In order to fulfill the LHS requirements for community service, I served my 40 hours in an elementary school. There I assisted kids with their work and had the privilege to get to meet every single individual. I interacted more with the teacher and helped her out with the kids who needed that extra help with either their reading or other classwork they have not accomplished. It was exciting and educational because I got to learn new things everytime I went. There were times where I gave my full attention to just that one kid who was really struggling to catch up to his other classmates. Yes, at times it was difficult to get certain kid’s attention but t the end of the day I accomplished my goal and felt proud of myself As a result, this has
Over the years I have been very involved in my community and school. Being a part of something helps to define who you are as a person and the principles and values you hold as important. A personal experience that helps to show my talents and skills can be illustrated by my trip to Italy last April with the MHS Language Department.
Over the summer, I completed my community service hours at Ohio Valley Medical Center. At the beginning, I was afraid of whether I would like it but after my first day there I could not wait to go back the following week. It gave me some experience in the hospital since I want to work in the Intensive Care Unit when I am older. I met so many volunteers, new and old, that taught me a lot about volunteering and the hospital. I would not give up my summer involvement at the hospital for anything.
Community service is something that I have always engaged. In college, I worked with chemically dependent children as both a caretaker and a mentor. After I graduated, I taught at-risk children in a community youth outreach program. To remain involved and aware of the focus of my studies during my first year of law school, I volunteered at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center teaching youth their basic legal rights. Essentially, we strove to empower kids by providing practical information about the legal system and to help them develop more favora...
Community service means to me “service before self”. This phrase has been engraved in my heart since I was a young girl. Since I was born, both of my parents have worked in the same nursing home. I was always in and out whether it was because we didn't have a babysitter that day or I just wanted to play with the facility cat. As I began growing older the in’s and out’s became hours of sitting in my mom’s office helping her file papers or with my dad running around the facility delivering toothbrushes and lotions to rooms. Summers became volunteering in the Activities Department, interacting with the elderly through crafts, painting nails, board games or just chatting away. I realized that these simplest of acts brought happiness to them, it was incredible. I realized what a difference I could make, even if it was small. These moments so early in my life are why I believe I'm so devoted and truly passionate about community service. Since, then I have done everything to immerse myself in my community and school. From volunteering at my local hospital, food bank and soup kitchen, to fundraising for polio, or traveling to Baja California with my club to start recycling and water filter programs. I have found my purpose in
What I once thought was an impossible job, organizing so many books, people helped me understand the work process which made me gain self-confidence that I was able to produce in my work. Part of that confidence was also a sense of pride because I was responsible for placing books onto the shelves that many people come to read. Now that I have done my volunteer work, when I apply for scholarships and colleges, I can mention my volunteer experience and the hours I did. Although many students would rather spend four hours of their lives doing something else, those who do community service work will learn to use important characteristics such as, confidence, sense of responsibility, and scholarships, that will help them be successful not only in school, but also in future careers and
Tutoring kids is one type of community service. I can say from experience teaching kids to learn is a great feeling. I know because I’ve been tutoring kids for almost seven months. You’ll be surprised how it makes you feel. To have one of your students’ parents thank you because there child has never been able to make an “A” in there reading or math class. Just hearing those words lets me know that I am already making a difference. The place that I volunteer at is Casa De Amigos and the children that go there really look up to you. Yes you’re helping them to be able to reach their goals but you’re also teaching them that helping the community can change so many lives.
When students are doing community service, they are doing a lot of hard work. If they chose to complete hours dealing with something they might want to major in, in college, it will show the student what it will be like. It will show the student if that particular job is going to be suitable for them. It will also show the student how much and what to prepare for. There are a thousand jobs to choose from. If you complete community service hours, you get a chance to see the different options to choose from. If you think you find a career you might want to work in, you get to see if the job is really a good choice for you. It shows you if it will be too hard or even not challenging enough. You might change your mind after completing your hours. If you go to the right place to complete your hours, you might even find the job you will want to do forever. Also, if you really strive at the tasks you will be assigned, you could even be putting your name into the work field for someone hiring to

Though, the concept of community service is not very new its importance has developed in the past few years. There are thousands of organizations all over the world that engage and hold millions of young people all through the world. People of all age groups, with a maximum number of youth are involved in the process of community service. Community-based organizations include; social service organizations, non-profit providers and associations that engage both young people as well adults as volunteers. The process is beneficial both for the individuals as well as the society. Without community service people would not know the meaning of charity and giving back. Community service can be defined as a service that is performed for the benefit of the public. Community service is not a responsibly or an obligation; it is a commitment. A person must want to do it with good intentions and not because they are being forced to do so. Basically, community service is a way for a person to give back to a community in which they live.
Community service has taught me all kinds of skills and increased my confidence. You go out there and think on your feet, work with others and create something from nothing that’s what life’s is all about. The community service that I did is YWCA Daycare. I chose that because I like kids also it makes me a responsible person. Like playing with children and making them laugh because I have a little sister whos 4months and I love spending time with her. My expectation before doing the service were that I wasn’t sure where I was going to do them I went to libraries but, they never called me and that got me worried. I tried not to get worried I was confident that I will find a place where they will accept me. I was calling to different body shops
The hours I completed serving my community were ones well-spent. It was extremely satisfying to perform good deeds that help our neighborhood thrive. These duties gave me insight on what community service really is. Community service allows you to provide aid and nurture your neighborhood and community. From picking up trash on trails to reading to children with disabilities, I was able to execute a variety of different service-learning projects.
Community service is an invaluable experience that everybody should have. Through community service you can help yourself by helping others. You learn your strengths and weaknesses, on top of everything you learn about others and the world. Through my sixty hours of service with Colleges Against Cancer, I have learned a lot.
The thought of community service was a bore to me before I began my volunteer work. I dreaded starting my community service although I knew I had to do it. Where I earned my hours did not even matter to me. I just wanted to get it over with. To my surprise it was not what I expected. Community service was not a painful experience; it was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience.
The thought of community service was boring to me before I began my volunteer work. I was fearful starting my community service although I knew I had to do it. I used to do community service with a group of friends in high school, I was afraid here because it was my first time working alone. I was scared of not being able to make any friends because socializing with other people is my weakness, although I can understand and speak a little Bahasa Indonesia. Where I earned my hours did not even matter to me. I just wanted to get it done. To my surprise it was not what I expected. Community service was not a painful experience; it was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience. On the 7th of September 2017 (Thursday), I worked at the Central Lab
