What I’m Doing Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this letter! Over the past year and a half, I have been attending a Christian internship program with Canby Foursquare Church in Oregon. I am attending this program to learn how to work in ministry. This has been an incredible experience for me. Through the internship, I have already been able to serve in all kinds of ways both within and outside of the church (i.e youth conferences, homeless outreaches, and much more) and I have learned the joy that comes with serving as I pursue God. In the coming days, I will be in 2 Africa serving as one of the team leaders. We will be at Open Arms Village reaching out to the children and family groups that are there, as well as, the surrounding …show more content…
I am currently interning with their youth program that is encouraging students to grow and discover the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as, leading small groups within the church. After I finish the program in June, I will have opportunities to further serve in ministry as a youth leader or as a missionary. Request Of Support Unfortunately, I am unable to complete this program on my own. I need help from others that would be willing to join together with me on my journey touching others and moving into my future ministry. First and foremost, I’d like to ask for prayer as I move forward down this path that God has set me on. Secondly, I need people who would be willing to support me financially. Due to the demanding nature of my internship, my time to work has become very limited. I am unable to work enough hours to pay for my tuition by the due dates. I will have to leave the program February 1st if I cannot raise $1500. I also have one more deadline ... that requires another $1500 due April 1st. If enough people can come together and help, I will graduate in June with a two year associates degree in ministry. I will then move into ministry and finish out a four year degree
“Youth Ministry” in a better way. Having little or no experience in youth ministry, I was not really sure where to start. I believe my start was chosen for me by a higher calling (God) do I believe I pick the right book to start reading or did the right book pick me? The book picked me and here is why.
I grew up in a home with a family that attend church weekly and was active in the church family. I knew about God and about His son but I never remember the story of salvation and the personal need for a savoir. As a teenager I walked away from the religion that I thought did not offer my anything. In my thirties, my husband was diagnosed with cancer and I immediately started my negotiations with God. Little did I know that He was not a negotiator but it was during this time in my life that I needed God more than He needed me. Since accepting the gift of God’s love, the salvation of a Savoir, and the renovation of my heart, I look to God for the path of my life. I share Gods truth through my career change to a Christian nob-profit that’s vision is to share God’s love to the community through the platform of pregnancy care and family services. Personally I have fulfilled God’s call to help the less fortunate by adopting a sibling group and participating and supporting mission trips to third world countries to support his children and missions there. My final piece of God’s plan I feel lead to complete is to volunteer my professional expertise and finances to work with a mission group that provides laboratory services to third world mission hospitals. I have done one trip for them and am currently planning a trip to Honduras in the new year. My day to
I spent every spring and summer in middle school doing mission work and community service. I loved the opportunity that it gave me to build relationships and share my beliefs with people I didn’t know. Little did I know that this would pave the way for a life-changing experience that I would encounter one day. Each spring my church would host a missionary event called “The Ignite Project.” I felt an urge to join the group, recognizing that it was a calling to profess my faith in Jesus. These mission trips helped me to go out
...s. I am thankful for all those I got to meet through this internship, and I am especially thankful to have had Bethany as a boss. I have an even greater deal of respect for the hospitality industry and I cannot wait to learn more about the sports world as a whole. This experience has served me well in my senior year and the lessons I learned here will serve me well in my career. I hope to one day possibly be an Athletic Director or a General Manager. I will probably have to interact with people in the hospitality industry and it will be much easier to understand what they require to be successful and how I can help them. Now my mission is to continue on with my experience and to learn as much as possible about the different careers within sport and how it all intertwines. I will continue to strive for greatness and to be the best possible friend and worker I can be.
Most recently, I am anticipating starting an internship with the National Eating Disorder Association as a crisis helpline volunteer. This will give me the opportunity to work with new age groups that I have not previously had a chance to get experience working
Since the town I grew up in did not have much diversity I found other ways to interact with individuals who are different from me. I was able to help out through various community service activities and participate in a variety of out of state community service trips. The community service activities and trips prepared me for an internship that gave me full insight to new social, cultural, and economic perspectives. Through the Wisconsin Area Health Education Center I was placed in a small northern Wisconsin county to gather information on why 2-year old immunization rates were low, investigate the influx of FoodShare, but the decline in Women, Infant, and Children, and facilitate meetings with community, and surrounding clinics on the issue of Wisconsin HealthCheck. Being from a small town I had an idea in my head that I was not going to encounter much diversity through my internship placement.
The young adults will also go to two retreats. One in ninth grade and the other in tenth grade. This is required by the by the Living for Christ Catholic Church of Saint Michael, MN. The young adult will need to find sponsors. Sponsors need to be picked before the fall of their 10th-grade year.
The first solutions I tried is applying for grants, and scholarships before the due date.
I hope you are doing well! I am about to start my second semester at Southwest Baptist University and I'm loving every second of it. I'm so lucky that I get to play volleyball while getting an education. I am working on a business major so that one day I can run my own boutique. This coming spring I will get the chance to travel through SBU to Honduras for a mission trip and I am super excited. What makes it more exciting is that I get to go with some of my volleyball teammates and my dad. This will be my first missions trip and I am so blessed to have the time and opportunity this year!
Thanks Dr. Mahan for your comments and question. To answer your question, the church values did line up with the members values. However, the traditional aspect of the church is somehow different because some members believe in traditional worship where others are hoping to move to more Contemporal style of worship. Yes, it seems like the leadership team has been ready for change for a long time and they are still working toward transitioning certain activities in the church. From what I gather in the interview process from the five members, it appears that majority of them believe that God is working in the lives of their children and members in the church through the word of God.
God is love (1 John 4:8, 16), so I feel that my passion-works will allow me to share unconditional love and compassion transforming into a selfless being who will make a huge impact for those less fortunate than we truly are. Much love and gratitude to the Father, Son, Holy Spirit who has guided me with Light to shine till expiration. Thank you for allowing me the ability to share my views and how it connects to our Almighty
...rvice. After three more WorldChangers trips, this passion to be a servant to others has grown to have a deep effect on my work ethic, influencing me to do the best job I can when helping others in order to show God’s love to the fullest. As John Hope Franklin claimed, “I would use my energies to make me a better person.” With the wisdom acquired from experiences like WorldChangers and from fellow brothers-in-Christ like various youth pastors, I’ve gained a purpose behind the efforts put into my hard work.
What are the benefits and advantages of internships? Internships help you gain exposure to real issues not found in textbooks, it also helps to increase your skills that are readily marketable from doing an internship. Interning can provide you with personal growth experiences and exposure to different job opportunities. Internships give you the opportunity to evaluate potential employers nearly risk free, which is a plus. I did an internship for a year at my church. The first thing I had to do was find the facility I was going to do the internship with. The next thing was to engage a suitable mentor for the work I was going to do as an intern. After talking to two perspective mentors one was chosen. Your mentor has to be dedicated to your success, and your spiritual growth. He or she must not be afraid of telling you the truth, and make sure you can follow instructions. An internship helps you to clarify your goals, gain experience by applying your knowledge and skills in work related situations.
...ell I plan to receive an academic scholarship, get students loans, and borrow money from a relative. I can aquire an academic scholarship by getting into the top five percent of William B. Travis Highschool of class 2007. I can get student loans by applying to the College Funding Services. I will get my money fast and make no payments until after graduation. Plus I have a grandpa that says he can pay for some of my college money.
Being the youth leader and the church admin has given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people and manage them equally, also it involves me listening to them and given them confidence in whatever they are going through at the time, also
