Harrison Bergeron
In the short story “Harrison Bergergon” by Kurt Vonnegut, Harrison Bergeron was an ambitious, unique, and naïve man. He believed he could overthrow the government which was run by Diana Moon Glampers. Her main goal was to make everyone feel as if they were equal. They made the gifted, strong, and beautiful people wear handicaps such as, earphones to blur their thoughts, heavy weights to slow them down and masks to hide their beauty. In a world where everyone is pushing for equality when does one person fight back and say enough is enough, complete equality is unjust.
In 2081, everyone in society was finally created equal, nobody was smarter or better looking due to the handicaps assigned to them by the Handicapper General Diana Moon Glampers. Harrison Bergeron was a young 14-year-old boy who lived at home with his parents Hazel and George. He was an ambitious young man who did not like how the world was being run and was removed from his home and placed in jail. On day on television, he was announced that he escaped from jail. “Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen has just escaped from jail, where he was held on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government.” It was believed he was trying to overthrow the government and felt if he was locked up he would not be a harm to society. …show more content…

“His appearance was Halloween and hardware, no one had ever born heavier handicaps”. His uniqueness stood out because he wore tremendous earphones, spectacles to make him half blind and give headaches. He wore scrap metal and carried three-hundred pounds. His teeth were covered in black caps and his eyebrows were shaved off. He was unique for his strength, good-looks, and intelligence. Harrison wore twice the weight than everybody else, he wore bigger earphones and bigger spectacles. No one was forced to wear what Harrison was forced to
