Even though it is technically illegal in most states that does not stop people from growing, selling, or smoking it. It is known to be the fourth most commonly used drug worldwide. The first strain is called Cannabis sativa. It is the more common of the two throughout the world. This strain can produce different levels of marijuana. The drug that is produced from Cannabis sativa can be very strong or weak depending on cultivation, the climate it is grown in, and the method of preparation (“Marijuana”). This strain is also known to have strong fiber but less drug material than the other strain, Cannabis indica (Hollister and McDonough). Cannabis indica has leaves that are rounder than the sativa strain. It is known for higher drug content but weaker fibers. Most plants grown in the United States are hybrids of the two. The hybrid has strong fiber with a good amount of drug allowing for the best of both stains. Of course there are parts of the plant that are more potent of the drug than others. The resin is the most potent drug source on the plant. You can find it on the flower clusters on the female plant, or even the top leaves of the female plant (“Marijuana”). Both strains are harvest the same way. All you have to do is cut the plant down and chop it into small pieces using every part of the
Why isn 't marijuana legal in the United States? Marijuana could serve many purposes to the human body and the community. In 1937, the government issued the Marijuana Tax Act. This act immediately criminalized marijuana. This means you can not have possession of the drug for medical purposes or not. This act is still in effect today, but it should be repealed .
Marijuana is one of the oldest cultivated plants (Nahas 8). Since it became illegal in 1967, there have been questions of whether or not it is good for purposes, such as medicine, other than being a leisure drug. Debates between pro and con groups for the use of marijuana in the medical profession, have been heated and in recent months, referendums have been pasted in a least three states to make it accessible for medical treatment. Personally, I feel that marijuana has the potential to be a significant help with certain aliments, however, more research needs to be done to maximize its potential.
Medical marijuana refers to the use of cannabis and its chemical compound, which is THC and CBD, as medical therapy to treat disease or alleviate symptoms. The marijuana plant has a history of medical use dating back thousands of years through many cultures. Its usage in modern times is controversial, and in recent years the American Medical Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and other pharmaceutical organizations have issued statements opposing its usage for medical reasons. There are three species of Marijuana. The most common and most psychoactive is a prepared mixture of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. Cannabis indica is known to be less potent and Cannabis ruderalis has virtually no psychoactive ingredients. Cannabis sativa will be analyzed in detail since it is the most commonly used species. This plant grows wild but it can be cultivated in temperate as well as tropical areas. Cannabis products can be smoked in pipes or cigarettes. They can also be ingested with food. Manufactured products range from paper to ink (WWW 2).
Through recent years, society has been faced with the controversial and obtrusive issue of whether or not to legalize marijuana. In the past, and even still in the present, marijuana has often been regarded as an illicit and malicious drug. However, research shows that marijuana is not nearly as bad as society deems it to be. Rather it can be used to greatly benefit humanity. Cannabis’ (marijuana) range of beneficial uses include: helping former veterans cope with life after war, alleviate symptoms for people who suffer with Parkinson 's and epilepsy, and replace prescription drugs. This disputation regarding marijuana can be solved by simply legalizing it for recreational purposes, and implementing laws and regulations similar to that of alcohol.
Exactly what is marijuana? Marijuana is made of the dried leaves and flowers of the female cannabis sativa plant, and looks like oregano. There are many different marijuana preparations that are widely used to obtain effects. It can be either smoked or taken by mouth. Marijuana can be smoked in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette ("joint" or "reefer") it is also smoked in a variety of pipes. Hashish is often blended with tobacco and smoked. It is more potent than marijuana because it contains a higher concentration of THC. THC is the main ingredient in all cannabis preparations. The more THC cannabis contains, the stronger it is. The effects of marijuana are similar to alcohol intoxication. Small amounts can make you relaxed and generally less inhibited yet some users say that it enhances the experiences of music, food and sex. After hearing all about how college students feel about marijuana I wanted to find out for myself, so...
Legalizing marijuana, in my opinion, would be a good thing for me. No, I do not smoke marijuana or cigars simply due to the fact that it is against my religion. I am for legalization because; there are many gains from the plant. I want it legalized because; there are many medical uses for it. I have read many scholarly journals and have been exposed to multiple individual that have used marijuana. An excellent example of this is a research done with the use of marijuana. This research does not show how marijuana effects the human body, but the fact that doctors due know that it has benefits and that the numbers shows records of patient using the drug. In the paper it says that “Fifty percent of the sample reported that they used marijuana as a substitute for prescription medicine”
Cannabis, more commonly known as marijuana, is a plant that people have been using recreationally for years. In fact, people have consumed marijuana since ancient times. The prohibition of marijuana has gone on for far too long, and it is time for America to change its views.
It’s dangerous, addictive, and destroys millions of teen lives, that is what we are led to believe about marijuana. We have been conditioned to think it is bad and the people that use it are bad. Over 98 million people over the age of 12 have smoked. It is very common, and plays a substantial role in modern day pop culture. The problem is that so many of us are unfamiliar with all the benefits marijuana provides. Instead of assuming it’s dangerous, as a country we should keep an open-mind to the positives it may bring to the United States. That is why the legalization of marijuana should be available for those at least 21 years of age because of the economic, health and social benefits.
The controversy dealing with marijuana stems from the legalization of the drug for medical use.
Studies have perfectly shown that strains of marijuana often reflect options carrying medicinal and recreational use. However, the named options have been practically developed with a high percentage of cannabinoids. There are certain options of the plant that contains low cannabinoid content such as hemp. These options are basically grown for their seed and fiber. With this simple explanation, you can understand the basis of the term marijuana strains. It is simply the varieties of the marijuana plant with respect to their features.
