The AMGEN Summer Scholars research experience will contribute to my plans to become a M.D./Ph.D. candidate, and ultimately an Oncologist, by helping me develop critical and independent thinking as well as creative skills as they relate to the field of medicine. It will also help me develop a more thorough understanding of biological concepts, how they directly apply to medical treatment, and the ways in which biotechnology fuses multiple fields of science to create technologies to care for others. The opportunity to assist in creation of the technologies that will be used on my future patients will ultimately improve my ability to treat their illnesses in adaptive ways. The opportunity I would have to read, interpret, and be a part of creating

I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
The computer obsession began when the first computer was built in 1939. There are many uses of a computer like the proper way and the negative way. The way Annalee Newitz uses her computer is good and bad. The definition of a good teaching tool is the best way to teach a class or something that is taught. Using a good teaching tool is not always easy. There are many things about computers who make people depend or use too much to stop depending on technology.
I have desired to be in the medical field since my freshman year of school. Like a classic stereotype I wanted to go into the medical field after watching too much television, in particular Grey’s Anatomy. It was not the drama or love affairs that drew me into the profession but the adrenaline on a surgery coming in. The skills which they possessed to save a person’s life, and the relief of the family when the doctor was able to tell them that their loved one was going to be alright. Yes, I do aspire to go into surgery, specializing in either trauma or general. This goal is achievable, but it will take many years in college and medical school then residency. “No Laptops, please” by Robert McClellan discussed his views on laptop use in college classrooms. He believes that laptops should be banned in the classroom setting. He then goes into depth on how laptops can be a distraction to others. Also he mentions how laptops can cause a disconnect between him and his students. Following such he addresses how students can miss important information, by typing notes on a computer. Which then lead to him raising the question of whether they were actually taking notes, or not. I think that laptops should be banned in college classrooms as well, because they can easily attract the eyes of others, allow for students to lose focus and create a division between the class and the professor.
My future career plans is to become an optometrist. Since I have terrible vision, I have visited the optometrist multiple times, therefore gaining a certain respect and appreciation for the career. During the fall semester of my senior year, I interned at a local optometrist’s office to gain experience in the field. The experience, opened my eyes to how much I want to be an optometrist, especially one who owns their own practice. I know the road to becoming an optometrist is not easy. It requires multiple years of education, consisting of stress, hard work, and persistence. This scholarship will help me cover the cost of one year of my college education and that will relieve an immense amount of stress that has been plaguing me ever since I have started to think about college. It will give me the ability to focus solely on academia and pave the road for the starting of my
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
...r. With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious working corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I would be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself obtain our ultimate goals for the near future. Thank You so much for this opportunity to compose this essay to you about my experiences in the academic arena and why I am deserving of this course. I am most deserving of this opportunity and I wish you and your organization much success for endowing me with this opportunity to be a candidate for your scholarship.

Any student has their specific reasons or motives to apply for scholarships in order to pursue a higher education or career. As for myself, I have overcome various struggles and obstacles throughout my high school years simply because I am a migrant student who has obligations of labor and dreams of having a successful career. Any scholarship or grant is a great opportunity for hard working students by benefitting them financially and mentally. Therefore, this scholarship will aid me in my first years at Valdosta State University by allowing me to focus studying and excelling on my tasks instead of working on part-time jobs and borrowing loans with absurd interests. My planned dental career may be lifelong, so it is important for me to climb
