LGBT Rights- Republicans support natural marriage, the union of one man and one woman. Democrats support LGBT rights. They feel that they are like all other Americans that have the right to marry the person they love. Healthcare- Republicans don’t agree with Obamacare. Insurance Premiums and deductibles have increased drastically. Democrats believe that health care is a right, not a privilege, and our health care system should put people before profits. Abortion- Republican oppose school-based clinic that provide info for abortion and contraception. Abortions endangers the health of well being women and the stand firmly against it. Democrat protects woman’s right to safe and legal abortions. Firearms- Republican support constitutional carry
rights. Law-abiding Americans should be able to carry firearms to protect themselves in all 50 states. Democrats feel we should act to address gun violence by strengthening background checks and closing loopholes in the laws. I agree with the Democrats views from the topics I chose. LGBT rights everyone should be able to love who they love and marry who they marry. It shouldn’t be based off a person’s sex. I have gay and lesbians in my family. I don’t love them any more or any less. Healthcare I saw first hand how people are treated if they don’t have good private insurance. My aunt was suffering from Stage 4 cancer. She was denied services and medicine that probably could’ve saved her life if she didn’t have insurance from the government. Abortions I agree with the Democrats on this topic only because I feel like if a person was raped and wanted to have an abortion. Then she should be able to. This is the only reason I support abortions. Democrats aren’t trying to take away gun rights for law-abiding citizens. They are trying to make the process a little more stricter and fix the issue in the laws that already exist. I agree because there are too many case of gun violence. People are getting their hands-on guns somehow if we had stricter rules then this would cut back on some of the violence. I know an MHMR patient I would not think it would be acceptable for them to have a firearm because they have mental issues. My sister is MHMR she looks and acts normal for the most part but she has issues and doesn’t need to have firearms. Because she can pass a background check she was able to get several registered firearms.
As stated above, the party’s doctrine was based on more than three ideologies. The Democratic-Republicans called for extensive radicalism and nationalism. They dreamt about the country made of people with radical views who knew their rights. Their procedures are very democratic, fair, and transparent.
The education in the United States is the second difference between Republic Party and Democrat Party. On Republic Party’s platform, republicans fight for school choice. They would like to have several school systems, such as home-schooling, private or parochial schools. Moreover, they encourage teaching the Bible as an elective in public schools. On the other hand, on Democrat Party, most parents are silent for school choice for their children. The public school system is an anchor for all
As I mentioned earlier, I am indecisive to being Republican or Democrat, because there are some things that I support and some things I do not support on both sides. These things include abortion rights, death penalty, gun control, education, and welfare. For rights on abortion, the Democratic Party favors it while the Republican Party opposes it. I favor the Democrats Party on abortion rights. According to the article, “Conservative vs. Liberal Beliefs”, “A woman has the right to decide what happens with her body… The decision to have an abortion is a personal choice of a woman regarding her own body and the government must protect this right”. In my opinion certain situations such as rape could cause a woman to become pregnant and to have an abortion, and I believe that it is the women’s decision to either keep the baby or not. As for the death penalty, the Democratic Party opposes ...
Energy and environmental issues are also another topic that both parties disagree on. Democrats support drilling for fossil fuels which is better for the environment. Republicans believe in expanded drilling which creates more energy at a cheaper cost. Democrats are advocates for using tax money to research solutions for alternative energy and Republicans just want to let the industry itself figure out the most practical solutions
benefits to help the middle and low class. ObamaCare is an example of republicanism because
"You robbed me of something very precious and I will never forgive you for that. Mr. McKinney, I give you life in the memory of one who no longer lives. May you have a long life and may you thank Matthew every day for it." Those were the words said by Dennis Shepard at the sentencing of Aaron McKinney, one of the men who tortured, robbed, and murdered his son Matthew Shepard. He was given a life sentence. States must inflict a harsher punishment for people who commit gay violence crimes because over the years hate crimes based on sexual orientation have become the third highest category reported.
Economics is the study of currency and how it is made and distributed through our economy. Taxation is one of those main issues in this category. The Democrats and Republicans both consider taxation a major issue but both have different ways they are trying to deal with the problem. The Democrats believe that extending tax cuts to the middle class families of America that make less than 250,000$ a year while raising taxes on the extremely wealthy and huge corporations to help parents pay for college (“Democrats Unveil”). While the Republican Party says it would “try to eliminate taxes on interest, dividends and capital gains altogether for lower and middle-income taxpayers also would work to repeal the estate tax and the alternative minimum tax” (“Democrats Unveil”). They both want to change the tax policy to try to help pay off our debt and or help Americans to live an easier life. Another Key issue in this category is Medicare. Both parties believe that the Medicare policy should be changed. "Democrats adamantly oppose any efforts to privatize or voucherize Medicare" when the Republicans pledge...
“Do you know what the Gays did to me now? They took away my right to vote!”
• A Democratic-Republican opposes a strong central government with most power assigned to the states, Alexander Hamilton's economic policies, advocates a liberal agrarian democracy, a foreign policy favoring the French Revolution while also appealing to poor townsfolk.
One of the major issues in the cultural war is the idea of abortion. The Republican Party supports the human life amendment while opposing abortion funding. They “assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed [upon]” (Republican Party Platform ). The Republican Party also strongly promotes adoption and abstinence, while wanting to ban abortion with a Constitutional amendment.... ...
Therefore, there are many places one can stand on any given issue. Health care is one of those issues where the political spectrum overlaps. Both sides want the same outcome: a healthy and happy society. However, the ways they want to accomplish this vary greatly. Republicans are staunchly against government-organized healthcare.
Humans have established their own rights in society for many, many years now. However, because some humans differ from the norms that are built in society, they are shunned and denied their rights until they conform to society’s norms. There has been numerous groups of people who have been denied their rights in America. African Americans, immigrants, Native Americans, and gays have been isolated simply because that is the way that they were born into this world and others do not find them “normal”. There is another group that has also been mistreated though; people who identify themselves as transgendered. A good portion of society is unknowingly misinformed about these kinds of people.
Famous children’s author Dr. Seuss once said, “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind". Gay rights, at the moment, are one of the most publicized and well known controversial subjects of this decade. The sides clearly drawn one fighting for rights as simple as being married the other stating that it defames their religion and goes against the definition of marriage, being between a man and a woman. The individuals who are fighting for their civil rights are fallowing the same path that African Americans and women have taken, but the change has started and in over 13 states gays have been given their basic rights and more state are joining in the fight both for and against the topic.
Historically, the Democratic and Republican parties have clear and opposing viewpoints. Quite simply, the Democrats whole-heartedly oppose change to a program initiated under Roosevelt's New Deal. The Republicans consider this social program contrary to capitalism. However, over time the Republicans learned that it's popularity with the voters has made this issue untouchable.
Can you imagine losing one’s rights just for being one’s self? The Gay Rights movement is slowly gaining the rights back for gay people. This movement started in the 1960’s and it is still going on today. The main leader of the Gay Rights movement is Harvey Milk; the main followers are the people of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community, also known as the LGBT community. Milk’s main purpose to do the speech was to explain how similar gay people are to everyone else and to get the rights back that were taken away from them. There are even a lot of people who are not a part of the LGBT community that are also followers of Harvey Milk and support gay rights. The main purpose for this movement is to give gay people the same rights as straight people. The literary piece, “The Hope Speech”, by Harvey Milk contains the themes: A gay person was elected, everyone needs hope, and that gay people have come a long way. The speech somewhat explains how many gay people are stereotyped. The gay rights movement is manifested in “The Hope Speech” by Harvey Milk.
