LeBron James always celebrates his teammates success when it comes to scoring, passing, or even communicating. The pigs are not good at celebrating their comrade’s successes. The book stated ,‘to celebrate our victory!’ cried Squealer. ‘What victory?’ said Boxer. His knees were bleeding, he had lost a shoe and split his hoof, and a dozen pellets had lodged themselves in his hind leg. ‘What victory, comrade? Have we not driven the enemy off our soil — the sacred soil of Animal Farm?”The pigs think that if a success for them is a success for everyone. They do not understand that some of their comrades could’ve failed. They are very selfish. The author stated that, “James, who never had a top-tier teammate in Cleveland, was getting two in Miami. Dwyane Wade already had won a championship with the Heat, and Chris Bosh was leaving the Toronto Raptors to complete what was instantly the NBA's most daunting top three. In explaining his decision, James spoke of alleviating the "the pressure of going out and scoring 30 every night.” LeBron James knew that he had good teammates. He knew he could count on them to score points and help the team win the game. LeBron James is great at celebrating his teammate’s successes. Celebration is needed to be a good leader. It was not until the year 2002 that the NBA was able to find someone to match Jordan’s dazzling acrobatic style of play. His name is Lebron James. Lebron, who plays shooting guard and small forward, stands at an athletic six-eight. James, however, never played in the NCAA. He was drafted straight out of high school in the 2003-04 season, by the Cleveland Cavaliers. James is already on the road to success by achieving co-rookie of the year, and he appeared in the Olympics. James is expected to be a champion, but he may not have what it takes to become a real champion such as Michael Jordan was. Before Jordan or James can be categorized as a champion, they have to be able to handle pressure, fame, and maintain a positive relationship with their team. When comparing Jordan and James’ clutch capabilities, or their ab...

James explains that he feels like a son to the city of Cleveland. He says, “people there have seen me grow up.” The community watched him develop physically, mentally, and as a player. James grew matured from an eighteen-year-old kid to a twenty-five-year-old man. With age comes responsibility, and he is well aware of the situation, as well as the responsibility to lead the team. He engages the audience by using nicknames, such as “D-Wade,” “CB,” and “Riles,” to name a few. James refers to the team as his brothers, another indication of how influential family has been on his career and his life altogether. His emotions and values express that family is what makes him
“If you build it, he will come” (Kinsella 1). These words of an announcer jump start a struggle for Ray Kinsella to ease the tragic life of Shoeless Joe Jackson. Ray hears a voice of an announcer which leads him to build a baseball field that brings Shoeless Joe Jackson onto the field. However, this field puts his family on the verge of bankruptcy which is just one of the struggles Ray Kinsella is presented in his life. Shoeless Joe Jackson is no stranger to having no money, as he was only making a measly $1.25 as a kid struggling to support his family. He never attended school and was illiterate throughout his entire life. The struggle is completely the same with Ray Kinsella growing up, as he is forced into baseball, which ultimately makes him run away from home. Ray’s hate is Joes love. Joe loves baseball and makes it to the major leagues, but it doesn’t last. Joe’s career is cut short due to the fact he is accused of throwing the World Series, and banned from baseball forever. Rays’s father would have loved it if his son made it to the major leagues because he thought Ray had the potential and talent. However, his only dream was simple, he wanted to play a game of catch with his son, unfortunately, he passed away and he never got to see his son after he ran away. Shoeless Joe Jackson’s death wasn’t any better, as he died guilty of throwing the World Series which was the biggest sports tragedy to date. Tragedies are not uncommon phenomena, Ray Kinsella and Shoeless Joe Jackson have the unfortunate luck to go through a struggle fulfilled and uphill battle in what is suppose to be a wonderful thing, life.
“Pistol” Pete Maravich is the highest scorer in College basketball history he had 3,667 points in his four year career at LSU. In the middle portion of the book it started talking about Pete’s middle school and high school basketball memories and his great achievements. The next portion of the book spoke about Pete’s college offers and his tough decision to choose which one to attend. Another part of the book really got into the life of Pete’s brother Ronnie. Finally the last part of the book I read spoke about Pete’s legendary College basketball career. After going over this portion of the book it was easy to connect with Pete’s
It is evident that Saul had found his escape in hockey since he was first introduced to the game. He mentions that "[a]t night in the dormitory...I would get out of bed and stand in the aisle...mimic the motion of stickhandling. I pictured myself...with the puck tucked...on the blade of my stick...I'd stand there, arms held high...and I would not feel lonely or afraid, deserted or abandoned..." (Wagamese 62) It is clear to see that Saul is already beginning to feel less alone even though he has not started to play on the ice yet. He finds comfort within the concept and idea of the game that helps to make the horrific experiences at St Jerome's bearable and somewhat pleasant. The game transports him to a different time and place that pushes all of the negativity in his mind
Every person goes through phases that change their personality. James McBride has gone through many transformations throughout his life. The people in his life and the environment he lived in had a lot to do with his transformation of a person. He started off a curious, worried, confused child to a rebellious, high school drop-out, bum teenager. Luckily he got control of his life again and became a successful, accepting, proud adult.
Most novels have a good main character and even the bad ones have qualities that make them likable. This, however, is not the case with Larry Brown’s novel Father And Son. From the day Glen gets out of prison to the day he dies, his actions are despicable. Bobby on the other hand is a great contrast to this detestable character. Glen and Bobby are a great example of a major theme of this novel, good vs. evil. Other examples are Mary and Emma, and old and new Virgil.
In T.H. White's Once and Future King, fate plays a very important role in Arthur's life when he meets Merlyn and Merlyn becomes his mentor. When they first met, Arthur was confused as to why Merlyn was going all the way home with him until Merlyn said, "Why not? How else can I be your tutor?" (37) Arthur realizes he had been on a quest to find his tutor. This quote is important to the theme because it was Arthur's first quest on his journey towards king. This reason this quote is so important is because Merlyn is preparing Arthur to become a great leader. After all of Arthur's training with Merlyn, Merlyn tells Arthur that he might not know it yet but he will be, "Hic jacet Arthutus Rex quandum Rexque futurus... The Once and Future King." (287) This quote foreshadows that Arthur, will in fact, become the great leader. If it were not for training with Merlyn, he would not be the great leader he developed into throughout the book.

A perfect athlete should make an impact on the world and use his or her talents to influence and encourage less fortunate people. For example, the NBA 2016 MVP and one of the best basketball players of all time, LeBron James. James always credits his fellow teammates and family for his success and returned home to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to victory for 2016 NBA Championship. Another major team player who has made an impact is former NFL (National Football League) linebacker, Ray Lewis. As stated by Brittany Jacobs, a correspondent for Bleacher Report, a digital sports broadcasting company, Lewis was one of the premier leaders in the NFL. Jacobs writes, “Ray Lewis is more than just a football player. Ray Lewis has become an emblem of all the Baltimore Ravens want to be. A dominant force that inspires all those in the
The corrupting influence of power on Animal Farm creates two very different characters, Snowball and Napoleon. Even though Snowball, who is the lively and friendly pig, and Napoleon who is the fierce, cruel boar, they have their similarities. They want to become the leaders of Animal Farm, they agree on the seven commandments and Animalism, and they are masters of convincing and persuasion. Although most characters are not perfectly similar or polar opposites, it is important to know that the end of Animal Farm may have been quite similar if it had ended with Snowball as the leader.
