“Just like John Lennon, I should enjoy every moment of my time on this planet, however long it is,” John Lennon and Me is a play about a very creative and imaginative girl named Stella “Star” Grubner. This thirteen year old girl has cystic fibrosis which is a disease which will result in a young death.
John Lennon and me is based out of a Heart House residence next to a hospital. After the play starts, you see “Star” explaining her story and her sitting in her room when she meets her new roommate Courtney Cambridge who is also sick. Star was not happy about her roommate so they started off on a sour note. They become best friends who talk about their crushes/imaginary boyfriends like Tom and Jeff Levine. Star’s mother is aware of her getting

This story is very convincing until Star gets sick one night and coughs up a tremendous amount of blood and scares Courtney. Before Star gets sick, she tells all these lies like she has a boyfriend, who will later be introduced as Jeff Levine. After Star gets sick, Jeff shows Courtney about cystic fibrosis and how it is fatal, and that makes her confront Star. They work things out and talk about what they’ll do whenever Courtney gets released in a few days.
That whole conversation was put aside when “Claudia” who is Stars mom, wants to talk a walk with her. “Code Blue” is called over the intercom and Star goes to see who is on the verge of death. It was Courtney, her heart was ruptured and failed. When this happens, you can see the bond Courtney and Star had with eachother and that all come down to the acting.
The performance the actors gave was superb. Ava Duvall who played Star was so committed to the acting that you couldn’t tell her foot was broken. That’s right, a broken foot! She had to wear a special shoe, but you couldn’t tell that she was hurt. She acted so well that I thought the miss match shoe was part of the character's personality! One actor I cannot say I enjoyed is Malik Smith who is “Jeff Levine”. He had little acting parts, and when he acted he was so quiet. Overall the acting was amazing and the storyline is an emotional roller coaster
Anna and Ben realize that this short-term solution of starting a band only masks their issues and does not heal them. The conversations the two have on the more dramatic end of the spectrum are performed wonderfully. Trivial events in their lives are brought up, both pressing the narrative and emotional arc of this couple we’ve fallen in love with. The scenes are almost too real, which is one of the best compliments I can give to the actors involved.
Overall, the actors chosen to play each role were well picked. All of them portrayed the role they were supposed to very well. In particular, I think the best two were Ruby Archuleta and Ladd Devine. Ruby is a strong character in general, with obvious weaknesses, like her stubbornness in what may not have been the best times to be stubborn, making her well rounded. Ladd Devine is a good ‘villain’.
One of the main products of this movie that popped out to me was the stars. They all seemed to be great actors even though I only knew one of them. For example, I thought that Ian Michael Smith did a great job portraying Simon Birch. He made the movie cute and funny all at once. I also thought that Joseph Mazello did a great job portraying relatable feelings in the movie. You could tell by his facial expressions what his mood was. All the actors did a great job and I can’t pinpoint one of them who did worse than the
All characters in the movie were played well by the actors in my opinion. They
The shrewd publicity stunt generates a wake of teenage hysteria which sweeps the entire nation. The arrangement is that Birdie will administer a final “good-bye” kiss on Kim MacAfee (Ann-Margret), a randomly chosen Conrad Birdie Fan Club member. This kiss, which will also be a symbolic fair-well to all his crazed fans across the nation, will be accompanied by Birdie singing Albert’s latest song, “One Last Kiss.” However, Birdie's arrival in Kim's hometown of Sweet Apple, Ohio, for the TV broadcast on the “Ed Sullivan Show,” creates havoc for all, including Kim's father (Paul Lynde) and her boyfriend Hugo (Bobby Rydell). Inevitably, a heated feud is created between the genders, but all ends up fair in this musical tale of love and war.

... He really sold the part and did the part justice. Furthermore in the beginning of the flashback I had no idea who the main character was, but Christian developed the character subtly yet effectively.
The Day They shot John Lennon is by James McLure, and directed by Michael Bassett. The Cast involve Christy Carlson (Fran), Taylor Pokryfke (Sally), Taylore Cephas (Laura), Michael Palermo (Kevin), Miguel Salazar (Mike), Keith White (Morris), Jacob Rodriguez (Silvio), Bradford Bingham (Gately), and Andrew Wainscott (Brian). Having this play preform at Lewis University in the Philip Lynch, my college, was very convenient. I was also able to get in for free for the last day of production on October 9th 2016, which is a plus.
