Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant is said to be one of the best basketball players of all time. His will to win and dedication is what separated him from everyone else. His competitiveness was on another level. Tough obstacles were put in his way that changed his life. He went through hard times in his personal life, but he always looked at the bright side, which was basketball. Kobe Bean Bryant, son of Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, was born in August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kobe Bryant attended Lower Merion High School and was known to be one of the top high school players in the entire country averaging 30.8 points, 12 rebounds, 6,5 assists, 4 steals, and 3.8 blocks in his senior year. He finished his high school career with 2,883 total points passing Wilt Chamberlain and Lionel Simmons. Right
He started having pain in his left ankle and knee. In the 13-14 season, he missed the first 19 games. He then went through a lateral tibial plateau and was expected to miss 6 weeks. He was averaging 13 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. He was selected to start in the All Star Game, but he felt like he didn’t deserve to play. However, he did miss the game because of injury and went on to miss the remainder of the season. Lakers ended the season with a 27-55 record and did not make the playoffs. The 15-16 season was his 20th season with the Lakers. The Lakers were playing the Golden State Warriors and Kobe went down on a play while driving to the basket. He had torn his achilles. Kobe eventually announced his retirement and would play the rest of the season. His last games was against the Utah Jazz and went on to score 60 points. Kobe Bryant had gone through so much in his life, but nothing got in the way of his love for basketball. This shows no matter what obstacle was put in front of him, he overcame anything and the light at the end of the tunnel for him was
He was also selected to be an NBA all-star as he averaged 30 to 40 points per game. While when it came to Michael’s second year in the NBA he broke his foot early in the season and was forced to sit out. While having his year off from the game, he decided to go back to school to finish his final year of college. His 3rd year wasn’t all so great either as the Bulls had another losing season, but they still made it to the playoffs. Michael would also score 63 points to set an NBA playoffs record.
He then won another Championship beating the Sonics as his 4th. He also was the star in the movie Space Jam. The next year he scored an average of 30.4 points per game with 72-82 record that season and won his 5th championship against Utah Jazz. He again won the same as the following year 1997-1998 winning again to make his 6th and final championship. He then joined the Washington wizards. Then, he retired from basketball (Biography.com Editors.).
The NBA is well known for the number of amazing professional athletes it has had over the years. Some of the most gifted and talented individuals come through the NBA and one of the better-known superstars is none other than Kobe Bryant. For years people have wondered what makes Bryant so successful. The main contributors that lead to Kobe Bryant’s success is his hard work and dedication, his mindset, his natural ability’s and talent, and the people that have helped him throughout his life. Kobe Bryant was very successful in the NBA because of the amount of hard work he has put in, the people in his life, his relentless determination and his god given natural abilities.
“Maybe this guy is god disguised as Michael Jordan” (Michael Jordan). Michael Jordan is clearly the best basketball player to have ever set foot on a basketball court as Larry Bird put it jokingly. He wasn’t the perfect basketball player but he was good enough to surpass the rest of the league as a whole. Because of his superior skills and incomprehensible work ethic, he can be considered an outlier. There is no other player that has accomplished as much as Jordan and will probably never see something like it again.
Michael Jordan, what comes to your mind when you hear that name? Michael had played for the bulls and had gotten 6 championship rings with the team. Well, is it just me or does that sound like a lot of time in the game of basketball? In 1982 he took a big step up from highschool to college, where he wanted to pursue the basketball dream. He went to college at North Carolina where he played NCAA basketball for just one year before he was drafted in 1984. All eyes were on him when he went on the court, because that just how good he was at the game of basketball. Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players in NBA history, maybe even the greatest of all time.
He is the only player in the NBA history to average at least 30 points in a season. After he retired from the Lakers he started coaching volleyball and basketball and he was put in the volleyball Hall of Fame. Wilt Chamberlain was considered one of the greatest and most memorable players in the NBA. One of his tragedies was his death at age 63.
First, let me start off with the career of Kobe Bean Bryant who is currently on the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe was first drafted into the NBA in the year 1996 by the Charlotte Hornets, but was later traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. The most amazing part about him being drafted was that
On March 18, 1995 the NBA received good news, Michael announced his return back to the NBA. The next day, Michael put on jersey number 45 since his old number 23 was retired by the Bulls from his first retirement. He played very well during his first game back in the NBA although he hasn’t played the game of basketball in a year and a half. He made a game winning shot against the Atlanta Hawks during his fourth game back in the NBA.
