The “Lamb to the Slaughter” is about a women named Mary Maloney who murdered her husband who said he was leaving her. It started when Mary Maloney welcomed her husband home back from work. Mr. Maloney was tired and didn’t want anything to eat. One of the reasons why Mr. Maloney refused to eat dinner was that they had to go eat out because they go out and eat every Thursday. But Mrs. Maloney said that it was still not too late to make dinner. But he still refused. Few minutes later Mr. Maloney told Mrs. Maloney he had to tell her something very important. That was when he had told her that he was leaving her. She was very shocked about it . When she woke up from that news said told him “ I’ll get the supper.” When she was getting supper she didn’t fell anything at all except a slight nasusea and a feeling to

vomit. She when she went to the cellar she saw something wrapped in paper, so she ripped of the paper and looked at it again, a leg of lamb.

Then she said to herself “ All right then, he would have lamb for supper.” Then she went upstairs and hit her husband in the back of the head with the lamb leg. After that she went to the store and acted like nothing happended. When she went to the grocer, she told him that she was buying edibles for her husband. After coming home she called the police and said that her husband, Patrick is dead. At first the cops were confused then they understood and came right away. Two policemen walked in. One of the officers discovered a small patch of congealed blood on the head of the victim. Then the officer called more people to help with the investagation. A doctor, two detectives, and a man who knew about fingerprints. After a while, the doctor went home and two other men in and took the body away on a stretcher. After that the fingerprint man departed. The two detectives remained, alongside two policeman. The detictives went up to Mrs. Maloney and told her that her husband with a heavy blunt insturment, almost like a large piece of

metal. When Mrs. Maloney was sitting on a chair one of the detictives told her that the insturement that took her husbands life away must be somewhere in the premises. Few moments later one of the officers told her that something is cooking in her over, then she told them it was lamb. So she asked them to to a favour. She asked to to eat the lamb. The officers hestated at first then gave in. They ate the lamb and disscussed the murder while eating. But in the other room, Mrs. Maloney started to laugh. The protagonist of the story is Mrs. Maloney. The antagonist is Mr. Maloney and the officer. The setting took place at the Maloney’s House. The internal conflict was when she was angry that Mr. Maloney was leaving her. The external conflict is when she killed Mr. Maloney, and convince the cops that she didn’t do it. The climax of the story was when Mrs. Maloney offered the officer the lambs legs that she killed her husband with. The author’s theme was the truth can’t be hidden for ever. The symbolism was when the officer’s were eating the lamb symbolized the women getting away with the murder. The foreshadowing was the husband told the wife bad news also the killing of the husband is the foreshadowing. The irony was when the officers were eating the thing they were looking for. Overall Mrs. Maloney feels like she got away with the murder.
