The UFO crashes in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 the beginning of the peoples search for extraterrestrials. It was also the start of people’s quest to expose military secrets, and also the beginning of the largest search so far for the answer to the biggest question of them all. Are we truly alone in the universe?
Almost everyone in the United States has heard about the small town of Roswell, New Mexico, primarily because of its connections with UFO’s. This crash site became one of the most credible and well known UFO crashes ever. One of the reasons for this is the fact that the U.S military initially reported that they had, in fact, recovered a crashed flying saucer. It was all over the newspapers and radio stations, declaring that the military had recovered a flying disk. Later, the military retracted that statement, saying that it was actually just a misidentified weather balloon, and the news that the military retracted their statement was even larger news than the crash was. (Marshall, Brian) The second thing that made the crash site more controversial is the way the military controlled the evidence. The military collected every single piece of debris from the crashing site and they even took all the evidence that rancher had collected, leaving nothing behind.
A UFO fell in Roswell New Mexico in late June or early July in 1947. The day after a fierce thunderstorm, rancher W. W. “Mack” Brazel went out with his son on horses to go check on sheep. While he was out riding, he noticed strange metal debris scattered over a large part of his ranch. As he inspected the land, he saw a huge trench several hundred feet long gouged out of the earth. One stormy night in July, in the year 1947, in the small town of Roswell, New Mexico, something crashed. People have long said that aliens did actually crashed that night, while others agree with the military and believe it was just a weather balloon. I think that aliens did actually crash in the small town of Roswell, New Mexico. I know that the government at first announced that a flying saucer had just crashed, and I believe that they later changed their story to prevent mass panic and hysteria. This question of whether or not UFO’s and aliens did actually crash in Roswell will most likely always remain a mystery, but no matter what is uncovered about this event, it is without a doubt the event that sparked people's interest in UFO’s.

    Around June 25th, 1947 a pilot, Ken Arnold had reported strange objects in the sky while flying near Mt. Rainer, Washington. He stated that they flew like "saucers being skipped over water." This was where the term "Flying Saucers" derived from. The Roswell UFO Incident all started on the evening of July 3, 1947, Dan Wilmot and his wife were sitting on their front porch when they saw the distinct shape of a saucer flying through the sky. A few days prior to this sighting, military radar in the area was tracking an Unidentified Flying Object for four days.     Prejudice comes in many forms. Two such forms of extreme prejudice are the Salem witch-hunts and the Ku Klux Klan. In the colonial time, from 1700 to 1775, the Salem witch-hunts took place. The KKK originated after the civil war and is still going on today. These two groups based their prejudice on religious beliefs. People from many different cultures founded our nation, which gives us a unique diversity that was and is not always respected. The Ku Klux Klan states they are based on Christianity and uses such symbols as the flaming cross. Burning the cross is supposed to represent “opposition to tyranny and obedience to God.” The KKK believes they are superior to all non-whites. The people responsible for the Salem witch-hunts feared and persecuted those whom didn’t share religious and personal beliefs. A way of testing your beliefs was being forced to recite the 10 commandments without falter. Ku Klux Klan often expressed their beliefs by putting burning crosses in non-white homes, setting homes and businesses on fire, and even hanging non-whites. In the same way, the witch-hunts would force those who were prosecuted to confess and incriminate, if not, they would be hung, burned, or in one case smashed to death. Both groups use Christianity against other people that differed from them. The KKK was an underground organization, and used robes and hoods to disguise themselves. Rarely did members become publicly known because they were denounced by majority of society. Public leaders such as, reverends and government officials conducted the Salem witch-hunts. The trials were often public events that were well attended by the general population. The Ku Klux Klan was not based on fear of non-whites, rather their own supremacy. While the witch-hunts feared those with different beliefs including what we would now consider, “mentally disabled.” What good are religious beliefs such as Christianity if they are twisted, warped, and used as an excuse for violence.
