Getting a job in Hollywood, New York or any other fame central occupation location can be difficult, especially when everyone in the business tells you your dreams are impossible, but those dreams do become a reality for a lucky few. A prime example of this is singer/actress, Lea Michele. Lea made it her mission in life to prove wrong all those Hollywood casting directors and harsh media critics that say you have to look or act a certain way to be famous. She has cut right through all the negativity and risen to the top, showing the world that if you work hard and want it enough, you can be whatever you want to be. Lea was born Lea Michele Sarfati on August 29th, 1986 in The Bronx, New York to her parents Mark and Edith Sarfati. Her father …show more content…
The play is about Wendla Bergmann, a 14 year old girl in late nineteenth century Germany. The main plotline explains how Wendla’s mother, and the parents of her friends, try to keep the children unaware of certain “adult activities,” thinking ignorance will help them remain pure. One of the boys, Melchior Gabor-who was played by Michele’s real life best friend Jonathan Groff-was a bit more curious than his friends and began learning about this forbidden topic through books. Once Melchior had been enlightened, he “educated” his friends, specifically Wendla, which initiated the musical’s central theme of sexual discovery. Because Lea was so young at the time, and also because the producers had a hard time getting people on board with putting a teenager in a play with such intense adult themes, they decided to wait a few years before premiering the show. In that time, Lea went to every workshop and reading to help ready herself for the challenging role. Spring Awakening premiered off-Broadway on May 19th, 2006, and opened on Broadway in the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on December 10th, 2006. The show won eight Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, and a Grammy. Lea’s final performance was on May 18, 2008, and the show closed on January 18, …show more content…
Michele plays the seemingly arrogant and conceited, yet outrageously talented Rachel Berry. Season’s one through three all stress Rachel’s immense desire to move to New York to become a famous Broadway star, and how she’ll do anything it takes to achieve that dream. At the end of season three, Rachel receives an acceptance letter to her dream school, NYADA, or the New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts. Rachel’s main story line in season four is her transition from tiny Lima, Ohio to the bright lights of NYC, and her struggles along the way. Due to the sudden death of Lea’s on and off screen boyfriend, Cory Monteith who played Finn Hudson, the show was almost cancelled right before the cast began filming season five. When asked by “Glee’s” creator and writer, Ryan Murphy, about how she wanted to proceed, Lea said she wanted to continue with the show because that’s what Cory would’ve wanted, and work would be a good distraction for her. She stated in an interview that “Going to work is no harder than being at home, and being in the house, and opening up a closet and seeing a pair of
The Entertainment Industry is an expanding industry with numerous career opportunities especially for the quick learning students in today’s world. I chose to study the entertainment industry because I have always had a passion for it. I grew up with music always playing on the radio and if the radio was off, the television was tuned into some show. I know many people listen to music and watch television all the time, but there is so much more to this industry. Being so passionate has led me to studying specific things in the industry and learning the ins and outs of it, which is helping me to find a potential career. There are many people in the industry that I look up to and one person, who has made it in particular, is Debra Rathwell.

For many of us “regular folk”, we dream of visiting California and seeing celebrities or even being one. We see Hollywood as a heaven or even a holy bubble that we all want to be in. This is not true for all, but it is for most. We as a society do not generally think of the negative impacts Hollywood and fame has on an individual. Carrie Fisher, with her wit, humor, and extreme honesty, takes us inside her life and gives us her insight on Hollywood based her upbringing. After going through multiple triumphs, tragedies, and revelations Fisher writes about it all in her book, Wishful Drinking, along with three other novels she has written. Now you see why I used the term “regular folk,” because Fisher is the opposite of a “regular folk.” Even

Many people might say that stars are merely a product of the Hollywood system needing to make a profit; Hollywood manufactures a product and creates the demand for it. A star's image is processed through advertisements and promotions and has little to do with what the audience wants and needs from entertainment. There is a widespread mentality that any Average Joe can become a star with enough resources backing him up. Richard Dyer points out, however, that even movies full of stars fail, and stars can and do fall out of fashion (12). A star's economic worth is not invulnerable to audiences' opinions. The audience isn't so easily controlled.

Titus Livius Patavinius was a patriot who believed in the "purer morality" of the Roman Empire and Republic that had sustained its existence for so long. He also saw, however, a gradual decline in morality and virtue over time as Roman society became richer and more prone to greed. As a result of this observation, he did not trust that any modern ruler would possess the moral integrity of the great leaders of the past, but perhaps if they read his book they could learn from the good examples and be warned by the bad ones. Machiavelli also agreed that history should be studied and applied to the present, but he believed that when people read Livy, they took “infinitely more pleasure in knowing the variety of incidents that are contained in [Livy’s writings], without ever thinking of imitating them.” In other words, Livy’s account of Rome was more of a glorified fairytale which no one could possibly use as a reference for solving current problems so he decided to write a commentary explaining what he believed to be the real reasons for the rise (and fall) of Rome. Both Livy and Machi...
“Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins, my sin, my soul” (Nabokov 9). Quoted from Vladimir Nabokov’s novel Lolita, Humbert Humbert briefly describes his sensibilities towards his love Lolita. I’ve italicized love for the reason that this book is perceived often as not a true American love story but as a pedophile’s lust. The reasoning for the italicization is because I wanted to emphasis on the point that this book offers more than that of a pedophile’s love. Nabokov’s novel does a very good job of creating an interesting yet unorthodoxed plot. What Nabokov might find acceptable in today’s society, some people might find very offensive and disrupting. He does this to grab the reader’s attention; therefore, building their interests by having them see the other side of things. Why many readers may find this book to be associated with pornography or just another literary piece surrounded around pedophilia, Nabokov hits you with textual evidence, which may sway reader’s minds. As a reader of this novel, I am compelled to show you how this book is a true American “Love Story.”

All fame begins when you do something noticeable. For example, actors and actresses build upon their careers and reputations by achieving excellence in their personal goals, as well as perfecting their public performance.
The fame that comes from being a celebrity or entrepreneur does not render them immune from ridicule, speculations, loneliness, or exploit. Those chasing the American Dream may see this end goal of becoming wealthy enough for all of their problems to disappear, but this ...
