Being famous for the wrong reasons is just the same as not being famous at all. What is the point of being famous if anyone can do it? The current definition of famous is being known by many people, which is way too broad for a definition. If everyone were to go by that definition then I would be considered famous. Meghan Daum really hit the nail right on the head when she said, “Not so long ago you had to make a pretty strenuous effort to become well enough known to register as famous” (Duam 512). When I was growing up my brothers would always tell me that the odds of becoming famous were one-in-a-million. I knew they were exaggerating, but I understood the concept. The ratio for becoming famous today is, one person for every 10,000 aspiring. By examining people with talent vs. people with no talent, I want to redefine what it really means to be famous.
Personally, if was only known for partying and ending up drunk on the side of the road, I would feel pretty bad about myself. There is a current reality TV show called Snooki and Jwoww. The show dedicated to ex Jersey Shore reality star Nicole Polizzi’s (Snooki) pregnancy, and how she tries to distant herself away from partying. Not only should that have been an invasion of privacy, but it shows a lack of true talent, which is why I would even consider YouTube personalist Trè Melvin to be more famous then people like Snooki.
The difference between Gabriel Iglesias and Chris Rock is simple. Even though they both are equally funny, Chris Rock has a broader fan base then Gabriel. Chris Rock’s hip hop comedic style has proved a hit with the hip hop culture, as well as the white culture. Gabriel Iglesias is funny but he is nowhere near the comedic genius as Chris Rock. The truth is Ga...

...e they have a big enough fan bases, but their fans do not really care about them. When you are at Chris rock or Mariah Carey status, and you caused some kind of emotional effect you have reached level ten. People that are able incorporate, or have been through all ten levels of fame; people that are willing to give back to the community are famous geniuses. Oprah Winfrey is a very good example of a person who has dominated everything that has got in her way. She is a true inspiration and her fame will live on forever.

Many people might say that stars are merely a product of the Hollywood system needing to make a profit; Hollywood manufactures a product and creates the demand for it. A star's image is processed through advertisements and promotions and has little to do with what the audience wants and needs from entertainment. There is a widespread mentality that any Average Joe can become a star with enough resources backing him up. Richard Dyer points out, however, that even movies full of stars fail, and stars can and do fall out of fashion (12). A star's economic worth is not invulnerable to audiences' opinions. The audience isn't so easily controlled.
“When Sonny Boy’s mama died he played nonstop all day, so hard our backboard splintered.” (Komunyakaa). Though out history all fame can be summed up by the act of love of something. Driving factors can be love for a parent, such as in the quotes above. Sonny Boy pushed himself through the sport of basketball to cope with his mother’s death. The love of your country/ land such as the Native Americans when fighting for Americans not to take and tarnish the land they respected and loved so much, fame was achieved by both parties of the war when American children learn about it in history classes today. Finally people can have the love of themselves to achieve fame, travelers moved west to make a better life for themselves and wanting to make
Justin Bieber is suppose to be a role model for today’s society and demonstrates the immiturity of stars his age and how when you have “fans” all the fame can go straight to your head and you can start to believe you’re untouchable. “Why the f**k are you doing this? What the f**k did I do? Why did you stop me?” Bieber cussed out a cop when he was pulled over for drag racing in Miami. During the stop, Justin failed a sobriety test, admitted to under age drinking, smoking weed and taking some antidepressant prescription pills that his mother gave him. Over the last five years Justin has been careless with the stunts he has pulled and the things he has let take place. He has been caught fighting with paparazzi, he was urina...
In a world where billionaires and celebrities can have more influence over the public than government, the word power has become interchangeable with success. Although many of us have fantasized of our lives if we were famous, the majority of the population have given up on the notion of becoming famous, and have become more realistic towards future dreams and desires. However, what qualities drive people of fame to do things that keep their name out in the eye of the public? People desire power. Genuine power is the ability to influence.

