“Laws Should Reflect Reality” authored by Nicky grits seemed to be a narrative on the benefits of marriage both romantically and economically. The way I perceive this is love will always be a pre-requisite for all couples. However, any couple considering marriage there must be a detailed thought of how it effects your family, religion, and your values and the future of the relationship. As Grits points out in the article. Diversity in marriage, such as gay couples, interracial may be in the earliest stage and as Grist says they were denied equal government benefits by those who seek your vote, by denying your rights as an American. Marriage is about love and should always be about love. Every one knows the meaning ove marriage and the …show more content…
Love between two people should be left alone. Marriage shouldn’t require paper work and all that unnecessary hassle to go through. Marriage should always be between man and women like I mentioned. However the united states supreme court has ruled that all fifty states issue marriage licenses to same sex coupe and marriages. Only the constitution of the states have the right to allow or disallow same sex marriage not the government. In reality Marriage is a contract that binds one’s assets to another. Therefore couples seek compassion without commitment. This doesn’t help at all with the finances and property. The world knows that marriage is a mutual commitment between two adults that will evolve into a group to live as one. Unfortunately conflicts in marriage are not uncommon infidelity, children, and money are the causes of divorce, lack of interest is is also another reason. Couples of all ages, religion, race and gender often drift apart and that is the reality of marriage. The courts actions can make a relationship turn ugly, often using the children as puppets to gain the support of the
In this day and age there are many variations of what constitutes a couple or family in comparison to many years ago. Long ago the idea of a ‘nuclear family’ was considered the norm; it consisted of the conventional husband, wife and children . But as our society progressed through the years this definition became less conventional and criticisms were made, this definition of ‘family’ did not account for gay unions, soul parents nor did it acknowledge the prevalence of extended family. The definition of family has changed over time, as have the socially defined roles of mothers and fathers. Within these varied family units, situations occur in which divorces and separations take place and a lot of the times these tricky situations may involve children, which can make an already tricky situation even more problematic. There are pieces of legislation which are in place which aim to protect the best interests of a child during the time their parents are going through divorce but sometimes these avenues can be more problematic and ultimately destroy unions whereas other avenues of dispute resolution such as mediation, albeit with its own criticisms, helps to keep relationships afoot in that it provides an opportunity for peaceful and mutual agreements to be made in a more laid back environment.
Marriage is the thing some people live for. Why can’t they have it?
Marriage is a copmlicated but lovely bonding in which two individual spend their life with eachother and play a important role in meeting the demands of man and woman.(Berne,Steiner, Dusay, 1973). Marital conflicts happen when one or both people are self-centered. One selfishly wants what he wants without consideration for the capabilities, plans, or goals of his spouse. Researches has
Marriage is a commitment that seems to be getting harder to keep. The social standards placed on an individual by society and influenced by the media inevitably lead some to consider divorce as a “quick-fix” option. “Have it your way” has become a motto in the United States. It has become a country without any consideration of the psychological effects of marriage and divorce. The overwhelmingly high divorce rate is caused by a lack of moral beliefs and marital expectations.
The word marriage means many things to many different people. To some people marriage is a religious ceremony, and should remain a religious union, without any interaction by the government. For others marriage is a legal contract, which should benefit both parties involved in the marriage. According Wikipedia.com, most people define marriage as “(1) the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as a husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of the traditional relationship.” Not only has the type of contract marriage is become so controversial, but also the idea of who exactly is allowed to be married is an unresolved issue. Due to so many conflicting views on marriage, some people have wanted the government to define the word marriage, while others feel that it is not in the government’s job description to do so. As a result the Federal government did decide to define it with the proposition of the marriage amendment. What the marriage amendment states is that “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and woman. Neither constitution or the constitution of any state, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the logical incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.” However despite efforts by the government to solve matters/issues of marriage, more problems in fact come out of this. The marriage amendment should not be in motion because it goes against the very idea of federalism, takes away civil rights, and also takes power away from the courts also.
