The University of Florida Levin College of Law equips its students with the essential and necessitous tools to attain their professional ambitions and aspirations in an environment that fosters a well-rounded and intellectually stimulating law school experience.
On a personal level, as well as an academic level, there are a plethora of reasons as to why I aim and desire to attend the Levin College of Law to enhance and fulfill my law school academic experience. One reason I aspire to attend the Levin College of Law is because of the extensive opportunities for real world experiences that students receive prior to completing law school. From my extensive research of the college, I have discovered that the law school has

Many law schools do not offer students the ability to cater their studies towards their specific interests unless they choose to do so through electives. If I were to be given the opportunity to attend the Levin College of Law, I would be interested in enrolling in either the Criminal Justice program or the Family Law program. My current institution does not offer students such specialty programs which is not beneficial to students who have a sense as to what area of law they desire to practice. In addition, the Levin College of Law offers far more courses than many of the Florida law institutions I have researched such as Death Penalty Law, Domestic Violence, Juvenile Justice, Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Clinic, Family Law, and Federal Criminal Law. Although I plan to primarily focus my last two years of law school towards Bar related courses, I would appreciate having a larger range of courses to choose from for …show more content…
From touring the State Attorney’s office and meeting the Chief Judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit to watching a high profile murder trial, I have solidified the fact that this dynamic professional environment of the legal field is the best way that I can engross myself in providing service to others. The legal field, a vital building block in the successful integration of people, astounds me with its unwavering willingness and readiness to revolve in accordance with society. By gaining a practical insight as a summer intern, I have realized just what I have to offer to my community and those in need, as well as the power that I can have on people’s lives. Being able to attend the Levin College of Law would allow me the opportunity to engage in numerous community service opportunities as a law student. As I student at the Levin College of Law, as well as a Certified Legal Intern, there would be no doubt that I would aim to become a part of one of the institutions clinics in order to serve those in a community in which I am fond of – the Gainesville and the Alachua communities. As a former University of Florida student, I am well aware of the extensive service that students provide to the community. It is my personal belief
...ieve life goals. The community should encourage continued community service from college students that receive scholarships and or some type of financial aid to volunteer, with the existing programs. This could increase the amount of people available to these after school and summer programs, while saving the city some money. This could prove to be a major step in continuing to improve the city and make it a desired place to live and prosper.

Attending the University of Houston Law Center would afford me the opportunity to gain an education I know only they could offer. The University of Houston is a first-tier institution that constantly produces superior talent that continuously excels in all fields of law. Earning my degree of jurisprudence would be the crowning achievement in my life, but knowing that I couldn’t be able to use it effectively would be as equally disappointing. Coming full circle, I’d use my degree to make a difference for those privileged and those who aren’t alike. The realm of law is where I feel I belong and I’m eager to prove myself.
I am applying to further pursue my career in law by obtaining a certificate of entertainment law from the University of Southern California. I am eager to learn from the Gould School of Law program with courses geared and designed to engage me with the
One-L, by Scott Turow, outlines the experience of attending Harvard Law School as a first year law-student. Turow weaves his experiences with those around him, and intertwines the professors of Harvard law, as well as their lectures. Initially, Turow enters Harvard law in a bit of disarray and awe. As a world of hornbooks, treatises, law-reviews, group studies, and legal terminology unfold beyond comprehension; Turow is confronted with the task of maintaining sanity. Time appears to be the most important variable, as Turow begins to study for contracts, torts, property, civil procedure, and criminal law; because time is so precious, one key-highlight for law-students is to balance family. Moreover, Turow is part of section-1, and two of his

During this unusual one month, Stevenson took the opportunity to work with Southern Prisoners Defense
Community service is something that I have always engaged. In college, I worked with chemically dependent children as both a caretaker and a mentor. After I graduated, I taught at-risk children in a community youth outreach program. To remain involved and aware of the focus of my studies during my first year of law school, I volunteered at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center teaching youth their basic legal rights. Essentially, we strove to empower kids by providing practical information about the legal system and to help them develop more favora...
The importance of doing pro bono work as part of legal education is something that law students should take into account, not only due to the benefits it provides, both in developing key legal skills within a real-life context and enhancing graduate employability, but also because its charitable nature gives them a sense of having “given back” to their community by aiding those who seek out legal advice.

The criminal justice system has come a long way in the United States. This system is a unique and diverse formation that leads to many years of historical study. As new case studies and circumstances come to light, the criminal justice system continues to grow and change. Criminal justice officials are facing different challenges more so than those that existed many years ago. As the criminal justice system has evolved, so has the way professionals are expected to handle themselves in the community. Scholars interested in a career in any criminal justice field need a good foundation and a basis of knowledge. Perspectives in Criminal Justice is one of the first courses a student will take. This paper focuses on the some
How did a departmental faculty generated 12,000 hours of student community service in one semester? The following is a qualitative analysis of conversations with faculty members in a department that recently instituted a service learning requirement for all student majors. The campus is a large urban comprehensive university with a multi-ethnic student body. Approximately fifteen faculty members were interviewed for this study. While most of those interviewed included service learning components in their courses, interviews with faculty members who resisted or refused to incorporate service learning were conducted as well in order to understand varying faculty attitudes towards service learning.