Kathy and Tommy’s special connection has been evident since the beginning of the story when Kathy tries to calm down Tommy during one of his tantrums. When they are around 16 years old, Tommy and Ruth start dating and for a brief period of time, Ruth and Tommy break up. Many of Kathy’s peers noticed the connection between Kathy and Tommy and deemed her the “natural successor” of who should date Tommy next. However, Ruth believed that she and Tommy belonged together and asked Kathy to convince Tommy to get back together with her. Tommy and Ruth begin dating again and remain dating until they leave the Cottages. With Kathy’s loyalty to both Ruth and Tommy, Ruth and Tommy’s relationship constantly complicates the dynamics of their friendship. However, Ruth saw the special relationship between Kathy and Tommy all along and did not admit it until she and Tommy are donors and Kathy is a carer. Ruth asks for Kathy’s forgiveness and admits that keeping Tommy and her apart was the worst thing she did. Ruth then says, “ I’m not even asking you to forgive...
John Lennon was born on October 9th 1940 in Liverpool, England 1. His father left the family to sail the seas before Lennon’s earliest childhood memory and his mother was taken away by a car accident when he was 18 2. A year after his mother’s death, the Vietnam War took place, which is The United State’s longest military dispute ever. The world famous band, The Beatles, debut on 1961 not long after the start of the war and through this band, Lennon was able to demonstrate his feelings to the people across the world. "Revolution," performed by The Beatles, was created in 1968, when the anti-war demonstration was on the move. After the separation of The Beatles in 1969, Lennon composed the song "Imagine" (1971) 3. This song proves that Lennon is a Peace-Loving-Atheist and a "Voluntarist" 4 that believes in the scheme that people’s ideas can change social reality; however simultaneously admits that there are constantly wars going on in the world. As a result, he could be a mixture of all four, Realist, Liberal, Marxist and Constructivist. On December 8th 1980, approximately five years after the end of the Vietnam War, Lennon was assassinated by Mark Chapman 5. It is not for certain that the word assassination could be used on a singer, song writer who also published books. However there is no doubt about the fact that Lennon touched many people’s hearts around the world and maybe was even praised as an almighty figure.
The book Come Together written by Jon Wiener is a book covering the life of John Lennon, the impact of his music, and his activism. The book covers the era of his music, as well as how his music and voice was able to impact society, specifically in America. Although John Lennon was not born an American, he lived a significant amount of his life in the United States and adapted to our culture as well as adding to it significantly. Since America was founded by and is made up of immigrants, he is without a doubt an American. The book Come Together focuses less on the music that Lennon was creating, but rather the effects and counterculture Lennon was able to influence with his popularity.
The overall story line shows that falling in love while being terminally ill has its benefits after all but out of the two reviews given by Nashawaty and Scott, Nshawaty depicted the movie best by giving his honest opinion. The New York Times editor Scott suggest that the movie is not at all about cancer but more a celebration of adolescent narcissism. Shailene Woodley playing Hazel Grace and Ansel
I thought this movie was great, yet I was hoping for brilliant like his past films 'The 6 Sense' and 'Sign's. The performances by Becca and Tyler were solid, they had this movie down having been my favorite chacters during the movie. Kathyrn Hahn's brief appreance was good to watch as she is a versitile actress, who shows both acting comedy as well as thriller can be done. Deanna Dunagan was a tour de force giving her character a very insanse, real terror to the movie. I found her performance to be the absoulte best performance this year.
Lennon had been a huge idol to Chapman growing up, so it was a little surprising that he would target the former Beatle. Chapman worshipped Lennon, until the singer had been quoted saying that the Beatles were “more popular than Jesus Christ now”. This one phrase angered Chapman, who was a devout Christian, and may have first influenced his decision to kill Lennon (Mark Chapman: The Assassination of John). Chapman also claimed that after reading J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye, he connected with the main character, Holden Caulfield, and was influenced by him as well. Even when he was arrested, Chapman was found on the steps to Lennon’s apartment, reading a copy of The Catcher in the Rye (John Lennon, Former Beatle, Slain by Gunman in New York; Ex-Mental Patient Charged). Although the Beatles had been broken up for many years by the time this incident occurred, it still affected all kinds of people in all different ways. Pfeiffer compares her reaction to the
Imagine all the people, living life in peace. Written, and recorded by founder of The Beatles John Lennon, “Imagine” was at the time of release and still remains today one of Lennon’s greatest pieces of work. “Imagine” was released in 1971, a contradicting time of war and peace (Henke). While the war in Vietnam was happening over seas, the Peace Movement was taking place back in the Untied States. Riots, protests against war, and violence were a common sight. It was a time of turmoil with much anger and hatred toward the war happening in Vietnam, and Lennon’s work “Imagine” speaks heavily to the desires some were having for a peaceful world. From simple harmonies and repetitive structures to beautifully honest lyrics, John Lennon’s “Imagine” expresses his idealized wish for a world of peace and harmony.
