It is Friday 2 AM and I am up still packing for my flight to Las Vegas departing at 5:10 AM. I finally tuck all my shoes, clothes and hair products into my two suit cases and I am praying they are not over the 50 lb limit. I lay down for what seems to be two seconds and the next thing I know I am en route to the airport. My group and I rush to the check in counter, we check our bags and a slight nervous feeling comes over me as they weigh my bag, 5 lbs under the limit, I am good! We speed off to security check and happy to see there is no line, what do you expect when your flying so early in the morning. We finally hear the announcement over the intercom, Flight 17 to Las Vegas now boarding. With everyone all accounted for we are off …show more content…
the ground in no time, I think the pilot knows how excited I am to be in Vegas.
I close my eyes and I hear “we are making our final departure to Las Vegas”, I fix my seat and prepare for landing.
I can see the eagerness with all the passengers ready to lose some money on their favorite game to gamble. The line on the skywalk is getting smaller and smaller as passengers move briskly about to claim their luggage as quickly as possible. My entire group meets up at the first restroom; everyone is eager to head out but needs a little time to relieve themselves. As I come out I see the 2nd $20 bill go into a nearby machine that my friend Laura was trying her best to beat. She loses and quickly we head down the walkways to see the famous Las Vegas strip far off in the distance. While walking we hear the constant taunting of the machines and specifically my favorite machine, Wheel of Fortune, as the machine screams out “WHEEL OF FORTUNE”! These Wheel of Fortune machines seem to almost be calling my name as I pass by we find our bags and quickly exit the airport doors to begin our exciting weekend in sin city. With hoards of people and luggage all along the road there are lines of taxis and limos lined up to zip passengers off in a jiffy. My group decides on a limo, we load up and head out to the Linq Hotel
and Casino for my first time staying there. After a little stop by the local store to stock up on our favorite adult beverages we finally arrive at our home for the next 4 days. Quickly we check into our hotel and were off to the rooms to change. The rooms were very clean but smaller than any other hotel I have ever stayed in. We all change and start to explore the hotel. After a quick walk around there is so much in such a small place it was definitely going to take a few hours to explore everything but we were up for the challenge. We headed over to the Cromwell hotel to gamble, I quick lose forty dollars and my friend Laura put twenty dollars in and wins four hundred! We all get excited and shout; she continues to gamble and loses it all in about 10 minutes. We tried a few more casinos we won and lost as well but it was fun. We realize it is now 8:30 PM and we have not had a bite to eat, so we head to the Mirage to eat at Cravings buffet. As we are there we eat have a few drinks and talk about what we are doing next. We decide to out back to the hotel to get dress to go out to the club and the High Roller; which we all have groupons for two for one open bar. While we are all getting dress it takes us about an hour to do our hair and decide what we are going to wear, we finally head down to the lobby to meet up with the others. As we start walking towards the entrance to the High Roller a few of us start to get nervous and have second thoughts.
The city I chose was Las Vegas, NV that ranks 298 on the Building Resilient Regions website. The Spanish named this huge valley that was full of wild grass and minerals “The Meadows” that then translated into Las Vegas. Now, Las Vegas is very different among U.S cities for it is famous for the luxury casinos and the shows. It has the title of being the “Entertainment Capital of the World” and is very prosperous in cultivating a diversified economy. I chose this city because it is a city that truly never sleeps and always has some sort of resource going in or out. Another reason why I chose Las Vegas is because it is one of the strongest economic cities in the United States and certainly takes up a lot of resources to fuel this never stopping city. I was very interested in researching to see why Las Vegas wasn’t resilient and what could be improved.
I wonder if I should I start calling Las Vegas, Nevada home now. I’ve traveled back and forth from California to Las Vegas since I was a child. I can remember at the age of thirteen my family and I would take family weekend trips very often. By the age of seventeen I was forced to move to Vegas for 6 months right before my senior year of high school started. Since it was my last year of high school my parents decided to let me go back to California for the last three months and graduate with my friends. Since I wasn’t eighteen yet, I forced to go back to Las Vegas right the day after graduation.
Viva Las Vegas: Most Unique City in America (Lights, Camera, & Casino Action!) Las Vegas is one of the interesting cities that I have ever visited in the entire world because it is a microcosm of the whole United States. Not only are there people visiting from all 50 states but people from all over the world as well, therefore, you will meet the most unique characters that you have ever met in your life. I arrived in Las Vegas October, 2009, a long time ago, but I’m sure the energy of the city has not changed. Most people find themselves entering Vegas through the McCarran International Airport that has digital slot machines posted everywhere from the moment you depart the plane.
After I observed four different boarding lines, I soon realized how impatient our society reacts to situations. As soon as the airline attendants announced the boarding for a certain flight, it seemed as if everybody rushed to the...