All fame begins when you do something noticeable. For example, actors and actresses build upon their careers and reputations by achieving excellence in their personal goals, as well as perfecting their public performance.
There are many celebrities who have another side to them which people don’t really know about. Those public figures who are misunderstood can be an example to others who admire their work. Kim Kardashian is an actress, model and fashion designer. People think she is only famous because of her amazing body and beautiful face. On the other hand, some argue the only reason she became famous was because of a famous sex tape made public on the internet with a famous rapper named Ray-J back when they were dating. In fact, it first started when her dad, Robert Kardashian, was an attorney who helped O.J Simpson when he was accused of murder. That’s when the Kardashian family first became famous. Even though people don’t see Kim Kardashian as a role model, there are a few sides to her that no one knows about.
According to Epstein, a celebrity is something or someone who can be talented and full of achievements and yet wish to broadcast ones fame further through the careful cultivation of celebrity, while one can be the total opposite of achievements and be less talented and yet still be made seem otherwise through the mechanics and dynamics of celebrity creation (Epstein2). Celebrity culture today is epidemic; some might agree that it is sweeping up America in a harmful way, while one might argue that it is beneficial to our society. Over the last few decades, celebrity and fame has changed dramatically, from Alexander the Great to Kim Kardashian. Talent and achievements no longer play a huge role when it comes to celebrities. “Much modern celebrity seems the result of careful promotion or great good looks or something besides talent and achievement” (Epstein2) with that being said celebrity-creation has blossomed into an industry of its own.... ...
The perks of illimitable wealth, vacationing all over the world, housekeepers, chefs, being in receipt of freebies from designers, multiple homes in diverse parts of the world, chauffeurs, the finest foods, and all the other perks that come with being a celebrity? Do they all sound attractive? Sure they do, to those of us who want to live the fabulous life. The question is do we want the downfalls that come with fame? Can we handle vicious tabloid scrutiny, fabrications, and assumptions? Being a celebrity has its perks, but at what cost? Fame and mon...
Lerych, Lynne, and Allison DeBoer. The Little Black Book of College Writing. Boston, New York:
But sometimes it 's hard to tell. Others not so much. For example, many celebrities these days are getting caught in this rat race towards fame and success. One of the most memorable being Lance Armstrong, once a great role model for young people and a mediocre cyclist who ran a live strong campaign for Nike after defeating testicular cancer. A brave and insightful man who had been through so much, looked upon by so many people and fans. All ruined due to his undoubtedly idiotic addiction to lying. After years of lying and cheating Armstrong was completely comfortable with this habit which eventually took over his life and career by controlling him. Once he was in that deep hole of lying he was stuck there for good and had no motivation to ever get out as he never fully came clean about the events and doping he did. Now, all he 's known or even remembered for is lying and cheating for his whole career. When the cameras and stories finally settled after doping for many years, Armstrong 's reputation was tarnished forever and unquestionably never making a come back after this legendary status made such a move and lied so harshly about it. However Armstrong will still undoubtedly be the most famous cyclist in the world for winning several Tour de France titles, and all for what? Lying and cheating. While Armstrong likely spends his days soaking in dollars and spending
In our view, a rock star is someone who has achieved success through hard work and grew to be admired by society. These individuals have sought out to make changes for themselves by taking the first step towards their goals. Instead of following the crowd, these individuals became the leaders. For example, prominent celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and leading singers Maroon 5 became rock stars. Even though they have walked a path deviating from the norm, these individuals took actions to stand out from their classmates and peers. As a result, they gain fame and fortune. By standing out, rock stars can
Some celebrities can be looked up to, and many cannot be looked up to because of their actions. We, as a whole, should focus less on idolizing celebrities and more on those who make a difference in others’ lives, like firefighters, nurses, teachers, parents, and doctors. If you are going to idolize a celebrity, canonize someone like Audrey Hepburn because she went through a lot of horrific things and her life and she still made a difference in many others’ lives. She went through Africa helping those who were starving and was an ambassador for UNICEF. Overall, the majority of celebrities are not a good influence on people, so we should try our best not to worship them as we do now.
When most people think of the word ambition, they often think of it in a positive light; they do not realize that this personality trait is actually a double-edged sword. Ambition mixed with the right amount of inspiration can often lead to success and power, but ambition is often a difficult hunger to satisfy. One of the most basic aspirations all humans have wanted to achieve is fame and fortune. It has been desired since before the Common Era, and is still being sought by many today. In fact, a study performed in 2012 found that being famous was the most popular goal in a group of children from the ages of 10 to 12; the biggest reasons these children sought fame was because of their vulnerability, the celebrity of the lifestyle, they believe
