Learning Profile Paper The word college isn’t just an ordinary word but a symbol. A phrase to symbolize “I made it.” I am a first generation college student. For me just knowing the title I hold for my family, that’s enough inspiration to get me through my studies. No matter what college brings to my plate this will be my inspiration. The importance of attending ACC as high school student is off the charts and almost unable to describe. A major key to earning my college education early, would be ensuring my success in my field of interest. As an adult I would love to pursue job in the psychology field and by attending college I know I can get there. By having a kick start on my education I know I am changing the name for my family as well as making as making them proud. By getting a further education I could start the trend for my family to do the same. My overall goal for myself as a person is to earn my Associates before I graduate highschool. Canceling out all distractions is important to reach all small goals, but ideally to reach the time consuming wishes as well. Being the first one to attend college in my family has pushed me to continue my education. Now in today’s society a college degree is so important. I want my parents to be proud of me, and be happy with my high level career after college, and that starts with my education. I also hope to be an influence on my younger brother and show him that a college education is important. He looks up to me, and I need to be a good role model for him. I was raised in an encouraging household where both of my parents greatly valued education. Although they were high school graduates, neither could afford to attend college; a combination of family and financial woes ultimately halted their path. As a result, my parents frequently reminded me that getting a good education meant better opportunities for my future. To my parents, that seemed to be the overarching goal: a better life for me than the one they had. My parents wanted me to excel and supported me financially and emotionally of which the former was something their parents were not able to provide. My parents have this perfect life for me pictured in their heads, and the first thing they see me doing is going to college. Attending college has helped me see the right benefits that will help me achieve my ultimate dream goals. First of all, I want to be able to learn how to relate to different cultures, ethnicities, and personalities, and also be able to understand different backgrounds, the way people from diverse culture think and act and their lifestyles; In addition, I want to learn how to adapt to new situations including dealing with responsibilities such as using Blackboard and making sure that all my assignments are completed and submitted on time. Furthermore, I will have to learn how to adapt to being an adult and taking care of my own needs.
Gaining advanced nursing education is my goal. I don’t even remember when I decided to be a nurse because I used to say I wanted to be a nurse when one of my teachers asked me in grade 2. When I was in grade 4, we had to study about Florence Nightingale and I came to know how she helped people during crisis situations. She is still alive in us even after her death.
