Revised Thesis Statement:
Attending a liberal arts college is the most opportune way to go. Students will garner an overall better education by receiving a well-rounded education in all subjects, having a smaller student to facility ratio, and lastly having less competition for leadership positions.
Introduction:
Narrowing down where you want to go to college is a tedious task, but knowing and understanding the different types of institutions will make the process easier. There are two institutions: liberal art universities and research universities. Liberal art universities focus on social sciences, humanities, and the different forms of art expression. Misconceptions about liberal arts universities and research universities
• Price comparisons between research universities and liberal art universities.
• Student loan availability between the two institutions.
• Demographics about who attends liberal art colleges. (Are liberal art universities primarily white? What is the social status of students attending the universities?)
III. What are the disadvantages of attending a liberal arts college?
• Liberal arts colleges only focus on undergraduate degrees; therefore they do not offer professional education degrees.
• Liberal arts colleges are viewed as being a bad investment since STEM majors make more money and ultimately are less likely to not be underemployed in the work force.
• Smaller institution size, so schools have less availability for purchasing the newest technology due to insufficient funds.
IV. What are the advantages of attending a liberal arts college?
• Smaller class size, so student can have more one-on-one time with the professor.
• Have increased critical thinking and oral communications skills essential that employers are looking
