pitching their products to you with some being pleasant while others very unpleasant and awkward.
Discussion
Each salesperson approaches selling products their own way from prior experiences. But some salespeople are more respectable and friendly than others. According to Online Business Advisor (2014), “poor salespeople have a short-term mentality looking for quick cash, lack organization or have poor management skills.” The poor salespeople also tend to let stress build and take the best of them resulting in poor customer experience. This poor customer experience is what created the stigma of salespeople being dishonest or pushy. While a good salesperson will always have a positive attitude and handle stress to provide a pleasant experience for the customer.

This case arose when I went out of town on my first business trip. I have been a sales trainee for the last six weeks, and my supervisor felt it was time to send me out. I was lucky enough to get sent with the number one sales rep for the company, Vince Collier. I was excited because I knew that if I was going to learn the best ways to make a sale, it would be with Vince.
I felt that this response was the least ethical. Firstly, the salesperson would have taken advantage of the customer for personal gain. Secondly, a salesperson should not assume anything about the customer. If a salesperson were to assume anything, it should be through analysis of the customer’s needs. Even then it shouldn’t be an assumption, but an educated decision.
...es not take place. Sales supervisor positions must hold good managerial traits. Since these positions will not maintain accounts, the movements of an account executive to this position will disrupt a team and may result in lost revenues.
As the salespeople’s immediate supervisor, it is the primary responsibility of the manager to provide proper training to enhance the salespersons’ effectiveness and improve their skills. Given the importance of having a productive and enthusiastic sales team, the manager needs to develop and manage effective reward and compensation packages to ensure a highly motivated and satisfied sales force. Sales managers also ensure that the company 's standards of professionalism, image, and branding are consistent with the sales team’s interaction with company customers. The manager 's presence also makes customers feel valued as well as provide credibility on behalf of the company (Pilling, Donthu, & Henson,
Personal selling will be measured in both qualitative and quantitative terms. Salespersons will have to fill reports regarding the interlocutors behaviour and product knowledge.
Given that the number one objective that corporations are after is profit above all else, and the main expectation of a salesman is to bring in sales for the corporation, this makes the objective of actually helping people find an automobile that will improve their quality of life come in at least in second place by default. Many times, car salesman are tempted to make a sale to person, even though they know the person cannot actually afford the vehicle, to achieve both their quota of sales for the company and also to make their commission. While some may have no problem at all doing this, the person we are imagining may be left feeling that his job requirements go against his moral and ethical standards; as well as a feeling that he could be doing something else that benefits people in a greater

What is the "American Dream?" How does one define success? Many people hold different views on how to obtain true happiness. One common view is the accomplishment of something yearned. A majority of individuals desire love, compassion, and a family. On the other hand, there are those concerned with self-image, material items, and the fact that money can indeed buy true happiness. In Arthur Miller's play DEATH OF A SALESMAN [published by Ted Buchholz (1993)]--the story of a sixty-three year old man named Willy Loman striving to achieve the "American Dream" and his family who suffer as a cause--contains many examples of trying to achieve material success. Willy's ultimate dream concerns following in his brother Ben's footsteps and rising to be a successful salesman. Willy Loman wanted success so badly that he lost a realistic sense of himself. He wished the same for his sons, Happy and Biff. Yet his struggle for popularity, authority, and money for success caused his downfall. Unfortunately for Willy, most of his dreams were illusions. He was unable to come face to face with this fact. Willy Loman's definition of success warped his view of himself and that of his sons.
Company sales are important even if you are not interviewing for a sales job. If you have reviewed several years of annual reports, you can easily see if the company's sales have gone up or down. Asking questions about the company's sales during an interview scores lots of points because it shows you have done your homework.
Willy Loman is one of the most tragic heroes in American drama today. He has a problem differentiating reality from fantasy. No one has a perfect life. Everyone has conflicts that they must face sooner or later. The ways in which people deal with these personal conflicts can differ as much as the people themselves. Some insist on ignoring the problem as long as possible, while some attack the problem to get it out of the way. In the case of Willy in Arthur Miller’s, Death of a Salesman, the way he deals with his life as a general failure leads to very severe consequences. Willy never really faced his problems in fact in stead of confronting them he just escapes into the past, whether intentionally or not, to those happier childhood times where problems were scarce. He uses this escape as if it were a narcotic, and as the play progresses, we learns that it can be as dangerous as a drug, because of its ability to addict Willy, and it’s deadliness.
