It all started when I discovered her artwork at the age of 12. Laurie Anderson is an exceptional artist. I just recently broadened my research and discovered that she is a broad ranged artist. These articles gave me a better base of knowledge on Laurie and it gave me a little bit of influence to research her more in-depth. Anderson, does not just stick to one art medium. This woman can be seen in a few movies as well as television shows. She is also an artist, a music composer, and a film director. These combined make this artist truly amazing. She Attended Bloomfield High school and also, studied in a program from Field Beauty Culture School, located in Montreal. These schools were one of the only academies that accepted black students. After she graduated, she promoted and sold her products because she wanted expanded her business;she also sold many of her products to her graduates. Cindy Sherman was born January 19, 1954, in New Jersey. In 1977, Cindy began working on "Complete Untitled Film Stills," a series of 69 photographs. Cindy is known for her black and white photographs challenged cultural stereotypes (Heller). Sherman used color film and large prints, and focused more on lighting and facial expression. Cindy returned to ironic commentary in the early 1990s, directing the dark comedy “Office Killer” in 1997 (Sherman). Frida Kahlo was, and still is, often referred to as one of the most influential women in the art scene. However, to me she is more than just a painter. She is someone I can relate to and who greatly inspires me. The way she was unapologetic when it came to her heritage and how she had refused to allow personal tragedy to keep her down is what really makes me look up to her. Those reasons are what really drew me in and made me want to learn more about her. Since first learning of her in eighth grade and about her experiences, I have started to try hard to embody these specific aspects throughout my everyday life.