Las Vegas also it is familiar as “Sin City,” is one of the most famous tourist place in the world. It is an incredible place in the middle of dessert, it is a city established from nothing to something great. Vegas has developed in tourism and population as well to become beyond universal. Las Vegas has ranked the fastest-growing state, according to the Las Vegas review journal, “Nevada ranked as the nation’s two fastest-growing states over the past year, according to U.S. Census Bureau population estimates for 2016 released Tuesday.” Las Vegas is known as a gambling city, nightclubs and casinos. Gambling plays a big role in many Nevadans Lifestyles. This is such a problem that should be considered. In this essay I will discuss about how gambling has a big effect on Nevadans lifestyle, plus how to avoid being addictive to gambling. In Las Vegas there are stereotypes of gambling, such as Lottery, slot machines, cards, and many others. But in this essay I will only discuss on slot machines.
Flight 673 is now boarding.” A Spirit employee calls hours after the original flight time. Getting in the designated line with 151 people who have inhabited the airport for hours, they start to board the plane. At the front of the line, the Spirit employee takes the plane ticket and scans in before allowing the passenger to pass through and onto the plane. As soon as they step foot on the plane, they are welcomed by a flight attendant and set out on a search for their seat. Once locating their seat, the passenger shimmies their way in, their behinds or fronts in other passengers faces. Arm rest close to their sides and feet shoved half way under the seat in front of them, the passenger attempts to get as comfortable as possible. After everyone has boarded, the flight attendant begins to give the mandatory instructions, speaking at a million words per minute as all the passengers just nod and pray their plane makes it to their destination safely. The flight attendants begin to come around and ask if anyone would like anything, once the plane settles in the air. Picking up the menu, the passengers will see that all cool beverages, including water, sell for three dollars and snacks ranging anywhere from two to four dollars. Noticing the “Value Meal” deals, they debate the worthiness of purchasing more to save up to four dollars at most. Their stomach roaring like thunder, they decide to order a lightly salted snack and cup sweating beverage.
Immanuel Kant was a moral philosopher. His theory, better known as deontological theory, holds that intent, reason, rationality, and good will are motivating factors in the ethical decision making process. The purpose of this paper is to describe and explain major elements of his theory, its essential points, how it is used in the decision making process, and how it intersects with the teams values.
Today was the day, the day that my parents and my little sister and I were going to go to Cancun, Mexico. Our flight left at 5:00 am, so we woke up bright and early at 2:00 am. We needed to be there 2 hours earlier and we still had to put our luggage in the car and drive there. We arrive at the Park and Go. We pay them and we get on the shuttle to take us to the airport. We get through security and go to a little cafe. My parents get some coffee and my sister and I get a bagel with cream cheese. “We have to go to gate 12A,” I told them.
So I went to Las Vegas with my toddler Spanish and came back a boy! There was not many Spanish speaking people when I went. I was a bit of a creeper listening to random conversations wearing my cheap sunglasses. I would try my best to find the verb, subject, and object they were talking about. Basic words like sed, hambre, mira, mi, tu were common. Sometimes I would recognize the verb but could not figure out the verb ending kind of like trabajarldfkjsdpsb. I was asked a few times if I spoke Spanish and I always replied with “Hablo un poco”. They would then send a flurry of words in my direction as I stood hopeless trying to understand. Occationally I would muster up the courage to order in Spanish or to say anything in Espanol. It was incredibly
As stated above, Las Vegas truly understands the needs of its tourist and natives. As a native of Vegas I can just only image the everyday excitement. I’ve always wondered, is Las Veg,as, a place to raise a family? Is Las Vegas, a place to have a wife? Its sounds crazy, but there are so much going in Las Vegas it's pretty easy to get all screwed up. In fact, in a trending article it states that marriage has dropped in Las Vegas. There are two perspectives to this story. Some will say it's because of the “fast life” and tempting things, others as in the article will say it has to do with the correlation of having a degree and certain motives with your significant others. I believe both perspectives can be true. For exam=ple, there are just so

The stewardess then directed me towards the back, away from the cockpit. I looked at my ticket and at what seat I'd be sitting in. I had to duck in and around people putting their luggage into the upper compartments and look for my number on the back of my seat that matched my ticket stamp. As I walked past one of the windows, I glanced out and saw the right wing. It somehow gave me reassurance that I'd be fine and I'd soon be having the time of my life. "I'll soon be in the air."
I stood there, trying not to tremble. I anxiously counted the people in front of me and realized that after this next cart it would be my turn. The people ahead loaded up, the ride workers checked the lap bars, and then off they went, heading up the hill. Everyone in line, including myself, moved up to fill up the void left by the people who had just loaded on. I must have been shaking a bit because my sister who was behind me tried to calm me down.
Trying to get my destination at the same time as all the other people at the airport. Then going through the check points. Next waiting on the plane to arrive so that we can board the plane. Then the four hour flight to Mexico. It turned out to be a great experience for me and I would love to go on another plane ride soon but this time I know what do and what to
I think we all have a beautiful place in our mind. I have a wonderful place that made me happy a lot of times, years ago. But sometimes I think that I am the only person who likes this place and I'm asking myself if this place will be as beautiful as I thought when I will go back to visit it again. Perhaps I made it beautiful in my mind.
