All right. Here's yet another story about my lawnmower that, some might say, proves that I am not the most mechanically inclined individual that ever breathed air. That's a given. I'm not, and I know I'm not. In fact, I know so little about mechanical things that I don't even know enough to know how much I don't know. Honestly. I put the key in the ignition of my car and turn it. If the car doesn't start, it's broke. Simple as that. I'm not saying that I'm an idiot. I'm not. In fact, I'm really intelligent and knowledgeable...on selected topics. Ask me to write a story. No problem. Want me to give a business presentation in front of 500 people? Okay. Can I expound upon the genius and glories of Shakespeare? In my sleep! You'd like to …show more content…

Someone comes into the store to buy a new lawn mower after the one they have had for 10 years or more has finally died. They come in thinking there will only be 2 to choose from, cheap and cheaper. After seeing the many models available, the cheapest one priced way higher than they expected, they leave glassy-eyed and confused. I would like to share what I have learned, as a seller, to help make your buying experience easier. Investing a bit of time before you actually go shopping can help keep you from being overwhelmed. I was taught while growing up that most decisions in life involve trade offs. Choosing a lawn mower certainly falls into this category. Lets take a look at some important considerations. Your Yard 1. How big is it? Do you have many trees? You don't have to have exact measurements but, it helps to know roughly how much area you are looking to keep mown. This will help determine what size mower you need. The wider the cut the faster you will get done in most cases. Even if you have all the time in the world remember this. Engineers design these machines to last x number of hours, if it takes you fewer hours to mow your lawn your mower will give you more mowings. More mowings = more years before you have to make this decision again. If you have many trees or odd-shaped flower beds they can be hard to maneuver around. You might want to consider a zero turn mower. While they are not for everyone, they do have their benefits. 2.

The short story, “Flowers for Algernon,” by Daniel Keyes, is about a man named Charlie, an intellectually disabled man, who is trying to be smart by going through a surgery. He was so talented, that with just a three year apprenticeship he was able to gain so much knowledge and start his own blacksmith company in 1825. No one person or corporation is attributed with creating the lawn trimmer however the original lawn trimmers where developed from1968 to 1970. Prior to 1970, there were no line trimmers, as we know them today. Can you imagine edging sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and shrub beds with hand-held trimmers? Can you imagine how sore your back, arms and legs would be after a long day of pushing a manual edger along seemingly endless sidewalks and driveways? Can you imagine trimming any turf at all without a powered trimmer? Many of us take the advantages the line trimmer gives us for granted.

A few decades ago, the dream of nearly every American was to one day own a car. In present age, this dream has become a reality for the majority of the population. A 2001 report released by the Energy Information Administration showed that on average America alone has approximately 1.79 cars per household ("Household vehicles energy," 2005).With all of the luxuries and technologies that are made available for Americans, the United States has proven that they are one of the most advanced nations in the world. Now ask yourself: What would America be like without the advanced technology that it has today? Culture and life would be much more different and complicated for nearly every human being. In addition, some of today’s most important jobs wouldn‘t exist. Obviously, at one point in history this was the case and construction of every sort was carried out with hand tools and nothing else. This all changed during the Industrial Age when human-operated machines helped replace the handwork of craftspeople. Today this is known as mechanization. It was not until the nineteenth century that Americans took it a step further and automation was born. Automation is automatic operation and control of machinery that can carry out decisions without human intervention (Plotkin, 2009). As it is to expect, automation has its conveniences and its downfalls. This form of manufacturing can result in employment problems for society because human labor is not required. However, with the replacement of human workers by technology, higher quality products can be made at a cheaper cost ("Automation," 2010). Therefore, when balancing the positive and negative factors of automation, it is clear to see that it has a beneficial impact on American society.

So, he used different rhetorically effective approaches like metaphors, contrasts to illustrate how self-driving can make commutes safe, and be usable for a versatile group of people. Moreover, people like me majoring in technical field do not take subjects like English seriously, as they won’t directly get involved in the fields of English in the future. But, what I have learnt from this talk is that, English as a subject if taken seriously can change the