Jordan helped revolutionize the game of basketball, the marketing brand of the NBA, and became one of the most recognizible humans on the face of the Earth. Through the Civil Rights movement, America's involvement in the Cold War, and a period of transition in America, Michael Jordan entered the NBA at a time of cultivation. All the hard work that Jordan did through his life, and all the hard work society did to progress as a whole colloborated in the 1980's, and allowed Michael Jordan to become a revolutionary. Michael Jordan is an iconic symbol of not just basketball, but American change and progress and it's influence throughout the world.
Kobe spent years trying to mimic everything about Michael Jordan including his footwork, shooting form etc. and it definitely payed off . Kobe has the 3rd most points scored of all time and he is the all time Lakers points leader. However, Kobe’s success is his but his influence is not, it belongs to Michael Jordan as it was Kobe who mimicked Jordan. The points scored by Kobe have an often unseen angle, Kobe also has the missed the most shots ever (Nba.com)). LeBron, on the other hand, is currently the youngest player to reach 20,000 points even though Kobe has played 6 more seasons than LeBron has out-rebounded, out-assisted, out-stole and out-blocked Kobe Bryant (nba.com). While doing so LeBron changed what constitutes all 5 positions, for example before LeBron, the point guard was the smallest player on the court who can dribble, but after LeBron’s arrival where he has dominated every position with his 6’8 280 pound frame and his incredible basketball IQ, the point guard has become the composer of the symphony that is an offensive possession in a game of basketball"LeBron James." Although this negative attention occurred during his NBA career, Bryant did, in fact, have many NBA achievements before this mishap. Firstly, at just 17 years old (“Kobe Bryant” 1), Kobe managed to become the second youngest player to enter the professional league in NBA history, being the 13th overall pick in the 1996 draft (“Bryant, Kobe” 1). In mid-1996, Kobe was traded to his now current team, the NBA Lakers, where he would proceed to gain both his glory and his infamy (“Kobe Bryant” 1). Additionally, Bryant joined the all-star team in just his second season in the league, therefore becoming the single youngest player to be part of the all-star team of all time (“Bryant, Kobe” 1) at just 19 years old (Kobe at 30--Oh, how the years go by 2). Surprisingly, these achievements would not be the only ones he would acquire. By 2003, Bryant had already captured 3 NBA titles for himself (“Bryant, Kobe” 1), winning three titles in a row from 2000 to 2002(K...
There is a lot of talk about who is the greatest basketball player to ever set foot on a court. Born December 30, 1984, LeBron James is often in the mix of this conversation. Like most successful people today, LeBron had it rough growing having to move from apartment to apartment. His father Anthony McClelland, an ex-con, did not step up to the plate of fatherhood, leaving his mother Gloria James to raise him on her own. When LeBron was just a sobbing baby she bought him a miniature goal, not knowing she was creating one of the best ball players of all time.
...MVP twice, NBA Rookie of the Year, NBA scoring champion, All-NBA First Team six times, All-NBA Second Team twice, NBA All-Defensive First Team 4 times, NBA All-Rookie First Team, 2012 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year, 2012 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year, Cleveland Cavaliers all-time leading scorer, Naismith Prep Player of the Year 2013, and USA Mr. Basketball for two consecutive years.
In his first season with the Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan averaged 28 points a game and voted to the All-Star game, because of all the attention Jordan received his teammates refused to pass him the ball. Instead of letting the freeze-out during the All-Star game deter him he went on to win Rookie of the Year. The following season he would break his foot causing him to miss the rest of the regular season. He would return for the playoffs where in the second game of the series against the Boston Celtics he set the record for most points in a playoff game with 63; however the Celtics would win the series and would later on lose to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Michael Jordan is considered, by many, to be the greatest basketball player of all-time. However many do not know who he is as a person, or what he has contributed to basketball. Michael Jordan may be the greatest basketball player of all-time, but he is much more than a basketball player. He has contributed to many different charities, he was a baseball player, and he is a golfer. He is a champion off the court just as much as he was on the court to many people who receive donations from him. Jordan was a champion on the basketball court, but he is still a champion in the hearts of many off the court.
