Before the Earth was even thought of, there was only the glorious sky. On one specifically summery day, King Rain, the king of the Sky, noticed something peculiar. His people were dead or dying all throughout his kingdom. Since the sky was the only known place with any human existence, they had nowhere else to go. The king soon realized that there was no sickness or plague causing these deaths, it was just human nature, people were growing old. In the sky, most everyone had very high respect for their elders, so this wouldn't work, they needed a place to be at peace. That very next day, at the crack of dawn, King Rain began making plans for a new home beneath the sky for the deceased. He came up with the ideal idea of making a hole in the sky …show more content…
The king was extremely excited about this new world, so he went to explore and create even more wonderous things. He floated down to Earth on a large white cloud and landed in what is present day the Coast of California; once he arrived, he got to work. The all powerful king created the calm rivers, the briny lakes, and the narrow straits with his tears of joy. He then formed the snow capped mountains, the xeric deserts and the leafy forests with his bare hands. He then brought about animals never even thought of before, they spoke with the king of their gratitude for him. Meanwhile, a group of esteemed young men, named the Arindurra, offered to bring the dead down to their resting place. While on Earth, they became very envious and distraught! The men were in awe of what King Rain created and they wanted it for themselves, their wives, and their children. They saw the unfamiliar, yet fascinating, creatures and wanted them not to be lonely, the men wanted this new world to thrive and prosper. The King thought about their proposal for a while, and after much consideration, he let them live on …show more content…
That way, they will always be watching over us and protecting us!” In the days following this decision, the men and their families packed their things and said their goodbyes to the King and his subjects. King Rain, with the help of a few of the Arindurra men, moved the dead from beneath the clouds to above them. This new place above the sky was perfect, filled with humming birds and beautiful flowers to fill the ground. Down on Earth, the men and their families were so happy with their new home, they couldn't believe the King was so gracious. They spread all around the world, going in all different directions, creating new cultures and new religions as they go. After the dead were brought up from the Earth and into the sky, their bodies left flowers in the ground, so if you ever see a beautiful flower in an odd place, remember it was a soul that is now at rest. In the new world, the birds told the green children magnificent stories about what is to come in their lives and the butterflies sang sweet melodies of joy because they finally had
The movie begins with self-centered, materialistic Charlie Babbitt (Tom Cruise), learning the death of his father. To settle his dad’s estate, he and his business partner/girlfriend, Susanna (Valeria Golino) travel to his home town Cincinnati. While he was hoping to inherit all of his dad’s estate, all he got was a car and a collection of rosebushes that he simply has no use for. The remaining $3 million fortune was put into a trust for an unnamed beneficiary. Charlie demands to know the identity of the beneficiary and finds out that it is a mental hospital where his long-lost autistic brother, Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) resides with a caretaker, Dr. Bruner (Gerald R. In this story the higher power is called the Creating Power. The Creating power was the decision maker when the new world was created. He begun the process by singing four songs. The first three songs brought on heavy rain. The fourth song he sang while stomping on the earth and causing it to crack open. Water then begins to come out of the cracks to help indulge into this worldwide flood symbolizing a cleanse for the earth. During the flood the
The Man to Send Rain Clouds and Old Man at the Temple have many differences and similarities between the places they are told. The place where The Man to Send Rain Clouds is held is on a country side. Many context clues help reveal this. The fact that there are mountains, trees, and sheep involved, all support this hypothesis. In the story, it says, “...
The theme to this story is that people will always be different and you cannot force your ideas into them. In this story the priest is ignorant to the fact that these Indians do not want to have a Catholic burial and that they only want to use the holy water to bring rain. All the priest is interested in is gaining parishioners, while the Indians just want to pay their respects to the old man by staying true to their heritage.

... burial places. Not only did it provide these individuals with an eternal essence, it was a demonstration of their wealth and taste. These burial practices are cultural dedications that engage with society. Though are not all the same, they provide the same type message. This message is in regard to the heavy presence of power at a certain time. The society of elites engages in the world, competes with each other and in this generates a sense of control. Creating tombs and spaces for themselves ensures them that their mark on the world lasts forever even when their body doesn’t. It is religious in that it provides space for someone who has died and ascended yet it is symbolic of the spirit where the individual can back to the high ether and be where the gods live.
After the end of the fourth world, all the gods gathered at the Aztec’s main city, or Teotihuacán, to discuss the creation of the fifth world. They chose two gods: a wealthy, healthy one and a poor, sickly one that would both jump into the sacrificial fire. When they were sacrificed, the first sunrise of the fifth world was supposed to occur, but as the gods waited nothing happened.... ... middle of paper ...
Everything else was silent, empty, dark, and endless. Love was then born out of nowhere, bringing a start of order. From love came Light and Day. Once Light and Day was born, so was Gaea, the earth. Then Erebus and Night slept together, and gave birth to Ether, the heavenly light and the earthly light to Day.
The grandeur with which Egyptians regarded their funerary customs does not come without explanation. They delighted in tying the occurrences of the natural world with supernatural dogma, and their burial practices exemplified this deluge of religion. A special deity was even attributed to cemeteries and embalmers: Anubis (Fiero, 46). Due to this deep sense of religion, a fixation with the afterlife developed within their culture. The Egyptian afterlife, however, is not synonymous of heave, but, rather, of The Field of Reeds, a continuation of one’s life in Egypt meant “to secure and perpetuate in the afterlife the ‘good life’ enjoyed on earth” (Mark 1; “Life in Ancient Egypt” 1). The pursuit of this sacred rest-place prompted the arousal of intricate Egyptian funeral rituals.

In the book, The Rain God, by Arturo Islas, Juanita is married to Miguel Grande, who ends up cheating on her yet she decides to stay with him despite his affair. Through the application of Psychoanalytic Criticism to the character Juanita, it can be argued that her father’s influence during her childhood was the start of her psychological trauma that influenced and shaped her relationship with Miguel Grande. This can be seen through the development of her unconsciousness, her defenses, and her sexuality.
The environment is too hot that the land became so dry and there was no plantations, foods to eat. There were no crops because the the growth of the crops depends on the rain. Because there were no crops, people were going crazy and there starvation. Even Though, the rain came tit did not last longer. When they realized that next year they to face the same problem, so they have to find a way to end this problem. Then the children’s grandfather Mokgobja remembered about an ceremony which involves the ritual sacrifice of children which will calm down the Rain God. He convinces Ramadi about the sacrifice. Then the Ramadi and Mokgobja took his daughters to the empty land to sacrifice. The Autumn spirit was the most serene spirit, for he was the only one who attempted to make peace among the others; Winter, Spring, Summer who were all attempting to control all of Earth’s seasons for the whole year. Each and every day, all the spirits, besides Autumn, would fight over dominance of creating their own world. After several years of constant arguing, Autumn could not deal with it anymore. He decided he would sacrifice himself for peace among the three others.
