He was known to the English as King James I and with the Scottish people he was known as King James VI. King James l became King of Scotland when he was only 13 months old. He took over the throne in 1581. He became the King of England in 1603 after Queen Elizabeth died. King James l married Anne of Denmark 7 children. Their oldest son became King Charles I after King James died A daughter Elizabeth Stuart became the Queen Of Bohemia, Henry Frederick was the Prince Of Wales. King James and Anne had three more daughters, Mary Stuart, Sophia Stuart, Margaret Stuart, and one son Robert Stuart, Duke Of Kintyre King James was 58 years old when he died. Faith was the daughter of Sir John Coghill of Bletchingdon. Wern and faith had two sons Gilbert, who died at the age of 18 months and Christopher. Faith died in 1675. It brought the world into several revolutions that will later contribute to great change for the modern world. 1. King James I of England can be described as a forceful, independent and corrupt monarch. As a result of dealing with Puritans, who wanted to get rid of the hierarchical episcopal system of Church governance and replace it with a more representative Presbyterian form that is like the one the Calvinists have, James displayed his forcefulness. At the Hampton Court Conference in 1604, James rejected the Puritans and clearly stated that he wanted to reinforce the Anglican episcopacy. Despite the tensions his actions may have caused, James did what he believed to be right, instead of compromising and possibly coming up with an agreement. James was independent because he didn’t want Parliament to help him, so he seldom asked for their assistance.
James VI & I's Desire to Create a Perfect Union Between Scotland and England After succeeding the English thrown in 1603, James VI & I of Scotland and England aimed to create the 'perfect union'. In 1604 he proclaimed himself king of Britain and attempted full unification of the nations. This was to involve uniting the Scottish and English parliaments, the church and the legal systems. It also included free trade, repeal of hostile laws and the renewal of borders.

Imagine that the only way for an individual to pass high school is to get a 5.0 GPA, and those who do not achieve this standard would be homeless for the rest of their lives. Obviously, this is nearly impossible to do since everyone would have to take all AP courses. However, even if this is the required standard for people, not everyone will succeed, and there will be many homeless people. If there are many people that are homeless, then they will start to rebel so they don’t have to be homeless anymore. The Enlightenment is known as the age of reasons because of its gradual changes or transitions from traditional to modern societies. It was a big change from faith or religion towards science and the intellectual reasoning. Also, many societies or people changed their styles of living and beliefs such as they went from rural to urban, agriculture to commerce, believe to reason, religion to science, and so on. Once the King of England, Scotland, as well as Ireland, and the second son of James VI and Anne of Denmark, King Charles I was born in Scotland on November 19,1600 and died January 30, 1649 by the hands of execution. Even at a young age King Charles was granted power as Duke of Albany at his own baptism. However he did not stop there soon after in 1605 he was proclaimed Duke of York. King Charles was not perfect though, from and early age he suffered from weak ankle joints which in return affected his physical growth. Not only was King Charles also suffering physically but mentally as well. He was very slow at learning how to speak as a child, however he would some day grow out of all of his small issues and become a powerful King. King Charles was not an only child, he was aided by his older brother and sister who played a huge part in his rise to power. However his power would soon be tested as he engaged in a power tug of war with the Parliament of England which sought out to change his royal ways in which he believed was his divine right.
The Enlightenment is simply, the time period where Europe began to slowly move away from ideologies strictly from religion, and instead invested its time into discovering scientific knowledge and rational thinking. This lead people to also have a synthesized worldview, versus a jagged and messy view that religion had on life itself. Ideas in science, art, philosophy, and politics all change drastically because of the Enlightenment (Class Notes, The Enlightenment).
