The ingredient in marijuana that gets you "high" is called THC. Some of marijuana’s effects are relaxation, uplifting, lack of attention, impaired memory, some experience paranoia, or some experience euphoria. There are many people that use it in the United States. Statistics say that one third of Americans have used it at one time or another. The legalization of marijuana would benefit America in many ways, such as increased government income, creating jobs for Americans, and lowering the crime rates in the country.

If marijuana was legalized it would be the same as tobacco or alcohol. It could create jobs like manufacturing, farming, and distribution places. Each marijuana franchise would create about 75 jobs. In Los Angeles alone there are an estimated of 800 shops the dispense marijuana. The United States every year spends about $7.7 billion to enforce the ban of marijuana. If the plant was legalized, it would save the government money and it would help them make money if they taxed it. By taxing marijuana, it would bring in another six billion dollars every year. Colorado made over a million dollars the first day it was legalized. Colorado itself made five million dollars in five days on the sales of marijuana. The only states with marijuana legalized for recreational use are California, Colorado, and Washington.

There are many reasons that marijuana should be legalized. It would help our government, and our people. It could create a ton of jobs and make a lot of money to help the United States get out of our national debt. Marijuana is portrayed as a bad drug but it can help people with all kinds of health problems.
