Barack Obama once said, "When all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free.” Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are more likely to experience the threat of violence and harassment in their lifetime. They only get treated this way because they don’t have much rights as us. LGBTQ rights is what the people of that community try to fight for on a regular basis. The LGBTQ community goes through bullying, violence, and discrimination in bathrooms. These topics are not all they go through, but here are just some that the are the worst. LGBTQ’s are bullied on a day to day basis. People call them names or physically hurt them. A study shown that students at school hear constantly bigoted verbal abuse more than two dozen a day. That was just about there appearance, but out of 7,000 LGBTQ middle and high school students surveyed and 90% were bullied based on sexual orientation or gender identity (The Welcoming Project.) The most deadliest mass shooting occurred in Orlando at a gay nightclub on a Sunday morning and over 50 people were killed ( The Welcoming Project.) LGBTQ’s have to go through death and hate-motivated crimes every day. Hate-crimes are the most common they physically or verbally abuse the people of the LGBTQ community (Cole.) People of color and part of the LGBTQ commmounity are more likely to get killed. The amount of deaths of Latinos and Native Americans in the LGBTQ commmunity is unreal. The Orlando shooting was not the only bad crime that happened, on New Year’s Eve a man named Musab Masmari was taken to jail for setting fire a gay nightclub in 2014, There was about 750 people inside (LGBTQ Center.)