Marriage to me is between one man and one woman. The act/idea of marriage came from the Bible and was established by God. He is the one who started it. Marriage is an institution that is recognized by the government, not created by it. So, can the government redefine something at its will? I would never infringe on the rights of other people. If another man wants to be with another, not my business. I will say that it is not a marriage to
Even in heterosexual couples, they can 't help and choose who they fall in love with; It just happens. It 's the same concept with homosexual couples. They can 't choose who they 'll fall in love with, love is just something that happens. It 's unexpected and unpredictable. Who are we to tell two people they can 't complete their love by getting married only because they are a homosexual couple. Gay marriage isn 't hurting anyone else. It 's providing happiness for two people who are in love with each other. After all, that 's what marriage is about; love and care for one
Girgis, George, & Anderson (2011) define marriage as the union of a man and a woman who make a permanent and exclusive commitment to each other of the type that is naturally (inherently) fulfilled by bearing and rearing children together. These marriages are intended to last eternity and are partially accomplished by raising children together, yet four of every ten marriages lead to divorce and of these divorces, 35% involve children (Ambert, 2009). Children tend to blame themselves for the divorce and are usually caught in the crossfire. These divorces lead to both stress and depression for children and without a strong sense of family, children will have a huge disadvantage over children with a stable healthy family (Arreola, Hartounian, Kurges, Maultasch, & Retana, 2013). Without the ability to cope with the stress of a divorce, children can be effected in multiple ways including a change in mentality, unacceptable behavioural traits and both short and long term emotional factors that will ultimately lead to a critical issue in child development.
Marriage is termed as a legitimate commitment or social establishment which unites two people mutually as husband and wife. The agreement ascertains privileges and responsibilities amid spouses, spouses and children and spouses and in-laws. Marriage is deemed to be a momentous union in every society. It is significant in terms of providing security, emotional support and fulfilling economic, social, cultural and physical needs. These needs are the natural cravings of young adults that drive them towards matrimony. It is a foundation that is based on personal responsibilities which form the backbone of civilizations.
Divorce, in history, has always been considered as a deviance of society. However, in the modern world, where people have senses of individualism, divorce has become a phenomenon. There are numerous reasons for divorce, from not knowing each other well enough before marriage, lack of money, long distance relationships, frequent disagreements to partners...
Many people main life dream is to marry the person they have fall in love with someday. However, most of the time, this dream can be shattered. When the expectations they have for the relationship are not met, the marriage starting to fail and the end result can be devastating. When two people make a commitment to live with each order happily ever after, the worst thing that can happen is to deal with divorce. Therefore, there could be numerous factors or causes contributing to the end of a matrimonial union between two persons, such as lack of communication, infidelity and financial issues.
There was a time, in a traditional wedding, the couple repeated the phrase, “till death do us part,” and it meant that only the death of one or the other would end the marriage. Some get married on a whim with no regard to the commitment made before God, family and friends. Troubles hit the marriage and the only route of defense is the divorce court. Still others may have courted for a while, spend a small fortune on the perfect wedding and still end in divorce. According to Dana Krupinsky his article, Divorce in America – Why?, people want only what is good for themselves, even if it is not the best for someone else. Some have the attitude, "If the marriage doesn't work, I can get a divorce.” Making a marriage work is much harder that filling out paperwork.
The way society views same sex marriage can change. Throughout history, many beliefs have changed. In the past, black people were not considered as citizens in the constitution. It is not until the thirteenth amendment in 1865 that slavery was banned. Women were not considered equal to men and were not given the right to vote until 1920 when congress passed the fourteenth amendment. It takes time but opinions and beliefs can change and the past has shown us that is indeed possible! Same sex marriage are nothing more than the union of two humans being that care, love, and want to make commitments to each other. That commitment can not be recognized unless same sex marriage is legalized.
On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same-sex couples to marry. Should gay marriages be legal? Clearly we as a nation are undecided on this issue. Thirty-six states have passed legislation banning gay marriages, yet a few states have passed laws that allows homosexual couples the right to participate in civil unions. Several other states are also debating whether or not to allow these couples to marry. Unfortunately, the dispute has left the United States' homosexual community in an awkward position. There are some people who think that gay people have no rights and should never be allowed to marry, and others believe that gay people should enjoy the same rights and privileges as heterosexuals. I think that the United States should allow same-sex couples to marry just like heterosexual couples.
From the past to present, people all over the world have determined to live together, which is called “get marriage” in another word, so that they depend on for living each other. Nevertheless, some couples are unable to maintain their relationship; therefore they choose divorce, which is one of the solutions to cope with problems between husband and wife. Furthermore, most people think carefully before they get marriage. However, the divorce rates trend to continually increase nowadays, thus it might be argued that divorces can be taken place easier than the past. There are three main causes of divorce: changing woman’s roles, stress in modern living and lack of communication, which are highlighted below.
