Lebron James: A Professional Basketball Player

Lebron James is a Professional basketball player and goes down as one of the best basketball players known to man other than Michael Jordan. He was drafted into the NBA straight out of high school, showing you how skillful and athletic he was. Lebron’s road to getting where he is now was not an ordinary kid’s road, he had many obstacles in his way trying to become pro along with family issues and school issues. When Lebron was a child, his mom was a single mother struggling for money to feed Lebron and herself, she was working over 3 jobs a week trying to raise money. Eventually she gave up and wanted a better life for Lebron so she’s put him with a foster family with 2 other children until she could get enough money to raise Lebron. For over

a year Lebron stayed with this family, they took care of him and he got along with the other kids and the parents. “Lebron was always a hard worker” says one of the parents, “he would come home and do all of his homework and would do all of his chores without me asking him to” (“Lebron James the Making of An MVP” book). Lebron went to St. Vincent–St. Mary High School and worked extremely hard every day. This school wasn’t considered a very wealthy school, nothing was very high quality but that’s what Lebron had to work with and look at him now. Lebron graduated high school with a GPA of 3.2(http://www.biography.com/people/lebron-james-399748) and was an all-star on his basketball team along with his friends that pushed him to keep going.
Lebron had many role models in his childhood, people that pushed him to never give up and to keep going forward. Some of those role models were his coach’s, Keith Dambrot and Dru Joyce. Dru states “Since the beginning I knew Lebron would become professional just by watching him play 1 game”. His coaches always pushed him to keep practicing and kept motivating him even though he had family issues to keep going while telling him to focus on school and pass all of your classes. He had many role models and motivators some being his friends and his basketball team. Lebron was friends with everyone on his basketball team and in rough times those friends would always cheer him up and pushed him to never stop trying and that everything will get better. His coaches and friends were pretty high up there on LeBron’s role model and motivator list, but the person he looked up to the most was his Mom. Even though he only got to see her once a week he noticed how strong she’s been, leaving Lebron and trying to make a better life for him and saw how she never gave up even though things got bad. Lebron eventually moved back in with his Mom after his junior year, the year he started to become famous.
By the end of LeBron’s junior year, Lebron was so talented he started to be on the news and magazines like sports illustrated!

By the beginning of his senior year, there were college scouts at all of his games and even NBA scouts, watching him, seeing if his has the skill to go professional. Well by the end of his senior year he entered the NBA draft and had interviews with over 3 teams, and was a 1rst round draft pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers. “LeBron’s first season in the NBA was amazing” says sports illustrated, Lebron won rookies of the year and got to play in the rising star game and by that time, other team GM’s noticed how talented and athletic he was. He played for the Cavs for 6 years then became a free agent and was drafted by Miami heat. Building a strong relationship with everyone on the team, Lebron and the Miami Heat won 2 championships back to back! Shows how much of an outlier he is, starting with nothing and having a tough childhood to going to being an NBA

star.
Lebron was always intelligent, since middle school, he would always try hard in school while trying hard in basketball.

Not only was he intelligent in school, he was also intelligent while playing basketball. His high school coaches stated “Lebron was such an intelligent player, he always knew when to pass it and shoot it and always came up with smart plays.” Even his team mates said he was the smartest player on the team, only showing how much more of an outlier he is. This court intelligence along with just his higher IQ for a basketball player was one of the reasons he became professional, he averaged 20 points a game with 3 assists (http://www.biography.com/people/lebron-james-399748). Lebron James now currently plays for the Cavs, he signed with Miami in 2010 and recently in the 2014-2015 season rejoined the Cavs, and the town of Cleveland went crazy. Since Lebron has joined the NBA he as such a broad fan base, everyone loves him including the town of Cleveland which is considered Lebron’s “home” because it was the first team he played for in the NBA. With the amount of time Lebron put into basketball along with his rough childhood I would say he deserved success. He had so many obstacles that he had to face just trying to get through school alone. But he stayed strong and pushed through it all. player and not only do people motivate him but he motivates others. Team mates of Lebron say that he is a leader, he knows everyone full potential and motivates them to do the best they can.
