Almost everybody has dealt with somebody who tries to control everything and manipulate the people around them. In William Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth”, Macbeth deals with somebody who manipulates him into killing Duncan, the soon to be king. That person is Lady Macbeth, a manipulative but ambitious women. Throughout the whole play, Lady Macbeth holds the most power to influence the actions of Macbeth.
Lady Macbeth persuades Macbeth to murder Duncan. At first, Macbeth wasn’t too sure about that idea. Macbeth speaks, “We will proceed no further in this business” (I. iiiiiii.32). Murder says, “My lord, his throat is cut”(III. iiii. 14). Macbeth is
sitting at a table with other people and a murderer come in and pulls Macbeth out into the hall and tell him that Banquo is dead. Macbeth hired that murderer to kill Banquo because he heard from the witches that Banquo may take over the Kingdom. Because of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth killed Banquo because she messed up Macbeth’s mind when she persuaded him to kill Duncan.
Some people might say that the witches have the most power influenced on Macbeth because they know what is to come for Macbeth so Macbeth wants to know everything and that causes him to kill Banquo and Macduff’s family. As Macbeth says, “Thou art too like the spirit of Banquo. Down! Thy crown does sear mine eyeballs. And thy hair, thou other gold-bound brow, is like the first”(IV.i.12-14). Macbeth realizes that Banquo’s family would be king for generations. He sees kings that look like Banquo. However, the witches cannot have the most influence on Macbeth because if Lady Macbeth wasn’t around then Duncan would have never been killed because Lady Macbeth wasn’t there to get Macbeth to murder him.
